    Good Info!👍 I'd recommend 400 for nonmetallic and 600 for metallic just like You're using.

    Something to remember with Epoxy Primer/Sealers is, They can take 5-7 days to cure…
    If you are applying 2k primer or Polyester primer over it, you will want to wait a few hours(6-12 in my opinion) before doing so, otherwise, the epoxy can remain uncured and can cause issues down the road..
    I’ve used Nason Epoxy for years, but it’s gone out of sight on cost. So I’m trying this Summit stuff. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks so much for the video, just sprayed whole car with this epoxy. Some cotton wood tree fuzzies got in between coats. Grrrr. Was hoping to top coat and let it sit overnight. Instead on here looking for ideas. Looks like wetting is in my future sanding is in my future.

      Hey how did the topcoat lay down? I'm about to do the same and I'm unsure if I should before.

      @@goblinhorn901 it laid down good. Just follow instruction on can. After I did the 2k I just quickly sanded it with 600 as I waited a day before I laid down the single stage paint.

    Look into Southern Polyurethane's epoxy primer, it's sandable dry. Like you're saying though, most people topcoat the same day with 2k high build. I have a quart I'm about to try on some 55' chevy parts.

    I waited 14 days from when i did my epoxy. I beleive that means i have to sand the epoxy now before urethane primer. What grit would i use to dand the epoxy? Thanks

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  5 дней назад

      The tds on the epoxy gives the grits you should use. Most of the time 220-320g

      @@TurbineResearch It doesnt tho. It says what to sand with prior to spraying epoxy. Then the TDS says abrade after the 4 day window to allow proper adhesion. Nothing about what to sand it with once fully cured. One bodyshop guy on youtube just got back to me told me to use a maroon scuff pad as thats what he uses after the 4 day window.

    How long does it take to dry and harden? I sprayed 2 coats 5 hrs ago and it’s still soft

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  4 месяца назад

      It will be soft for a long time. It’s still Still sticky at 24hrs and fully dry at 48hrs

    If I want to lay down a 2nd coat of epoxy primer do I sand it down with 80 grit again or can I do a 240 grit

      The data sheet will give you the recoat times. I think this one can be recoated within 4 days without abrasion

    This may be a stupid question, but would you consider this a "sealer" also?

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  Год назад

      Yes it seals up all the previous layers of paint and metal

    • @AA_Ron155
      @AA_Ron155 Год назад +1

      It can be reduced up to 20 percent to be used as a sealer coat. It will then lay thin and flat.
