That line and "If we make it through this, I'll tell you." Really hit hard for me. It really shows how even as a hero, he is only human and has moments where he can lose hope.

This song pretty much sums up what a horrible life Otacon has had. I mean, think about it: He helped build the machine that started a decade-long war, and almost all of his friends and family are dead. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the reason he didn't appear in Metal Gear Rising was because he offed himself.

Watch the speech between Raiden and the AIs in the ending of MGS2. Then compare it to today's events. As Max Derrat says in his video "Not only will you be enlightened but you will be terrified by its implications."
I remember my first playthrough Wolf was a very accurate boss to fight in both 1st and 2nd encounter. I was young and still green to video games. This boss will teach you how to be a patient killer. But back then, all I saw in Wolf was she was a murder and another terrorist to be taken down. I remember finally defeating her, and when that cinematic scene played out as she told her sad story where she came from while drowning in her own blood from being lung shot, I felt remorse for her. I felt sorry for killing her. The takeaway from this boss fight I gained was humanity. If you hold on to that little spark of that feeling of guilt for taking a life, then that will prevent you from becoming a sadistic monster that cares for no life or the people they hurt.
well, then i must be a sadistic monster. i always enjoyed killing all the soldiers & every single boss when i was playing mgs. since the first time i played it with 5 years
