Dig the outfit on Robert Goulet! He looks like the cameo of the week on Hawaii 5-0. Carson’s straight man interview style with his guest comedians was brilliant - wind them up and let them carry the show. Rodney had all the style of the greatest laugh machines: rapid head and eye movement, rolling the eyes, the east coast accent, the moving hands and non-stop one liners. He was an encyclopedia for jokes; all he needed was a key word, like cars, girls, cocktails or
Sports, and he knew 40 jokes along each topic. Must have had a memory and a mind like a computer. Classics, Dangerfield and Carson.

Joan Rivers called Carson "the greatest straight man ever. He knew exactly when to stay quiet and when to set up the punchline." He proved it every time Jack Roy was his guest.

Love when Rodney breaks a character when a joke doesn’t do that great or Johnny derails his routine. His reaction is priceless
