Your tutorials are amazing. I did not just learn how to model a butterfly the quick and dirty way but I also learnt a lot of techniques, particularly 'project from view'. Thanks a lot.

Only 5 minutes in and I want to let you know I appreciate you saying that the wings aren't just two giant parts, but actually four pieces. That helps me understand things more about wing anatomy, which will help me when I want to build my own wing designs in the future. Thank you very much for this.

Tysm for the "recalculate" tip. I've always had issues with my verts overlapping uncomfortably.

What a great teacher! No fuss, love the quick and dirrrty aspect! I've used this to build my own fairy wings :) loads of good guidance.

Very, very nice tutorial. Doesn't skip steps. Beginners go nuts trying to figure out skipped steps! Also fast paced, no folksy storytelling. And very nice english pronunciation. I'm making a moth, but it'll have a big splash effect where it's going to fly!

Come on man! I was trying to model a butterfly like... 5 days now! Ok. Jokes aside, this is a really good and simple tutorial to follow. At the very least, can be used as a base mesh for a variety of projects. Thank you.

Thanks for the tutorial, in my model I change a couple of things, I use a round cube, the capsule shape for the body, and 2 uv spere 8 segments for the eyes, I do the changes because I was having troubles getting a shape I like using the cube. Also in the material I add a bump map I i like how the surface look. Any way thanks for the video was fun to do this, and have a nice day.

    Hey there!
This is a wonderful beginner's tutorial. And the result is absolutely pleasing!
I have one minor note: Selecting everything in Edit Mode and rotating the object that way is a bad habit. Not only will it impact Viewport performance with higher poly models, but it will also mess up the local orientation axes that tend to be nearly unfixable later on, even when applying rotation. Just rotate it in object mode. :)

    Thanks for sharing, nice tutorial.
If you activate the addon "Add Mesh: Extra Objects" which ships with Blender, you get a single vert without going through the plane stuff. To extrude the vertex, you can just CTRL rightclick, you don't have to press E.

@@bimodesign1815 Check if the selection mode is set to vert. Maybe you are in edge or face mode.

Love the vid, but cannot get the step at 5:20 to work at all D: Any ideas? Been trying off/on for a few hours and gonna just skip that part now. It ends up stretching the shape very oddly.
