The song is a tribute song about Ernest Tubb also known as The Texas Troubadour and references his most famous song, WALKING THE FLOOR OVER YOU. Tubb was an early country music legend who influenced generations of country music singers.
When I was in high school in the fifties, my sister and I would get off the bus after an eight mile bus ride, go in the house and turn on the radio and listen to The Charle Walker show out of San Antonio, Tex Charle was a famous country disc jockey. He played classics as well as current music. So imagine what classics were like in 1950’s . Charlie even had a couple of hits himself, including Don’t Squeeze my Charming, Pick me up on Your Way Dow, and The Chocolate Song. This song reminds me of the kind of music we got to listen to every day back then.
Love 💖 it yeah 👍 I have been listening 🎧 to it going down 😅 the WV home 🏘️ 🛣️ rodes a great singer and u have been a great review Don I love his songs have a great day.
I’m not sure if you’ll see this, but the pedal steel intro was made up on the spot. No sheet music or anything, just “whatever you think sounds good” and one take later, they had this sound If you do see this, please please please do Moe Bandy: To Cheat or Not to Cheat! Thanks from a trucker who you’ve passed thousands of miles with
Vern Co-wrote and sang it first, but it has been covered by a few people. Jamey Johnson is the 1st that comes to mind, but I think Daryl Singletary and Cris Stapleton did as well. Break my Mind was actually a George Hamilton IV song covered by Vern as well as Linda Ronstadt and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Vern had the best rendition by far. Rating was on spot.
I don't think so much its the song , I think its Vern I love his smoothness . Cant do any better than this ! Thanks so much for this one and yes the real deal !
I think this is my favorite Vern Gosdin song. When you said that Alan Jackson sometimes sounds similar to Vern, I believe he did influenced Alan. (Read it somewhere.) Would any of the Texans here consider this a two-step?
Thanks a lot for thinking of me, anyway. 'Set 'em Up, Joe' is also a great song; I like the visual of 'running a needle through' the album. If you're still interested in 'Break My Mind' there's a good version on youtube, posted by oldecountry, or maybe you can check out 'Too Old to Die Young,' a beautiful tune by Moe Bandy. Thanks again, and keep 'em flyin.'

EXACTLY
When you get a steel guitar intro like that you know you're getting real country.
Good Lord have mercy! This is one of my all time favorite country songs. Vern had an amazing voice.
Time to do ol B24, Ernest Tubb "Walking the Floor over You" ET's signature song.
shot of the old trubadores Ernest Tubbs band E T , Ernest tubb. Totally missed this. Ernest tubb tribute song
Vern Gosdin was one of many artists who recorded a duets album with Ernest Tubb. This is a song that just mentions Ernest Tubb.
I luv this man. ..it's a goodun by him. Ty for reaction.

Why this man isn’t in the country music hall of fame is a travesty.
My favorite Vern Godsin song is “this ain’t my first rodeo”
Agree
Hard to choose but I'll say "Right in the Wrong Direction "

Man, you HAVE to check out my favorite Vern Gosdin song, “Is It Raining At Your House”. For me, it’s the most underrated country song of all time.
That's my favorite song he has too!
Chiseled in stone
Life long fan of Vern and just heard a month ago Vern's "I Know the Way To You By Heart". Best of the best chorus'/bridges in country music.
Love this one!
It's hard to believe he hadn't heard of this famous tune.
Love me some of the Voice. 'That Just About Does It, Don't It' would be another good one of his to react to sometime.
Had never heard of Vern Godsin. Thanks loved it👍
Always loved this song. ET is Ernest Tubbs who sang Walkin The Floor, thats what B24 was.
Sucks you in, THATS country. They tell a story. 3 chords and the truth.
B24 and ET references Ernest Tubb's "Walking the floor over you"
Thanks, Don! Can't beat Vern in the morning. Love his rendition of "Jesus, Hold My Hand"!

Cal Smith. The Lord Knows I'm Drinking or his signature number, Country Bumpkin plz.
Also Charlie Walker, 'Please Don't Squeeze My Sharmin'
Can't go wrong with Vern's voice, Vern Gosdin, Dean Dillon, Buddy Cannon and Hank Cochran writing it!
Set up joe is another song of ernest tubb you can do sweet Thang by ernest tubb and lorreta Lynn that was a good duo
I didn’t know that thank you for that little tidbit of information.
This nickname certainly fits. Made me think of an idea for your country heart series. Mac Wiseman, I believe was known as, the voice with a heart.

Vern Gosdin is a true country legend, not Sure if he has a song I didn’t like.
Please react to Faron Young. Any of his songs.
