I think it very much depends on who was playing Bond when you discovered the series as to who your favourite actor is. For example, Timothy Dalton has always been my favourite because his films were the ones that came out when I was in my early teens. The Dalton films really grabbed me in a way that the older films never had, but once I was onboard through Dalton, I was able to enjoy the films that I'd though of as old fashioned and boring beforehand. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't dislike ANY Bond movies. I think they're all great for what they are. But, Pierce Brosnan is my LEAST favourite of all of the Bond actors. I’ve never understood the hate that Die another day has been getting all these years. First of all it has 2 stunning ladies, Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike. Both of them are gorgeous and badass dames. Secondly the opening of the film is wonderfully over-the-top and action-packed and Bond’s imprisonment is gruesome to say the least. Beautiful locations, great action and a very bad Bond theme round out a very enjoyable film. I even like the villains ànd John Cleese!!!
Goldeneye was also my first James Bond in the cinemas.. :) Loved it.. But I really like Timothy Dalton too. I watched those movies alot before Goldeneye..
I love all four Brosnan outings as Bond; They constitute four of my all time favourite movies. Handsome, debonair, stylish and exciting to watch; This is true of Brosnan as indeed it is of myself lol
He was Bond when I was a kid, and I owned GoldenEye 007 on N64 when I was a kid, so he was the face of Bond in my generation. I later watched GoldenEye and loved it, it was the first Bond flick I ever saw and he instantly became one of my favorites since then. I loved his films, even though people give him crap for the later ones. I thought both Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough were excellent films, and Die Another Day... well, I don't hate it but... What on Earth did I just watch? But aside from that, I disagree with some people who say he is too "soft" to be Bond. Three examples would include 006 (Alec Trevelyan) from GoldenEye, Dr. Kaufman from Tomorrow Never Dies, and Elektra King from The World Is Not Enough. Those three kills in particular were brutal because in Dr. Kaufman's case, it was both partially revenge over Paris's killing and on a professional level, and with 006 and Elektra's deaths, both were at his mercy and were formerly people he trusted, and he pretty much killed them both with no hesitation as soon as he gains the upper hand in the fight. As for Die Another Day, honestly, his performance in it is fine for the most part, it's just that the story and main villain are just... really absurd. But in a way, that's kind of why I enjoyed it. It's so over-the-top that it's kind of amusing. Both Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike give great performances as the Bond girls of that flick, and the opening action scenes of the film are some of my favorite Brosnan Bond scenes ever. Though I kind of agree with you, I think Will Yun Lee's Colonel Moon prior to becoming Gustav Graves would have been a much better and serious villain than Graves. I also just kind of find it hard to believe that Colonel Moon is Graves, considering how in the beginning, we see Moon as this ruthless, merciless young North Korean colonel that has a pretty interesting scheme, to forcefully bring Korean unification by starting a war... but then he becomes Gustav Graves... who uses a giant laser in space to make a pathway for North Korea to invade South Korea... yeah, I have a LOT of trouble believing that these two are the same person... sure, they have the same motives, but was Moon's plan to create Icarus all along? Was using the gene therapy something he SUDDENLY came up with after faking his death, or was that also part of his grand master scheme? Yeah, I just don't get it.
Golden eye, the movie, the game has more time spent in my life n heart as an early teen I’ll never forget how this movie changed my life Such a good time to be young then
Martin Campbell is one of the most underrated directors of his era. He made Goldeneye work and introduced Brosnan's Bond so perfectly. Then homie waltz's back in and recreates Bond AGAIN with the amazing Casino Royale. Campbell has a classical style to the way he shoots action. His camera and editing are on near Spielbergian level of mastery. You can tell he's one of those directors who not only watched Lean, Hitchcock, etc, but also ABSORBED internalized the technique. A truly great mainstream filmmaker. I have to say though, I like both Tomorrow Never Dies and the World is Not Enough a lot. They're both solid Bond flicks and I think people disregard them too quickly
Pierce Brosnan is the perfect bond. I realise this after watching No Time To Die! At first, Daniel Craig was a better Bond in the first few movies but then, it took itself too seriously like based on a true story drama action which is ridiculous considering the nonsense plot and motivation of the villains with so many contradictions and plotholes. Brosnan know how to balance between drama action and cheesy fun with just the right amount.
I wasn't a huge fan of The World Is Not Enough when it came out, but after recently watching it, it's surprisingly the closest to how an Ian Flemming Bond novel would play out. If it was made during Sean Connery's run it probably would've been praised. It's very traditional Bond.
I loved the world is not enough when it came out...I remember buying it from blockbuster and watching it every weekend for a summer then again any time I was sick. Behind goldeneye it was my favorite of the era....am I really the only one that liked it?
One of the best new take of a car chase was in Tomorrow never Dies...Brosnan's facial expressions always makes me smile...especially at the end of the chase with that Lil laugh and the ahem I hope nobody saw that...
Tomorrow Never Dies has a special place for me as it was my first Bond film after playing endless hours of Goldeneye on my 64, so while most people don't like it, ill always enjoy it for personal reasons.
I watched the Brosnan era this week and honestly I had a blast and my opinion of D.A.D changed. Back when I first watched it back in 2002 I HATED it but I found myself really enjoying it (Can't defend that Kitesurfing scene though). Mind Brosnan & Moore always have a place in my heart as they were the Bonds I grew up with (Moore was on TV A LOT) and Goldeneye was the first Bond I saw in Cinema. I had more fun with these than any Craig movie after Casino Royale.
It took me many years to realize that I was in the VAST minority of folks who loved Tomorrow Never Dies! Definitely didn’t care much for The World Is Not Enough though, and absolutely hated Die Another Day.
Agreed, I think it was only outclassed by Goldeneye from Brosnan's era. This idea that the plot was silly seems a little strange to me. If you think too hard about any Bond film the plot is always silly and makes little sense. I thought Carver was one of the better villains it was something different and quite timely.
I love the scene with the assassin and than the garage scene. Also the idea about mainstream media controlling public opinion and gaslighting everyone to the point of war was really more like a prediction.(Say hello to war in Iraq and to the recent years of race riots just because of lying mainstream media)
237 Kills in Goldeneye???? Soi was right all these years?? Damn. I watched that movie everyday coming home from school and play the game whenever i could. A game my older sister let me rent but didn't return for a year. The bill was 500, i'll never forget her wrath and fury. It was worth it.
Damn dude, I had no idea about Brosnan’s idea: Tarantino directing, Anthony Hopkins as the villain, and Sharon Stone as the Bond girl? That would have been some great filmmaking! That honestly sounds like lightening in a bottle! I think that would have been such a dope movie, but I’m inclined to agree that they probably wouldn’t get the same type of Bond movie with Tarantino running the show! Nonetheless, that scene you guys cut in (starting at at 18:11) with the Kill Bill music, combined with the opening of Tomorrow Never Dies--that made me laugh! To put a 🍒 on top of this comment, anytime I see Martin Campbell directing a Bond film, it’s ALWAYS good! I think he’s got the best imagination and visualization to what a Bond movie should be. He understands the essence of the Bond character and what we want to see!
I'm sorry but TWINE is one of my favorites. Ppl say that it was the movie that had Christmas Jones but I challenge them that the movie tried something new with the main love interest turning out to be the main villain all along. That was a pretty nifty little twist.
Exactly . Yes, richards was miscast. No, it doesn't drag down the film imo. Elektra is a well written character that more than makes up for anything christmas jones lacks. First and only female main villain of the franchise. Pretty cool distinction
Of course Connery is James Bond, but the way Brosnan's blended the formula brought by both Sean and Roger is the reason why the franchise didn't turn into dust by the mid-90s. Still don't think any actor has delivered the line "Bond, James Bond" as good as he did in the casino scene of GoldenEye.
Goldeneye was such a good Bond movie. IMO, the best intro movie for a new Bond actor, also resurrected the whole series! I loved Moore, but his last couple of movies just didn’t do it for me. Made the series feel really old. Dalton was a great Bond actor, but his movies just weren’t that well written. That being said, after Goldeneye, Brosnan’s movies kind of went the same way. Brosnan was always great, and there were great Bond moments in each one, but the movies lacked somewhat as wholes, in the writing and direction.
@@eoghanlacey6384 But why didn't they keep the high standards after GE? They fired Brosnan for something they did themselves. CR was the comeback of great standards.
I actually think The World Is Not Enough is Pierce Brosnan's best outing as Bond. I think he is very dark and ruthless. The villains are good, M has more to do as well.
You can trash the movies all you want but Pierce as Bond is like everything we wanted from Roger Moore and more. He is the 2nd best Bond under Sean as far as I'm concerned. GoldenEye is the 3rd best Bond movie under From Russia with Love and Goldfinger
The ending to Die Another Day could not come soon enough. When they started racing/fighting on the ice for the third time I was like, "Again?!" I saw Tomorrow Never Dies in theaters with my uncle and I have very fond memories of that film. I really liked the villains. As a child, I was actually kind of scared of them. Ha.
I don't understand why the Brosnan Bond films have such a bad reputation. They were fun and action-packed and had the best Bond. Yeoh's character deserved a spin-off (more than the De Ames character from 'No Time To Die' that everyone has been advocating). That would have made money. Yeoh was a bona fide action star in her prime and, yes, this character overshadowed Bond in his own film.
9:13 Onatopp getting off every time she kills someone? Well, Adam Hall had one of the female assassins do exactly that in one of the (still epic) Quiller novels years previously (can't remember which one - they're ALL awesome) - recommended. Also, in terms of effects, Gerry Anderson once had a go at Derek Meddings in terms of Thunderbird 2 ("...wings too stubby, they're facing the wrong way, it would never fly..." etc.), Derek made the point that the bumble bee shouldn't fly either, yet it does. "Once it looks good, it'll work". Thank you Derek - RIP - we still owe you.
Aside from Craig (my personal favorite bond) and Connery (who is the definitive bond) Brosnan is by far the most dare I say underrated bond in the Series so far I mean Connery is the definition of James Bond and Craig is my favorite so I guess you could say Brosnan is my second favorite bond tied with Connery
Brosnan is the goat. Best Bond after Connery. Goldeneye, TND, TWINE can easily be in anyone`s franchise top10. its unfortunate Craig`s run has lasted this long only because the predecessor is usually slammed during the new guy`s tenure. Dalton has justly seen reappraisal in recent yrs and hopefully Brosnan will soon if the new 007 is any good
@@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 "anyone`s" top10, not "everyone`s", because it depends on preference of style as each era indeed relies heavily on the trends of the day. @@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 yikes. nope. Die Hard`s era was only starting when Dalton was ending. the "cunning romantic antihero" era most definitely identified the 90`s, including TND and TWINE (from McClane, to Hunt, Riggs or Bond), in contrast to the 80`s trend of "muscle" action movies (Stallone/Schwarzeneger). If anything TWINE is the last of these 90`s movies, before everything took a weird CGI turn in the early 00`s (MI2, Fast&Furious, XXX, DAD) - which is what you`re referencing as the movies that "didnt age well". my dad loved Connery as Bond but I could never get into it. I'd been a Brosnan fan after Remington Steele so I went to see Golden Eye in theaters and LOVED IT! I had such high hopes for Brosnan as Bond, I thought he was perfect for the role. He never got a fair shake. I did appreciate the evolution of Bond women during this time, and Michelle Yeoh was my FAV. I thought she did steal the action from Brosnan.
I was introduced to Bond through the Brosnan movies (and game, of course), so he'll always be my favorite. I'd argue he looks a little skinny in Goldeneye, and looks more bulked up and in his physical prime in TND and TWINE.
I actually think that The World is Not Enough is underrated. I wouldn't call it great, but it's good enough. I've always enjoyed it. I also don't think that Denise Richards is as bad as people say.
Amazing how MUCH FUN even the lesser Pierce Brosnan Bonds were in comparison to the Daniel Craig Bonds after Casino Royale, which is the only one that can be considered great!
All Bonds except Brosnan had the material which matched their charm, he has the same air as Connery and Moore, the directors could have done something more vintage with him instead of absurdly modernizing everything. He was a perfect Bond, it's really sad that they used him so badly and he even wanted to do a remake of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Tarantino also would do something really interesting with Brosnan's Bond if they left Tomorrow Never Dies in his hands.
So strange seeing the stark contrast in quality, writing + direction between Goldeneye and Die Another Day. Can you imagine of they had of gone with John Woo. So many dovr feathers buried in an Aston Martin grille.
Some things I missed for Brosnan's 007: When he said Bond James Bond there never the Theme in background. LALD had a great intro when Moore said the words BJB.. with Names is for tombstones! a legendary line.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pierce was tops, although he lacked the swag confidence at times. For eg in The Matador he had the 007 swag. Plus, a decent guy off screen, like Roger. I can't support a guy like Craig who said he hates the role and does it only for the cash...and then demands 007 must be killed. The silver lining is that he'll never return. Maybe in Sourpusser.

Golden eye, the movie, the game has more time spent in my life n heart as an early teen I’ll never forget how this movie changed my life
Such a good time to be young then
Martin Campbell is one of the most underrated directors of his era.
Regarding Martin Campbell, I highly recommend The Mask of Zorro (if you haven't seen already).
Hes a fantastic bond we were lucky to have him . God speed mr. Bond
That Goldeneye trailer was amazing. If there was a list of greatest movie trailers ever it might deserve a ranking.
Best Bond film period.
I wasn't a huge fan of The World Is Not Enough when it came out, but after recently watching it, it's surprisingly the closest to how an Ian Flemming Bond novel would play out. If it was made during Sean Connery's run it probably would've been praised. It's very traditional Bond.
Well said. Everyone mocks Denise richards, but overall it's easily one of the darkest & most grim Bond movies.
I loved the world is not enough when it came out...I remember buying it from blockbuster and watching it every weekend for a summer then again any time I was sick. Behind goldeneye it was my favorite of the era....am I really the only one that liked it?
No I love it
One of the best new take of a car chase was in Tomorrow never Dies...Brosnan's facial expressions always makes me smile...especially at the end of the chase with that Lil laugh and the ahem I hope nobody saw that...
100% agree.
"Congratulations on a safe journey!"
Tomorrow never dies. The villians remind me of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak
My favourite Bond
Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are my favorite James Bond’s 😍
Happy 71st birthday to Pierce Brosnan!
Yes!!! N64 we always played that at my cousins house.
And now for the best Pierce Brosnan Bond Movies ;-)
1. Goldeneye
2. Tomorrow Never Dies
3. The World is not Enough
4. Die Another Day
the guy on cover art for forever and a death reminded me of henry cavil. immediately imagined him in the role
It took me many years to realize that I was in the VAST minority of folks who loved Tomorrow Never Dies! Definitely didn’t care much for The World Is Not Enough though, and absolutely hated Die Another Day.
I enjoyed Tomorrow Never Dies as well. I agree 100% with you.
That’s my take as well.
Damn dude, I had no idea about Brosnan’s idea:
Tarantino directing, Anthony Hopkins as the villain, and Sharon Stone as the Bond girl?
Bond having to kill Her was pretty cold, but necessary!! One of Bond’s most badass moments!
Monica Belucci would've been better in tomorrow never dies.
She was good in spectre but was in it for a far too short time
In the end the producers Broccoli & Wilson is to blame. They approved the bad scripts for TND, TWINE and DAD...
They also approved casino royale , skyfall , goldeneye etc
@@eoghanlacey6384 But why didn't they keep the high standards after GE? They fired Brosnan for something they did themselves. CR was the comeback of great standards.
Thanks So Much For This!
I actually think The World Is Not Enough is Pierce Brosnan's best outing as Bond. I think he is very dark and ruthless. The villains are good, M has more to do as well.
I love Brosnan as Bond
You can trash the movies all you want but Pierce as Bond is like everything we wanted from Roger Moore and more. He is the 2nd best Bond under Sean as far as I'm concerned. GoldenEye is the 3rd best Bond movie under From Russia with Love and Goldfinger
James bond games were dope
The World is Not Enough is easily the most underrated Bond movie
The ending to Die Another Day could not come soon enough. When they started racing/fighting on the ice for the third time I was like, "Again?!" I saw Tomorrow Never Dies in theaters with my uncle and I have very fond memories of that film. I really liked the villains. As a child, I was actually kind of scared of them. Ha.
I would dare say that the Brosnan era is a call back to Sean Connery's time as 007.
Dalton was a great Bond.
I love Golden Eye, was a very good transition after end of cold war.
The Mask of Zorro is the best movie ever. Weird to say that about a video about James Bond, but you brought it up, sooooo...... Great video. Thanks.
Yeah. Not giving Michelle Yeoh a spinoff was such a mistake. The second half of Die Another Day really damaged Brosnans legacy (unfairly).
He was a great Bond! Great movie and video game to. I plaid it with my buddies.
I still love the star wars prequels
Holy crap True Lies would have been a BALLER bond film!
I agree with your editor!
Putting Denis Richards and nuclear physicist in the same sentence blows my mind
The Bros is my fav James Bond =)
Love pierce
Brosnan is the goat. Best Bond after Connery. Goldeneye, TND, TWINE can easily be in anyone`s franchise top10. its unfortunate Craig`s run has lasted this long only because the predecessor is usually slammed during the new guy`s tenure. Dalton has justly seen reappraisal in recent yrs and hopefully Brosnan will soon if the new 007 is any good
Think tnd and twine being in everyone's top ten is a stretch.
Nothing to do with brosnan more the heavy reliance on the trends of the day.
@@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 "anyone`s" top10, not "everyone`s", because it depends on preference of style as each era indeed relies heavily on the trends of the day. Brosnan in the romantic-antihero action blockbuster era (with Lethal weapon, Die Hard, Mission impossible), as opposed to Craig in the gritty antihero, comic book movie era (with Bourne, Nolan`s Batman, Marvel)
@@xexasperon sure, all bond films follow the trends of the day but late 90's early 00's was a confusing time, all jumbled up with no real identity just like tnd and twine.
Dalton was the die hard era bond and Craig the Bourn era gritty bond
Thinking about it no action movies during the millennium period really aged well.
These of course having been (misguidedly) heavily influenced by the innovative effects from the Matrix, and Star wars prequels.
09:45 Isabella SCORUPKO ( Scho- rup- khoo) , polish actress raised in sweden
Use to live close to Pierce, one time he let me cut in front of him in line for snow cones after losing my spot lol
Really?
10:58 that's why this movie made such a great video game
my dad loved Connery as Bond but I could never get into it.
Dalton actually gets more believable as a James Bond as he ages, maybe Pierce Brosnan too. Dalton is great in Doom Patrol.
GoldenEye best movie ever!
Great videos....but 'Worlds is not enough ' came after Tomorrow
Lol just yesterday before the vid being Uploaded I watched the 4 PB vids..
lets face it its the multiplayer that made it so iconic....god was great though oddjob was op
Brosnan is my personal favorite Bond
21:45 never noticed, that the steeringwheel stays fixed in place while the car does turns etc.
23:52 ... i always used to laugh at that scene.!!!!!
TWINE is solid. 8/10.
In Die Another Day, that laser room fight is dope AF
So strange seeing the stark contrast in quality, writing + direction between Goldeneye and Die Another Day.
Can you imagine of they had of gone with John Woo. So many dovr feathers buried in an Aston Martin grille.
Some things I missed for Brosnan's 007:
When he said Bond James Bond there never the Theme in background.
LALD had a great intro when Moore said the words BJB..
with Names is for tombstones!
a legendary line.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pierce was tops, although he lacked the swag confidence at times.
