Tonight Show with Johnny Carson 29th Anniversary - 10/3/1991

- Johnny Carson's 29th anniversary episode was on October 3, 1991, and was the last anniversary show before his final show the following May. It's primarily a clip show, with a topical monologue, and with Carson on a lot of cold medication. Still brilliantly funny. Includes commercials for maximum nostalgia.
Technical: Recorded on a RCA VR671HF VHS VCR in SP hi-fi via average cable signal onto Maxell XL-HIFI T120 videotape. Some luminance and chroma corrections applied, and upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve motion and image quality. - Приколы
Thank you so much for keeping this precious piece of history alive.
There's no greater late night host than Johnny Carson. And I mean period.
Agree 100 percent !!!!!😂
I totally agree; there isn’t anyone who can replace him. So genuinely funny and not mean or filthy humor.
Finally, the full 90 minutes of Johnny's last anniversary show as host of "The Tonight Show".
There is a reason why no one else lasted as long as Johnny Carson. The best!
David Letterman lasted 3 years longer than Carson. Look it up.
@@Mr21scottCarson's career was longer look it up. Carson still better. I never liked Letterman Personal opinion.
@@mitchg64Carson liked Letterman!! He never liked Leno.
I like Leno more than Letterman just opposite of how Carson felt.
@@wilnerolivier7971 Johnny could have stayed on air longer. He chose to retire after 30 years
Man I miss this show...
The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was the best of all the late night talk shows and remains so to this day.
The Tonight Show name should have been retired with Johnny in 1992 - and a new named show replacing it. That is what Craig Ferguson said should have happened.
@@johnking5174 100%!! The fact the Tonight Show name is attached to some1 like Jimmy Fallon is a travesty!!
This and Letterman's NBC show at 12:30.

0:52, The greatest late night talk show host of ALL TIME! Johnny Carson.
I really miss that man ❤😢
As a Brit we didn't see these shows live but Carson seems head and shoulders above the dross we see today.
I remember in the early 80s London weekend showed a few episodes of the tonight show. I remember it didn’t really caught on over here as the jokes were too American for us Brits to understand
His son died just a few months before this at 39. His son was trying 2 find good lighting to taking pictures and his car went off a cliff and he died instantly. They said Johnny was never the same after the passing of his son.
Never get over it 😢😢😢😢
But he didn't change as much as Dean Martin did
@@ATOK_what happened to dean martin? Can you share? I’m 25 I don’t know as much
@@mclaren720 his son also died in the late 80s and Dean Martin was never the same after that. It's good seeing another young person watching Carson. I'm only 21
I never knew he had a son😪
Johnny, eating the chip with the Chip Lady...just priceless!
yes , Johnny set that up perfectly !
I remember watching that night as a kid. Priceless!
Need more of Johnny Carson.
I miss Johnny Carson.
I miss Johnny - even now. Maybe especially now lol The world is crazier than it ever was
Johnny. didn't like politicians . He would have a field day in 2024 elections .
Regarding the commercial for the movie FISHER KING ...
I always thought that
Robin Williams DESERVED an Academy Award for his wonderful performance.
thanks for leaving the commercials in - it is fun to watch the difference in style!
They do not make tv like this anymore, soooooo funny!
Thank you.
imo, J.C. was the best interviewer ever. What a good listener. He asked just the right questions to bring out the humor and intelligence of his guests.
By watching Johnny I learned the right way to have a conversation with another.
He was kind, sincere and generous.
Damn those demonic cigarettes !! 😝
I expected he would come out of retirement to produce some great TV shows 😢😢.
I love this show! I love the skits and the stars in it! ;)
I love this version of the Johnny Carson theme!
32 years later and camry is still ono of the best cars In the world.
Johnny did a pretty darned good Willie impersonation. Julio did great to keep singing with a straight face.
Oh, and the only mention of Trump was that he needed to hock things. Some things never change.
Love that Johnny,,,😂
Great videos guys!!!!!
crazy hes on in 91 still what a streak
So enjoyable 😉
I'm sad I wasn't born when Johnny hosted "The Tonight Show". 30 Years of talent, laughs, and ingenuity. Him, Ed, Doc, Tommy Newsom, Freddy DeCordova, Bobby Quinn, they are all amazing. If you ask me Johnny's Tonight Show is the typical format of the Late Night talk show, while David Letterman (on NBC) and Craig Ferguson deconstructed the genre and made it even better.
I agree on all points. Except I'm sad I'm old enough to have been born when he was still fairly new to the show! 🤣
Awesome
I watch these reruns with fond memories of my mother, who been gone 40 years now, very nostolgic, John was a great people person, he did his interviewing well, miss him and my mom .
Miss this show bad. Fallon is terrible, not funny at all
Sorry, letterman did everything Steve Allen and Carson did. Plus hosting surviving actors and of the time. Just got more 21st century. Like how we now get to see this on RUclips any time you want.. like a oneway time machine.
Ferguson's show is the male Ellen show, flirting with woman and that's it.
😢I’m sorry about your Son
You have brightened up many nights for me and my family
There will never be a Johnnnnnnny Carson again. I watch reruns and there just isn't any fun to watch anymore
Thank you Johnny
The politician sketch @ 1:02!!😂 😂🤣🤣
As a teen, I watched Carson almost every evening.
When he left the show, I stopped watching it for a long time.
Leno was OK, but he wasn't Johnny !
1962-1992
What a roast of Cher.
1:28:19 That's a pretty rare in-credit logo right there.
1:04 They used the tacky NBC buzzer used on shows like the nighttime Hollywood Squares.
No one in late night i n 2022??could come close to jc ??terrible
Boy,the politician skit is spot on, if he was still alive and on he'd have all kinds of material from the DNC.
RNC - Trump lost.
@@Zenutheduck LOL A dem Ftard.....
You're a moron,just like Biden...
@@rider660r "We won with the poorly educated. I LOVE the poorly educated." - Trump to his supporters like you.
Trump was the best president we've had for decades! You may not like the man himself but when it came to the political issues, he was right 👍 stick to the issues and put the country before your party. My opinion and many will agree with me because America has changed from the great nation it once was. Now it's all hate speech!
@Zenutheduck, you voted for a guy who can't remember his sentences he needs a index card to anwer qestions you serious
They wore bow ties for tv “anniversaries “
Burt Landcaster's best movie was Run Silent; Run Deep. the best submarine movie showing.
So correct my friend! Thanks
How big are they
Jay Leno, David Letterman
Leno was great 👍 Letterman was too silly for me, but I would watch him if he had a good guest.
What's spooky about the Foot Reader was that she said, "You will marry again, a fourth time." I think by that point, he had just barely married Joanna (wife #3).
Love the commercial Marijuana and Cocaine has dropped in teens. Remember them idiots putting a drug that never killed anyone in with lethal drugs, alcohol was fine but ..lol
A drug that never killed anyone??? Is that what you said? And that makes sense to you?
@@yankee2666 Quiet idiot, I've been studying Cannibus for decades along with other drugs and alcohol and there's not one documented case where a person overdosed on pot! The chemical's in Cannibus cannot cause CNS depression. Opioids, Meth, cocaine, alcohol yes. It was banned globally due to ignorance of the drug and greed. Start with America fool, Google. 1937 Harry Anslinger, Reefer Madness, go fool start reading and learn. Then Google England, 1925 Cannibus. @@yankee2666 Well???
@@m42037 I guess you missed the part about lung cancer. Cox regression analyses (n = 44,284) found that such "heavy" cannabis smoking was significantly associated with more than a twofold risk (hazard ratio 2.12, 95 % CI 1.08-4.14) of developing lung cancer over the 40-year follow-up period, even after statistical adjustment for baseline tobacco use, alcohol use, respiratory conditions, and socioeconomic status. Of course, none of this has f/a to do with Johnny Carson.
When I was a kid I remember Maher and Seinfeld were the worst comedians. I see I was right.
NBC should have left the show fade away after he retired.....instead of killing it with Leno
Leno and Fallon were/are pathetic. The only reason I ever watched it after Johnny was Conan. and he was never given a chance.
@@crazyelf62 Yes really... and Conan wasn't even that good.
Carson was a host who kept the focus on his guests; Leno was a comedian who kept the focus on himself. Haven’t watched Late Night shows since Carson retired.
And even worse Fallon! He's about as funny as a train wreck
Replaced a The most charismatic naturally funny man with a self indulgent moronic bore. I agree fully with your comment
Who are the 3 comedians at the end of this video?
Kathy Ladman, somebody Kotter, and John Mendoza.
Run the video back from the end.
Johnny announced their names before the clips.

No Rickles, Winters or Mel Brooks for this last anniversary special. Odd that.
Why is that odd? Curious.
