The 1989 original made a huge impact on me as a nine year old, as a superhero fan, and as a movie viewer. It was probably the first “grown-up“ movie I ever saw. 30+ years later, it is still one of my favorites.
Batman 89 and Returns are my favourites. I wish that today we’d get a Gotham City in a Batman film that looks like the one in those two films - they haven’t been able to capture the essence of Gotham City ever since.

I was always a huge batman fan. I learned to read because I looked at the tiny boxes in the comic books.Then when Frank Miller's batman returns came out it burned like wildfire! Reinvigorated my interest in comics, which had left when he left daredevil. ❤❤❤
I don’t think it can be understated how amazing Keaton was as an actor. He played just absolutely amazing characters and definitely set the bar as Batman. To date, none have quite captured the spirit of his character. Hes the one they all wanna be.
I had all of those McDonalds toys back when this movie released! Saw it in theaters, it was crazy back then when we were getting our first tastes of comic book movies. Superman was amazing, but the first 2 Batman movies were the gold standard!!! Absolutely amazing! And then summer of Batman forever happened amd it blew the last 2 out of the water with merchandising, and tie ins, everyone jumped on that movie back then! Random candy and toys, and just everything Batman! It was like the Jurassic Park summer 2 years before Forever... every 3 songs on any radio station was the Seal song Kiss from a Rose, even on the metal/alternative music stations. I can still hear it now. Lmfao! The 90s were wild!
....recently SEAL....was on the JENNIFER HUDSON SHOW....and he said that JOEL..... approached him and told him that he LOVED his VOICE....and would he contribute something to the soundtrack...and even though the song had little to do with the movie....JOEL did EXACTLY what he told SEAL he would do....just STICK IT IN....and he DID.....which gave SEAL....the BIGGEST HIT OF HIS CAREER....RIP JOEL....
Keaton is my nostalgia win but I love Pattinson, Bale, Kilmer and even Afleck. The only one I can’t get behind was Clooney’s though for the movie they made I thought he did well. I’m excited for what comes next with this character in live action.

I was only 6, but I remember the whole experience of getting ready for the movies at home, during which my cousins were trying to scare me by telling me that the dad from The Shining was the Joker. Even though I hadn't seen The Shining, I still knew about it, and Nicholson, so I was a little nervous. Walking out, all of us loved the movie. When the VHS came out, we wore that tape out. Still holds up terrifically for me.
Dent was never going to be in the role Shrek was. Waters himself has said so. Dent was going to be completely separate, showing signs of his eventual transformation into two face by flipping a coin to decide if he was going to get involved in the situation involving Shrek and Cobblepot

Adam wests Batman was fun as a kid. I enjoyed it. Tim Burtons Batman came after Frank Millers fantastic interpretation of Batman and delivered upon that new vision. Dark and gritty and serious.
My favorite on screen Batman not counting Adam West who was the Adam West Batman not Batman my favorite is Michael Keaton because my favorite Batman movie is the 1989 Tim Burton movie which is the movie that paved the way for the others that followed.
Every time I - in retrospect - hear of studio executives changing an original idea in a movie I already overly enjoyed in my youth to something ‘more suitable for younger audiences’, and realize what got changed or cut out, I go all Jim Carrey like “Pfff - OOH, COME OOON!!!”
Turned the video off at the two minute mark when it was made abudentky clear that you don't understand what the Adam West version was supposed to be. If you can't be trusted with that, how can you be trusted in giving an accurate talk on the Burton/Schumacher series of movies?
I was in first grade when Batman and Robin came out and yes I was one of those damn kids and thought it was the best movie ever I had all the toys t-shirts and now over the years I realize why people hated that movie
I choose to view the Schumacher films as an entirely different universe than the Burton films, and ya know what? It helps me appreciate them more. Also it's easy to do, with Gotham looking completely different, and Alfred/Gordon being the only common denominators....

Your timing of periods is off a lot, especially saying Brosnan had a certain spy role around the corner because in late 88 when Batman was being cast the door of Bond had been slammed shut on Brosnan.
I gave Batman 89 so much crap for years. Having read the original script, and being a huge Nightwing/Robin fan, I love that original script. I watched it a couple years ago and I absolutely hated it. I always wished they would’ve made it as Sam Hamm originally wrote it, I thought it would’ve made for a better movie than what I’d seen. Just finished it last night and I have no idea why I hated that movie so much. Is it the best Batman movie in my opinion? No. But it is a good Batman movie, both in script and final product. Honestly, id love to have seen the Nightwing Spin-Off movie that was you going to Star Chris O’Donnell, it would’ve been interesting I think

Probably because Tim Burton lived in California at the time, and had other projects in Hollywood, so filming in LA would be more appealing / easier for Burton, and then he would be willing to work on the movie
I do find it funny how much batman fans that dont like the adam west batman hate the pow, wiz, bang stuff but are cool with Wolverine's "snikt" proving it's not that those type of things dont work they just work when used right amd that should be only in the comics not on screen
The problem with Batman 4 for me was that there was absolutely no chemistry between the three good heroes. They don't work at all, and not just when Robin does his jealousy thing because of Poison Ivy. The whole dialogs between them and all dialogs between them and Batgirl are just stupid and not developed. "Oh you are now also a hero? ...Ok" - not even adressing once that it might be dangerous for her. Nobody cared for her safety, which is a stupid move for a relative of their beloved butler.
I love the Burton Batman movies. Michael Keaton is and always will be my favorite Batman.

@@JoBloOriginals ....love your video....thank you so much...i learned a lot.....just thank you...i will probably watch it again and again...now let's breakdown what i remember before i have to go to work....unfortunately set designer GENIUS....ANTON FURST committed SUICIDE...and that is the reason he wasn't in on anymore of the continuation of his brilliant work...i was booked to work with him on a deodorant commercial and everyone in art and entertainment was very saddened to hear of his untimely death....ROBIN WAS in the original TIM version but he was CUT because the studio thought the situation was becoming ...too....what else....GAY....JACK NICHOLSON broke all of THAT DOWN in ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE.....of course JACK was COMPLETELY in FAVOR of ROBIN staying in because JACK....had some really....SALACIOUS things to SAY that got CUT........also it was JACK'S idea to bring PRINCE aboard....and it is legend that TIM was ambivalent because we all KNOW....PRINCE is a GENIUS...and TIM was NOT ready for THAT kind of HEAT...when he voiced his ....concern JACK SNAPPED.....PRINCE IS BATMAN....PRINCE even hung out on the SET and observed everything and the song PARTYMAN is specifically about JACK RULING THE SET DURING FILMING.......the 60s TV SHOW was a POP CULTURE HIT to the point it came on 2 NIGHTS A WEEK before it fizzled out...it introduced the concept of children's entertainment...ad the concept of CAMP... to MAINSTREAM TASTE....TIM BURTON...is truly a GENIUS and i LOVE his 2 films...however it was a bit DARK and KINKY ...and the critics and PARENTS were side eyeing his obvious fetishes being displayed for quote unquote ...CHILDREN...but he got over..LOL....EVERYONE LOVES HIS VERSION of CATWOMAN....MICHELLE is IMMORTAL FOR THAT.....LOL....and i do not blame her from her doing ONE....and being DONE....the BEST FEMALE ACTRESSES are well aware of that sense of MYSTERY....as for JOEL...he DID take the franchise to the NEXT LEVEL...by the time he came aboard the movie industry was well aware of POP CULTURE....and the CHARACTERS THEMSELVES BEING CELEBRITIES as much as the STARS PLAYING THEM which was very exciting to see......TOMMIE LEE JONES....as well as just about everyone else in HOLLYWOOD was just....CONFUSED and DISCONNECTED and ENVIOUS of JIM CARREY because he was the FIRST ACTOR to get 20 MILLION for his work in a picture....something he said he had visualized as a young man when he first came to HOLLYWOOD....even TOM CRUISE said his AGENT was STARTLED that JIM got that much and HE began DEMANDING THAT TOM GET THAT MUCH TOO.....JIM said that TOMMIE had told him to his FACE that he felt that HE TOO COULD and SHOULD get that check....but TOMMIE is an EXCELLENT DRAMATIC ACTOR...and JIM....as everyone KNOWS.....is a WALKING SPECIAL EFFECT...what he gives himself PERMISSION TO DO as an ACTOR....is ANOTHER DIMENSION of GENIUS not seen since CHARLIE CHAPLIN...and when he was cast as....THE RIDDLER....we all KNEW HE WAS GOING TO KILL IT...and he DID...under JOEL'S REIGN he presented A....as A.....a COMIC BOOK turned into a MOVIE....and he gave such VISUAL EXCELLENCE on every level...a lot of people are not aware of his work in FASHION....he was an editor and stylist under DIANA VREELAND the editor in chief of VOGUE in the 60s....and SHE is one of the most INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN FASHION....ADVERTISING...and MARKETING....and VISUAL CULTURE...she is STUDIED by people in those fields TO THIS DAY...so JOEL has always known how to LAY DOWN VISUALS...he also of course has excellent TASTE.....however HE HIMSELF has admitted that. he......sadly to his SINCERE REGRET....RUINED THE FRANCHISE....and thought that he made the franchise...TOO CAMP.... it seems that the film industry knows what it's doing with the franchise holistically....it's ENTERTAINMENT and MERCHANDISING...not necessarily HIGH ART....and we as an audience are becoming a bit too ....SOPHISTICATED to just SIT BACK...and be ENTERTAINED...we are constantly trying to show how critical and smart we are....as we watch these very talented and very smart actors...TAKE THE MONEY and RUN...all of the British actors that now have a serious stronghold as actors in these comic book movies have NO PROBLEMS whoring themselves out for it....and they openly....and HILARIOUSLY ADMIT IT....THANKS again for your video...and RIP JOEL....

Your timing of periods is off a lot, especially saying Brosnan had a certain spy role around the corner because in late 88 when Batman was being cast the door of Bond had been slammed shut on Brosnan.

I gave Batman 89 so much crap for years. Having read the original script, and being a huge Nightwing/Robin fan, I love that original script. I watched it a couple years ago and I absolutely hated it. I always wished they would’ve made it as Sam Hamm originally wrote it, I thought it would’ve made for a better movie than what I’d seen. Just finished it last night and I have no idea why I hated that movie so much. Is it the best Batman movie in my opinion? No. But it is a good Batman movie, both in script and final product.
Honestly, id love to have seen the Nightwing Spin-Off movie that was you going to Star Chris O’Donnell, it would’ve been interesting I think

Probably because Tim Burton lived in California at the time, and had other projects in Hollywood, so filming in LA would be more appealing / easier for Burton, and then he would be willing to work on the movie

The problem with Batman 4 for me was that there was absolutely no chemistry between the three good heroes. They don't work at all, and not just when Robin does his jealousy thing because of Poison Ivy. The whole dialogs between them and all dialogs between them and Batgirl are just stupid and not developed. "Oh you are now also a hero? ...Ok" - not even adressing once that it might be dangerous for her. Nobody cared for her safety, which is a stupid move for a relative of their beloved butler.
