    Thanx muchly for sharing this little gem, Honeydew Hideout!
    I saw probably all of Johnny's Tonight Shows, first-run, and not again till now, so I thank you.
    I miss Johnny, and his Tonights.
    Always a fun show. And you usually learned at least one thing, too: whether it be something about the guest, or a critter, or a country, or the universe, or even a new joke.
    RIP, darling Johnny, and thanx so very much, for the magic, music, and memories.

    Not only was Johnny hugely hilarious, Ed McMann’s laugh in the background was so infectious, it is also what made the show so comical. Thanks for the memories.

    1:55 - well Johnny came close to this comedic prediction, as come 9 years in 1992 he would be gone, and terribly missed even to this day.

    Johnny Carson was it. He was da man for da job and that was it. He was da host with da most for this show and, although Leno was good, Carson was better by 150%.

      This was the "2nd" Digest after her botched first one. But technically it's 2nd version of the 2nd script. It's different than the "2nd" one that aired for the east cost. Fascinating find. It was not mentioned in the books about her whether or not she recorded new versions for the west coast feed. Based on this airing, looks like she did.

    I would like to see a longer version of the United Cerebral Palsy PSA with Geri Jewell from 1983. The PSA starts with a shot of Geri Jewell wearing a striped shirt and white pants while holding a microphone. The text "GERI JEWELL" appears onscreen. The camera then cuts to a shot of Geri Jewell's back with the audience next to it. The camera then does a close-up shot of Geri Jewell's striped shirt with a microphone in her hand, followed by a close-up shot of Geri Jewell's white pants. The camera then cuts back to a shot of Geri Jewell's back with the audience next to it. The camera then does a cropped shot of Geri Jewell wearing a striped shirt and holding a microphone, followed by a cropped shot of Geri Jewell wearing white pants. Finally, the text "Give to united cerebral palsy" appears onscreen along with the UCP logo.👍

    During the brief news break with Jessica Savitch, she would die in an accident 20 days later.

    The late NBC News anchor Jessica Savitch is at 58:46. This is a fascinating find. It's a different version of what broadcast at 9:58pm eastern time that night which was the second "NBC News Digest" of the evening. She slurred her words during the first one. NBC News execs thought it best for her to front the second one so people wouldn't think anything was up. I've always wondered if she recorded new versions for the west coast feeds. Comparing the two "2nd" Digests you can see they are different. Do you have the "first" one that aired just before the Carson special began? Here's a link to the east coast version. ruclips.net/video/EGFM3NtJ-Q0/видео.htmlsi=EIwDeLAq96Gf3fic&t=61

      Even less! 8 years later was the 29th anniversary show, which was only about 7 months before the final episode. One kinda wishes he would have stuck around through the summer break, and finished things off with a 30th anniversary special.

      @@AkumaAPNI wonder if idea was batted around and he denied it. If you recall on his last show, he said they wanted a big to do in primetime like these specials were, and he turned it down for a quieter ending instead. I have to think it was at least suggested to him at some point.

      It always kills me, when I hear Ed McMahan 😂 laughing so overly extra loud, that you know it wasn't all that funny, but he's hoping that you don't notice the truth. 😮

    • @AkumaAPN
      @AkumaAPN 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@chirelle.alanalooney8609 I think it's more usually found that Ed's extra big laughs are due to a look of bewilderment on Johnnie's face, like he's laughing at Johnnie's reaction, rather than the actual joke or situation.
