I saw Rodney in the 80s. He came out and rattled off jokes non stop for over an hour , I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breath . Thank you for all the laughs Mr Dangerfield, a legend
I saw him in 1989. Same thing. He did 90 minutes of one liners (that works about to about 360). By the end of the show, people were exhausted. That night, he was as funny as any comedian I have heard, before or since. He _killed_ that night.

I was just wondering who that person was. I recognized the three others. I was born in the 1970’s so Robert was a little before my time. Thanks for the info
Loved the appearance where Carson showed pictures highlighting Uecker's baseball career and Bob shared the jokes and stories behind them. It was hilarious. Johnny always made his guests look good.
Having seen a few of Rodneys clips from his many Carson appearances it really makes me wonder just how many...jokes this guy had in his head. A few I have heard before but many are new and they just KEEP ON COMIN. He was killin Bob Goulet in this clip and of course Carson figured out early just get Rodney pushed away from the dock and he'll go for 20 minutes solid. All time fav. Classic delivery keeps even the older stuff fresh. Amazing
For eleven minutes, I laughed myself out of breath! Thank you for this classic entertainment! Love Rodney and Johnny together and this clip was one of their absolute BEST!
These were the years of total Class on late night television. Johnny wrote the book on it. The respect he had for his guests was a wonderful thing to see.
Great times staying up as a kid at my grandparents house watching Johnny Carson. Everyone else was asleep. Just me watching The Tonight Show on a huge Magnavox color TV with a remote that weighed 5 pounds. Watching the boring local 11 0 clock news till finally at 11:30 and then...here's Johnny!
Rodney Dangerfield spent a LOT of time rehearsing his new material over and over in not only his club, but other little clubs. He wanted to get it perfect. I think this is one reason so many other comedians look up to him.
Was 11 when this aired. Wasn't allowed to stay up that late. Would do my best to sneak close enough to hear, though, and always got caught. I just wanted to share in the laughter, but was always denied. Thanks to this platform, I can finally watch.
I saw Robert Goulet in a Safeway grocery store in San Francisco in maybe 1983 and he was walking up & down the grocery isles with his shopping cart loudly singing opera. I'll never forget that!!!!!!!! 👍😆
Different breed of men back then. Veterans, didn't grow up with television, certainly no Internet, you made your own entertainment. Rodney, Johnny and Ed grew up in a different era. Greatest generation. I miss my grandfather a lot.
Whoaaa!! Rodney kills it again! Caddy shack. Back to School. The man had the riff and rapid fire brain. Easy Money. So swift and right on target!! Goulet cracked up repeatedly. Classic funny
this was one of his best, in my opinion, performances on Carson...Fonzo's Knuckle Room...Fonzo was tough He'd say to me: "Be funny. People come here to forget their troubles." How do you forget you're up for manslaughter.
Dig the outfit on Robert Goulet! He looks like the cameo of the week on Hawaii 5-0. Carson’s straight man interview style with his guest comedians was brilliant - wind them up and let them carry the show. Rodney had all the style of the greatest laugh machines: rapid head and eye movement, rolling the eyes, the east coast accent, the moving hands and non-stop one liners. He was an encyclopedia for jokes; all he needed was a key word, like cars, girls, cocktails or Sports, and he knew 40 jokes along each topic. Must have had a memory and a mind like a computer. Classics, Dangerfield and Carson.
Joan Rivers called Carson "the greatest straight man ever. He knew exactly when to stay quiet and when to set up the punchline." He proved it every time Jack Roy was his guest.

Bob Uecker is one of the very best "deadpan" comedians ever. He was a great addition to the "Major League" movie.
