Solid Snake saved my life back in 1998. I was in middle school. My grades were terrible. My first crush crushed me and got who I thought were my friends to throw me under the bus. I was so devastated with dealing with these events that I wanted to end my life. Then, in November of that year, my cousin introduced me to the first Metal Gear Solid. +LightnessHope .f And lets thank Kojima for bringing us the games Snatcher and Policenauts. They might not have been as popular as Metal Gear, but they're still amazing and memorable among those who've played them.

Solid Snake ***** Could you imagine if in some alternate reality like in 'Jamais Vu' from Ground Zeroes, Solid Snake met Naked Snake? It would be an epic moment of badassery.
Rest in Peace Jonathan, Elisa/Ursula, Paz, Chico, Eva, Ocelot, Kaz, Venom Snake, Quiet, Naomi, Sniper Wolf, Liquid, Solidus, Big Boss, Solid Snake and every beloved character who died in the Metal Gear Franchise.
My God this song just gets to you no matter how much you've hardened. It's like it's telling you to embrace what pain you've endured and release it with tears. Get teary eyed every time
@@saigesheen It mostly is by Peace Walker stans and the fact that it was never included in any HD collections, but personally, and I mean this in no disrespect to Peace Walker, but going from 3, to Portable Ops, to the MSX games, flowed really well. But they still made 3 more Big Boss games lmao
A very beautiful song, but I'll always be reminded of this scenario whenever I listen it: I was watching my cousin was play MGS4 and this track was playing on Snake's iPod. Song: "Calling to the-" *gunshot* Snake: "NGYAAAAAAAAAH!!" *dies* The timing couldn't have been better.
Big Boss fights for the right for everyone to choose. They may follow a nation or a belief or something entirely different. ISIS are a group who force there will unto others, to try and change our beliefs. If anything, ISIS takes after XOF more.
+Rasamatazz I grabbed a copy myself in the day, and whilst I will say it is one of the best stories of the lot, I hate how clunky it is. the Fulton system SAVED PW for me, and if it had been in Portable Ops, or at least something like it, it would have been GLORIOUS
thebladeofchaos True, dragging soldiers all the way back to your truck was SO TEDIOUS. They must've known, and that's why they later put Fultons in PW. Although I feel the rest of the game controls pretty okay - could use some work, but nothing terrible either.
Rasamatazz I did like the idea of the days and such, but it seemed....stupid when you could just sit around until 2000 in the first area. and removing the Radio for the tapes for background and comms.....Heaven. Though there is one thing I wish they had done in PW that they didn't: make the bosses more human. I get that we're fighting the CIA and so we have a lot more mech but aside from the Monster hunter bosses, it's ALL machines. PO will always have that over PW
+Rasamatazz I would love to see a remake of PO with the controls of MGSV. Also, I found out by accident one mission that you can drag the enemies to a single transport box and they'll all be delivered rather than having them carried out one by one.
it's 2024 already... can we finally know who this amazing singer Natasha Farrow is? probably a pseudonym... I think all of us deserve to know by now 🙏🙏
Almost 2022 and I still pay a visit to Shadow Moses Island as one of the best eras has ended. I play this song not only in tribute to one of the best stealth games in the series, but also to the one character that got into one of the best fighting games of all time.
Why the FUCK did they go so hard for a PSP game? This has to be one of my favorite themes in the series, up there with Snake Eater, and it’s from a fucking PSP game, and an early one at that. Genuinely shocked. Almost got tears coming out here. How even? Gonna be pondering this question for years lol.
@@FeelingShred fr, he undervalues this game, despite having one of the best underrated villain in the series, and inspiring him to create the new base mechanics of pw and V
I think this accurately represents Big Boss. This slow sad pace at the beginning (Having to kill The Boss) and keeps the sad pace going (sad moments) which erupts into this crescendo when Mother Base gets destroyed and Paz dies in Ground Zeroes, which is when Big Boss decides it is time for revenge, not caring for the consequences. And when done decides to try and make Outer Heaven, the perfect place where the strong can protect the weak.
One of my favorite songs in the whole series. It upsets me that people over look this game as a non canon, non-important entry to the series. A) Hideo Kojima himself has stated that this game is canon B) Not Important? Big Boss learning the truth on how the CIA used him to kill his mentor isn't important? The founding of FOXHOUND with Roy Campbell isn't important? Getting the idea of the Outer Heaven concept from Gene isn't important? Gaining the second half of the Philosipher's legacy and helping Zero found the Patriots (the shadow villain of the rest of the series) isn't important? ... people got a funny idea of what matters in a story don't they?
It's Important to a certain extent. Don't get me wrong, I love this game but: A) They way they Introduced the plot twist with the CIA didn't really need to be known. We knew from MGS3 that they used The Boss, and they were responsible for Snake having to kill her. B) MGS4 explained virtually everything we needed to know about the series and past games. It really wouldn't shut up, It explained everything. MGS:PO didn't really need to be there to explain much.
I'd say it's at least somewhat canon since there's a moment in Peace Walker where Kazuhira Miller mentions putting "that crap in San Hieronymo behind us". Try beating that logic
Same for people who consider Peace Walker to be non canon. Something very sad is that both PSP MGS games are amazing, bring so much to the overall story of MGS, explain so many things, gives us closure on how BB coped with having to kill his mentor, came to create the beta Outer Heaven etc... but stupid people want to consider these two gems non canon because they had a hard time playing it, or didn't have a psp and never played it so they don't want to acknowledge that very important lore that is canon exist bc they lack braincells. After having played Peace Walker and Portable Ops, I was so shocked that they had decided to release these two games with so many important plot details and amazing stories, and very important characters who had such a big impact on the rest of the games on the goddamn PSP, like Paz, she is such an important character, being the one who revealed Zero's location to Skullface, she is part of the main reasons why a lot of things turned real sour during MGSV and after, since if Zero had not been turned into a vegetable, he would've done everything to try and reconcile with BB or at least find an arrangement to never go against eachother as long as they minded their own business instead of causing a worldwide ruckus and creating the first strands of what inspired FOXDIE with the parasites. They're so good, to the point where Peace Walker became my second favorite MGS game after MGS2. It is that good. And I had never thought that a MGS game could be better than MGS3 (only after MGS2 though, MGS2 is unbeatable and will forever be the best MGS ever, fight me). PW is the only other game after MGS3 that had me trying real hard to hold in the tears as well. That scene where the Peace Walker drowns intself while singing Sing A Song. It suckerpunched me in the feels.
Through the night to the day When everything is gone Carry this soul away from the dry lands In the sun we see fighting over lines All our dreams and wishes we sent home for safe keeping Fighting for what’s right Calling to the night To dream again in the light Waiting for a storm to rise Feel the isolation fleeting Calling to the night To be or not to be fighting here Leaving without you, leaving my soul behind Calling to the night Colors of kodachrome fade with time Calling to the night For us, for every single life All the ashes of men remain as a perfect memory Calling to the night But the heart will remain As a silhouette of time Hear the ringing echos in the splitting horizon Calling to the night
I just wanted to comment that this video is practically as old as I am-while I can’t say to have played Portable Ops, it’s story and art style was so spectacular, it really deserves more attention.
+spongebobfan190 I seriously hope Kojima at least got to keep some of his IPs. Clearly not MGS as its Konami's last leg in the game industry, but I would like to see a continuation of Snatcher or at least a game version of SDatcher.
I mean it had really bad frame rate.....bad graphics.........and awful controls.........so unless they put this on ps3 or 4 its not underrated just hard to play
if metal gear have a good story, that's the only worth to me of this game, instead metal gear solid v have good gameplay and unfinished story and is the last serious metal gear
I was 11 when the first MGS came out for the ps1 I Have a legs disability I have to walk with crutches i was born with it but Solid Snake and big boss gave me the will to fight when i Felt down I am 31 now and still a fan of Meal gear saga thank you and remerber folks "The best is yet to come "
Play this song during act 2 of MGS4 where the 2 factions are fighting. This amazing emotional song being played during a battle with people dying all over the place is probably the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in a video game. It gave me chills like never before.
+Gamesta100 I put this song when I first entered Shadow Moses in Act 4, and stood on the landing platform as the voices played in Snake's head. I looked around the area, and saw how far Snake, and Metal Gear as a franchise have come. I cried.
Ah yes the theme of a Italian plumber, a blue hedgehog, a clone super soldier, a witch with guns, a bear and bird, a blocky human, a guy who's part devil, and some kid with a oversized key all fighting eachother.
When I first played Portable Ops, I fucking loved it. It was back in 07 or 08, back when PSP games had an excuse to have poor controls and a crappy framerate. But, I mainly loved it for the story it portrayed. It picks up where MGS3 left off almost perfectly. It tells a really powerful story of Big Boss, and how he finds out the truth about what happened. It makes how Big Boss feels during the events of Peace Walker make complete sense, too. Not to mention that some of the events that happened during this game is crucial to the story of how Big Boss founded MSF. The execution of this game's story was among the best of the series in my opinion. The Amanda Wood comic cutscenes take alot of getting used to, but once you get used to it, you truly see the beauty of this game's story. One of my favorite Metal Gear games, and just another reason why Big Boss is my favorite fictional character ever.
Ashley. His name is Ashley Wood.I'm a huge MGS fan. Loved the gameplay in PO (not the normal MGS gameplay, but that was okay since it wasn't really a regular game) but disliked how it used established characters in ways that wasn't needed and glossed over the parts that I wanted to see the most from this time period.
Sort of. He said that some of the details were wrong, but the general events were canon, more specifically. This extends to the main game, basically specific details aren't canon but the incident and general synopsis are canon. That's why PO is never included in official timelines
The art style and animation is not only striking but was a clever move to distinguish between the console games, and of course, the music is beautiful.
For such a comtroversial game in the Metal Gear series, you can't deny this is one of, if not THE best, vocal theme in the series. Absolutely beautiful.
It's really powerful, I dare to day more powerful than snake eater, but still can't say which one's better so just gonna say they are both...*does gun sillouette with both hands* PRETTY GOOD
+XhunterDragon96 I like this one more than Snake Eater's Merely because Snake Eater's theme is a call back to Bond movies. This one is just more dramatic and beautiful. Also, Snake Eater's theme sounds more like the emotions of someone in love with Snake, while this one sounds like the emotions of Snake himself.
I would be more curious to find out who this Natasha Farrow person is. She is credited as singer on this song but can't find anything else about her. Maybe a pseudonym. We need to know who this person is
Aww the feels man when the “fade with time” lyric hits and it shows the vision of the future! All i is hear in my head is “Snake your son will bring the world to ruin, your son will save the world” goosebumps
i remember i found this song in MGS4, in the snowy wolf area, just after the boss battle, i put on 'ipod' and just roamed around the snowy desert with the wolves howling , fucking epicness, i'll try to make a video of it, it's just too epic (manly tears)
now that you told me I'm gonna look for it on my next playthrough. that's what I love about metal gear, every playthrough you find something new or have new equipment to use next playthrough to add a different twist. it's the game that keeps on giving.
I was playing this when I walked into shadow Moses in chapter 4 I walked onto the helipad and looked around. I tried not to cry, but ended up crying a lot.
Mgs had me when no one did. When my friends and loved ones were stopping talking to me or growing distant, I came home with a heavy heart and turned on my console and played mgs. Some people kill themselves when they can't cope but us gamers have a weapon.
This shows why orchestras are so great they can really put emotion into anything here i am 15 years later still thinking of these songs and how my life has changed
It has already been 8 years from The phantom pain release and I'm playing the whole series again. Now with the announce of Metal Gear solid Delta, I hope that new generations can discover and play this series, it was a total shame that these games were not available on new generation consoles, and I'm so happy that this fall they will finally be on ps5 and i hope on pc xbox and switch also.
Damn, been 15 years since this was uploaded...this was the video I always clicked on when I wanted to listen to this song. Ever since I listened to this song back when I played SSBB (yes, at the time I wasn't familiar or even knew about MSG), I fell in love with it and always wanted to play on Snake's level just to hear it. Good times, honestly...good times.
Listen, I love snake eater so much! The game and the song are fantastic, calling to the night is the song that almost made me break down in tears, it was 2 AM and I was in my teens playing it on my PSP, I finally beat it then all of a sudden this beautiful song starts playing and as much as I wanted to I didn’t cry, although I did have a great appreciation for its beauty, and Natasha absolutely kills this performance
All these comments are so old. I’m still listening to this in 2019. All those other comments are crazy saying this series died. Kojima has his own production company now, I still have hope. It shouldn’t be that hard to obtain rights to his own game from Konami and I still believe Metal Gear isn’t done yet... then we’ll all hear it again.... Kept you waiting, huh?”
This game gave me hope when I was so depressed and struggling with school exams I thought I was done but then this game came out Im happy for it thank you Kojima
Same. When I heard this song playing in Smash Bros (that's the only way I know about the MGS series) this song had me crying. Such a sad yet beautifully sung song.
Series should not had MGS4 and 5... Gameplay was not that good... Peace walker and co are non-canon for me. Since MGS3, nothing is the same in infiltration style... he was the best of the best. MGS3 re-done would be great.
Played my first MGS game in 2007, same year this video was posted,I still remember it till this day, I had so much fun playing it on the PS1 , I wish I could turn back time to those days.
When I hear this song, I keep thinking how deep the feels would be if this were applied to the climax of Guns of the Patriots. I get goosebumps a mile high.
I remember when I got this song in smash bros brawl. I thought it was ok at first and I thought it sounded like My Heart Will Go On (same singer). It wasn't until later that I listened to the whole thing. It really hits you with the feels. This is one of the only video game songs to actually make me cry.
Same here. Now this song is to be played by every Snake main, not just as a tribute to one of the most famous stealth games on history, not just as a tribute to Snake getting into Smash Bros Brawl, but also as a tribute to the end of the Smash era.
The level of emotion that is felt when listening to this song is just insane like seriously. Can’t even begin to describe the feeling I get when I think back on the whole metal gear saga.
I never played Metal Gear, I only watched friends play it. However, the story behind the game really moved me and this is my favourite video game of all time based on what I witnessed and felt.
When you're lying on your stomach in MGS4, if you tilt you stick forward *just a little,* Snake moves forward extremely slowly, scooting along by humping the ground. I would put this song on and just do a nice slow crawl through the war zones. This song always makes me chuckle on the inside.
This franchise was amazing. I started playing when I was four. Now I am in my twenties. I am going to miss it all. I still miss MGO2 a lot as well. I made so many friends there who have since moved on long ago and lost touch.
the amount to effort put into the soundtrack is spectacular. the feelings and emotions that the song brings out and exploits are unlike any one you'll here before. it is truly an individual and unique piece.
I started playing MGS Franchise last year and one of the best things I enjoy is reading all the personal words everyone has to say to this God created series.
This song (and franchise) will always have a special place in my heart. I was recently in a tough spot in life. Someone very close to me passed away, and it wasn’t a peaceful passing either. I felt miserable. Eventually, I concluded that I have to escape from reality for a bit, so I decided to get around to playing a game franchise I’ve always wanted to: Metal Gear. My time with MGS1 was alright, but MGS2 was where things started getting good. I played MGR and MGS5 years ago, but forgot about most of it. I certainly didn’t forget about Raiden the badass cyborg ninja, though. I heard about the bait-and-switch with Raiden that MGS2 was infamous for, so I was eager to see the origins of my favorite cyborg in gaming. To my surprise (and delight), Raiden was super cute! His presence alone made MGS2 so memorable for me. And that final mission was just ooooh~! You know the one. After MGS2, I found out that I wouldn’t be seeing Raiden again for quite a while, and he won’t be the adorable soft boi I just saw. It seemed like that was the end of me swooning over MGS characters. That’s when *he* showed up. It was time for MGS3, a game heralded as one of the best ever made. My expectations were high, and boy did it deliver! The one moment that stuck with me the most was sneaking through Groznyj Grad, specifically finding a disguise. That’s when I saw him. Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov. Everything about him was perfect. I ended up liking him more than Raiden. The Volgin crotch grabbing scene was hilarious, and watching Volgin beat the snot out of Snake for daring to lay a finger on Raikov was kind of wholesome in an odd way. Then after “killing” Volgin, I immediately thought of Raikov, and how devastated he’ll end up being when he hears the news that Volgin is dead. I started to feel a bit bad, but then I felt this odd connection between this fictional character and I. A “misery loves company” sort of situation. We both knew the pain of loss, and that made him feel all the more relatable. Yeah, I can be pretty autistic sometimes. Why am I mentioning all of this? Because… it was time for Portable Ops! At first I was gonna skip this game. The canonicity of this game was hotly contested, and I heard it wasn’t all that good. In the end, I decided “better safe than sorry”, and I’m so glad I did. Later in the game, I got a report from my Spy Unit about a “handsome Soviet Major” in the area. Now, if I had a dollar for every time I got my hopes up, only to have them crushed thereafter, I’d have enough money to live in a mansion. So after a brief “Could it be…? Nah.” moment, I went and did the mission. To my delight, it *was* Raikov! I actually ended up crying tears of joy a little, as pathetic as that sounds. Not only was he acknowledged outside of a throwaway gag for MGS3, but he was playable, too! So I played as him for the rest of the game, never switching to anyone else (even when I really should have). After beating the game, I got to enjoy this wonderful song. I closed my eyes, and imagined myself sitting next to Raikov under a tree on a hilltop, watching the sun set over the ocean. Yes, I’m lonely. How did you know? Now anytime I hear this song, it makes me think of him. He’s not in Peace Walker, and I know he’s not in MGS5 (nothing a little modding can’t fix), so I guess outside of Pachinko Hell, this really is goodbye. I hope one day Konami decides to outsource their IPs to studios that actually give a hoot. Until then, I hope Raikov was able to move on with his life, and find a new man who will stay by his side ‘till death do they part.
A game series so inspired that when humanities spread through the Galaxy, long after our own extinction, this game will be still out there, being played, by someone or something. I just know it.
Every time I hear this song. It like the end of era for the stealth game. We will never get any good stealth games now. It all about battleground games now. ; _ ;

Through the night to the day
When everything is gone
Carry this soul away from the dry lands
In the sun we see fighting over lines
All our dreams and wishes, we send home for safe keeping
Fighting for what’s right
Calling to the night
To dream again in the light
Waiting for a storm to rise and
Feel the isolation fleeting
Calling to the night
To be or not to be fighting here
Leaving without you, leaving my soul behind
Calling to the night
Colors of Kodachrome fade with time
Calling to the night
For us, for every single life
All the ashes of men remain as a perfect memory
Calling to the night
But the heart will remain
As a silhouette of time
Hear the ringing echos in the splitting horizon
Calling to the night

Rest in Peace Jonathan, Elisa/Ursula, Paz, Chico, Eva, Ocelot, Kaz, Venom Snake, Quiet, Naomi, Sniper Wolf, Liquid, Solidus, Big Boss, Solid Snake and every beloved character who died in the Metal Gear Franchise.
+Prehistoric Terminator Sad to say you left out Solid it been a long time since mgs4 so he sadly has passed away.
You also left out raiden but he guess he didn't die in the series at all
Wait Solid is dead!!! NOOOO!!!
+Prehistoric Terminator yes he had like 6 months to live after mgs 4
+Logan Spejewski no, the new foxdie fought the old fox die at the end and he had a normal life remaing of an 83 years old i guess
My God this song just gets to you no matter how much you've hardened. It's like it's telling you to embrace what pain you've endured and release it with tears. Get teary eyed every time
That's a great way to describe it.
No matter how many times I hear it, it always gets to me.
This song alone is enough to make me want to keep Portable Ops canon.
Agreed but I never understood why it's status as canon came under scrutiny. It was accepted as canon for years and footage of it was used in MGS4.
@@TBrizzle01it's been scrutinized? It's literally in the mgs4 database
They probably removed it from the canon because fans would demand a remake which would be pretty difficult I imagine
To me, this is more Canon that the horrible story of The Phantom Pain, the most disapointed MG game ever :(
A very beautiful song, but I'll always be reminded of this scenario whenever I listen it:
I was watching my cousin was play MGS4 and this track was playing on Snake's iPod.
Song: "Calling to the-"
*gunshot*
Snake: "NGYAAAAAAAAAH!!" *dies*
The timing couldn't have been better.
xD lmfao
LMFAO That laughed the shit out of me! LMAFO
HAHAHAHAHAH😂
If Big Boss was a real person , I would have no problem joining MSF.
+Jonathan Aranda damn right
+Med Aymane no they hate everything that is not them
Big Boss fights for the right for everyone to choose. They may follow a nation or a belief or something entirely different. ISIS are a group who force there will unto others, to try and change our beliefs. If anything, ISIS takes after XOF more.
+Med Aymane What the fuck are you talking about you quack? Go soak your head fucktwat.
+Jonathan Aranda Big Boss is a FUCKING MONSTER

Whenever I hear about MGS, I remember this song. An absolute masterpiece! Brings back so many memories...
yep…it does….
I agree with you man! I even heard it in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. ^_^
Indeed..
I hope this song returns in Smash Ultimate.
Same dude
Portable Ops is an underrated masterpiece in terms of storytelling
It's unfortunate so many people skim over Portable Ops. I think it was pretty good, and it's got a really awesome theme (as you can see here)
+Rasamatazz I grabbed a copy myself in the day, and whilst I will say it is one of the best stories of the lot, I hate how clunky it is. the Fulton system SAVED PW for me, and if it had been in Portable Ops, or at least something like it, it would have been GLORIOUS
thebladeofchaos True, dragging soldiers all the way back to your truck was SO TEDIOUS.
+Rasamatazz I actually liked the story for PO way more than PW but as said, the controls were horrible that it slightly took away from it.
+Rasamatazz I would love to see a remake of PO with the controls of MGSV. Also, I found out by accident one mission that you can drag the enemies to a single transport box and they'll all be delivered rather than having them carried out one by one.
Loyalty... and calling.
Two things that a real soldier like Big Boss can do for himself.
Fabian Aschigaru Salutes for Big Boss , Not as US Army member , But As A Soldier
Filip Wolski Fabian Aschigaru neither as a us army member nor a soldier.
But, as a man.
Sendy Lie your quite the mgs addict arent you. i like it. iv seen you comment on all kinds mgs vids. lol
Sendy Lie WTF didn't I watch you somewhere else!? The internet is becoming smaller these days, xDDDDD
Sendy Lie Loyalty and calling to oneself... am I wrong for thinking that sounds nuts?
Damn this song is so sad, but I love it so much
+Bawesome Kid yea this song is great
+Bawesome Kid the song truly shows the tragic life of Big Boss
+Bawesome Kid I found you brother (of picture) :D
+Hectorin Salmoran (Liquid Voice)

Brooooootheeerr! It's Been too long!!!!
it's 2024 already... can we finally know who this amazing singer Natasha Farrow is? probably a pseudonym... I think all of us deserve to know by now 🙏🙏
Apparently its her real name.

2:26 🥲
That lyrics honestly is so fucking powerful. Alongside this entire song
2019 and this song still give me chills when I hear it. This women has an amazing voice
linkuei83 yeah... about 2020, the best isn’t yet to come until 2021.
It’s been postponed
Almost 2022 and I still pay a visit to Shadow Moses Island as one of the best eras has ended. I play this song not only in tribute to one of the best stealth games in the series, but also to the one character that got into one of the best fighting games of all time.
Why the FUCK did they go so hard for a PSP game? This has to be one of my favorite themes in the series, up there with Snake Eater, and it’s from a fucking PSP game, and an early one at that. Genuinely shocked. Almost got tears coming out here. How even? Gonna be pondering this question for years lol.
Kurohyou ryu ga gotoku is a banger!
let's be honest here: Kojima was the worst enemy of Metal Gear Solid... this game made without him perfectly captures what we wanted from an MGS game
@@thegamingprozone1941 I love Yakuza to death and Kurohyou as well. They also went WAY TOO HARD on those games. I love ‘em.
And with it, his descension to madness begins ...
One of my favorite songs in the whole series. It upsets me that people over look this game as a non canon, non-important entry to the series.
A) Hideo Kojima himself has stated that this game is canon
B) Not Important? Big Boss learning the truth on how the CIA used him to kill his mentor isn't important? The founding of FOXHOUND with Roy Campbell isn't important? Getting the idea of the Outer Heaven concept from Gene isn't important? Gaining the second half of the Philosipher's legacy and helping Zero found the Patriots (the shadow villain of the rest of the series) isn't important?
... people got a funny idea of what matters in a story don't they?
I too used to think that Portable Ops wasn't canon, but now that I've seen this comment, I know that it's an important piece of the Metal Gear Saga.
It's Important to a certain extent. Don't get me wrong, I love this game but:
A) They way they Introduced the plot twist with the CIA didn't really need to be known.
@@nerdmanjones Wasn't that added only in the English Dub?
Through the night to the day
When everything is gone
Carry this soul away from the dry lands
In the sun we see fighting over lines
All our dreams and wishes we sent home for safe keeping
Fighting for what’s right
Calling to the night
To dream again in the light
Waiting for a storm to rise
Feel the isolation fleeting
Calling to the night
To be or not to be fighting here
Leaving without you, leaving my soul behind
Calling to the night
Colors of kodachrome fade with time
Calling to the night
For us, for every single life
All the ashes of men remain as a perfect memory
Calling to the night
But the heart will remain
As a silhouette of time
Hear the ringing echos in the splitting horizon
Calling to the night
Keegan Stormblade Thanks for the lyrics man!
Link Hylian You're welcome.
I just wanted to comment that this video is practically as old as I am-while I can’t say to have played Portable Ops, it’s story and art style was so spectacular, it really deserves more attention.
thats mad! I feel old lol 😂I was about 18 when I edited this together lol
Thank you Kojima for bringing us Metal Gear, Snatcher and Policenauts.
+spongebobfan190 I seriously hope Kojima at least got to keep some of his IPs. Clearly not MGS as its Konami's last leg in the game industry, but I would like to see a continuation of Snatcher or at least a game version of SDatcher.
Sparse Dunes And also, I don't see this happening, but an official localization of Policenauts would be nice.
spongebobfan190
that would be nice too.
+spongebobfan190 And, and Zone of the Enders
+spongebobfan190 Don't forget Zone of the Enders. We can probably thank him for whatever new IP he and his new team are working on.
LOOK!
UP IN THE SKY!
IS A BIRD?
IS A PLANE?
NO!
IT'S AN UNDERRATED GAME!
I mean it had really bad frame rate.....bad graphics.........and awful controls.........so unless they put this on ps3 or 4 its not underrated just hard to play
I don't know. I didn't have many problems with the control and the graphics, well, it's PSP so its forgivable (except for the colors. They're Awful)
+Mars Xepher graphics were very good for its time. loved the art cutscenes too
if metal gear have a good story, that's the only worth to me of this game, instead metal gear solid v have good gameplay and unfinished story and is the last serious metal gear
Zahinn Oh the comic style i loved i will admit that and i would play this instead of metal gear survive
I was 11 when the first MGS came out for the ps1 I Have a legs disability I have to walk with crutches i was born with it but Solid Snake and big boss gave me the will to fight when i Felt down I am 31 now and still a fan of Meal gear saga thank you and remerber folks "The best is yet to come "
this song really hits different in recent days, doesn't it?
When you Realize Raiden is one of the last soldiers who made it alive....
Play this song during act 2 of MGS4 where the 2 factions are fighting. This amazing emotional song being played during a battle with people dying all over the place is probably the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in a video game. It gave me chills like never before.
*MGS4
+Gamesta100 I did accidentally, and it blew my mind
+Gamesta100 I did it while having equipped the machine gun, shooting to everything while Snake was screaming.
+Gamesta100 I put this song when I first entered Shadow Moses in Act 4, and stood on the landing platform as the voices played in Snake's head. I looked around the area, and saw how far Snake, and Metal Gear as a franchise have come. I cried.
So many feels so much has happened in this series so much lost......
This song is unspeakably beautiful
Ah yes the theme of a Italian plumber, a blue hedgehog, a clone super soldier, a witch with guns, a bear and bird, a blocky human, a guy who's part devil, and some kid with a oversized key all fighting eachother.
Clearly, this is one of my favorite Metal Gear Solid songs.
The Medic aka the damn fiddle
Kojima said it is canon, but some minor things weren't canon (Basically mpo+ wasn't canon)
+spideyfan300 Wish my PSP wasn't busted.
Big Boss >>> Solid Snake
Sort of. He said that some of the details were wrong, but the general events were canon, more specifically. This extends to the main game, basically specific details aren't canon but the incident and general synopsis are canon. That's why PO is never included in official timelines
I remember playing MGS4, I would always play the game while listening to this song on the Ipod.
How is it controversial?
+carsisbest It wasn't directed by Kojima, so some mgs fans automaticaly write it off.
I would be more curious to find out who this Natasha Farrow person is. She is credited as singer on this song but can't find anything else about her. Maybe a pseudonym. We need to know who this person is
Aww the feels man when the “fade with time” lyric hits and it shows the vision of the future! All i is hear in my head is “Snake your son will bring the world to ruin, your son will save the world” goosebumps
i remember i found this song in MGS4, in the snowy wolf area, just after the boss battle, i put on 'ipod' and just roamed around the snowy desert with the wolves howling , fucking epicness, i'll try to make a video of it, it's just too epic (manly tears)
now that you told me I'm gonna look for it on my next playthrough. that's what I love about metal gear, every playthrough you find something new or have new equipment to use next playthrough to add a different twist. it's the game that keeps on giving.
it's right after the boss fight ! when you go inside the small room leading down to the room with the little tripod things haha
I was playing this when I walked into shadow Moses in chapter 4 I walked onto the helipad and looked around. I tried not to cry, but ended up crying a lot.
too bad you never did
Mgs had me when no one did. When my friends and loved ones were stopping talking to me or growing distant, I came home with a heavy heart and turned on my console and played mgs. Some people kill themselves when they can't cope but us gamers have a weapon.
🙏🤘🤘💪💪that's the spirit
Best way to lower your stress level.
This shows why orchestras are so great they can really put emotion into anything here i am 15 years later still thinking of these songs and how my life has changed
R.I.P, Jonathan. your ashes will not be scattered across the heartless sea.
Um, sorry. Wasn't his real name is Jack ? The real Big Boss ? That badass ?
Can Onur Oz no, thats Snake. Jonathan was the first soldier that joins your team and sticks with you the entire game.
+Metal Fury In which game ? MGS 1 ? I don't noticed him
Can Onur Oz MGSPO (portable ops) on the PSP.
Will make diamonds out of his ashes. Carry them into battle. A shining light, even in death.
I honestly think this is the best song of the entire series
heavens divide or quiet's theme a close second but i think thats just because of Stephanie Jooston voice!
In my opinion this is straight up the best sounding song in the entire series...
Same.
It’s been... 14 years.
I remember playing MGS1 at launch...
I’m truly seeing my life flash before my eyes LMAO.
"All the ashes of men remain as a perfect memory."
Gets me every time.
This Song still gives my arms chills!
Salute to all teens of early 2000s... these years was gold! miss them so much!
This game gave me hope when I was so depressed and struggling with school exams I thought I was done but then this game came out Im happy for it thank you Kojima
I got man tears dropping out my eyes amazing song.
Same. When I heard this song playing in Smash Bros (that's the only way I know about the MGS series) this song had me crying. Such a sad yet beautifully sung song.
Such an underrated game, even Kojima himself pretends like this game doesn't exist even though Peace Walker bases most of its ideas off of PO.
How the hell does he? He's openly said that PO is canon to the Metal Gear Saga.
Series should not had MGS4 and 5... Gameplay was not that good... Peace walker and co are non-canon for me. Since MGS3, nothing is the same in infiltration style... he was the best of the best. MGS3 re-done would be great.
never played mgs4 but mgs5 gameplay was great, problem is that it had an unfinished story
i mean the story they never ended up chapter 2 and never implemented chapter 3
MGS4's gameplay was spectacular, MGSV has the best gameplay of the whole series, probably the best stealth gameplay available too.
Played my first MGS game in 2007, same year this video was posted,I still remember it till this day, I had so much fun playing it on the PS1 , I wish I could turn back time to those days.
*Manly Tears.
When I hear this song, I keep thinking how deep the feels would be if this were applied to the climax of Guns of the Patriots. I get goosebumps a mile high.
"You've erased all the markings...
But every one of them will always be with you..."
✌🏼😭
Isn't portable ops one u can't even destroy 😭
I loved it when I played this song while fighting the new sniper wolf in metal gear solid 4. it was a spiritual experience
you even talking like vulcan raven right there
Genome soldier : Huh ? what was that noise ?
Me : that was the calling of the night beauty sound fella
Not many songs make me cry. This is one of em
This is the best song in the MGS series so far
Does anyone else just play this song and stand in the rain?
No... but that sounds good.
I just watch cumshots in slow motion and the song makes it looks like they died in battle by the hand of a penis.
IceBankMyselfTV
Haha, oh wow, this guy!
oh wow man that's deep
yeah its amazing to walk through the pooring rain with that song playing..
Still one of my favorite songs to this day. Gives me chills listening to it everytime / w \
Same man. I came to the series very late. Only able to play mgs 5. The rest I watch on youtube. But it instantly became my fav saga
The last part where Jonathan died, I felt it :(
Portable Ops is such a fantastic game, it shouldn't be as underrated as it is
Im gonna cry😪
Thank you Kojima san and his amazing team for Metal Gear games🐐
When you're lying on your stomach in MGS4, if you tilt you stick forward *just a little,* Snake moves forward extremely slowly, scooting along by humping the ground. I would put this song on and just do a nice slow crawl through the war zones.
This song always makes me chuckle on the inside.
he does the worm. i remember that XD.
I want this played at my funeral :')
I'd cry at ur funeral

i'd cry with you too

For such a small game system, this is such a huge song. It's probably my favorite from the entire series.
the amount to effort put into the soundtrack is spectacular. the feelings and emotions that the song brings out and exploits are unlike any one you'll here before. it is truly an individual and unique piece.
the soundtrck sins of the father for mgs5 is epic also
I started playing MGS Franchise last year and one of the best things I enjoy is reading all the personal words everyone has to say to this God created series.
Listening to this while I heard they are making a mgs3 themed pachinko game.
THE BOSS DIED FOR THIS.
wiike557 it was a spinoff
“But the heart will remain as a silhouette of time. Hear the ringing echoes in the splitting horizon”
I s as m in love with that lyric

Blood spilled, tears wept, laughs bellowed...
