Can you please do a video on how you are able to seemingly move your toolbar to the top without just creating a duplicate of the same toolbar? this is so frustrating!

06:22 This means that envelope manager will open when you click on the Envelope button on a track TCP (instead of just opening the envelope window for this track). You want this active for sure. 😉
The only diff is that track envelope window autokill when focus is lost, and envelope manager stays open.
I use thousands of envelopes in my project. This is one of the nicest updates in a while for me.
Shift+Left-Click on the envelope button opens the envelope Manager by default. I think I‘ll keep it on a shortcut though.

@@nigelchristopherbrow Be sure to keep that top left dropdown box to "Selected Tracks". That's where the big power lies.
Thanks Alejandro. Simple and well explained as usual. I'm not using that much enveloppe manager, so it would have take time to me to discover this. I think this new design will make me go deeper into enveloppes use.

envelope manager similar to track manager or region manager is a really logical step forward,
I can only imagine it's a step towards reasonable FX chain automation with branching stuff?

i kinda still just use last touched item option cuz things like Vital Synth still have too many automation buttons, it's in the drop down menu, i thought that was a bit odd but it works

I think I'll be using this window more with this overhaul! The one thing I currently wish it had was the ability to default to everything BUT the main track envelopes collapsed.

I always use "Param" button in opened FX window, where you can choose the envelope to automate after just touching it. Never used the "Envelopes" window again after I found out about this button :)
Even with the new design this window seems inconvenient and even pointless to me
I like to map a shortcut to "FX: Show/hide track envelope for last touched FX parameter" - it's the quickest way to bring up an envelope I think! I do find the envelope window is nice for managing your envelopes at least, especially when you have tons ~

i find it very functional, more than fl and ableton, has a lot more going on but the ui ux can be improved definitely, that's true for most of the program.

First time I read about it in the change logs I though uuuh envelope manager? Then when you showed the old one I was "aaaaaaaaaah that thing" yes the new is way better . I did always choose "show the last touched" as otherwise it was just overcrowded.

I have a question, is it possible to dock two toolbars in reaper on top? for instance, I want to make a toolbar containing my fav plugins and have a toolbar with necessary actions/stuff and display both simultaneously!

How do I get that dark theme in Windows? It's bright white when I open a plugin, I would use Reaper if I could get rid of the 1990's white background.
How did you set these colors? With Reaper V.7 I still have this gray interface!

Alright, actually great. Now i hope in the new theme or something there will be more eye-friendly colors, because looking at deep purple lines on a dark grey background is really uncomfortable.
Peace by Ice Cold Milk is the theme that finally made me stop looking for new Reaper themes. It's incredible. The original developer is no longer working on it, but sockmonkey72 took it over and has made more updates to it.
Well, hey. If they redesigned the envelope window, maybe there's hope for the FX browser. One can dream. x)
Yessss I still can't believe they redesigned this. I would have never expected that from Cockos. Usually if things "work" they don't mind the looks. So maybe there's hope for more redesigns?! 🙏
I always read through the changelogs, hoping they've added a 24-slope option to ReaEQ, but they never do. Is it too much to ask for a 24-slope filter in your stock plugin?
Have you tried the JSFX ReEQ? It's similar to the FabFilter Pro-Q and can go up to 120dB slope.
At this point I dont expect reaper to progress anywhere beyond the 1990s

Yea I tried the new envelope window. All the FX came in expanded so now I have to scroll down instead of across. Not much of a difference to me.
Right click on the window and choose set default to collapsed 👌

I hope they finally do something with ReaTune and other plugins. It has a potential but usability and algorithms are like 20 years outdated. 😢
But can you make musik with it not the app stuff but with real instruments, amps and mics? If so it would be really cool to get a chance to watch. I have an older version version of both Reaper, Harrison Mixbus and Logic 9. I find Logic still is the fastest and easiest program to make music with. I mean for a rock or pop band with max 5 people do you really need 2 million tracks and a bunch of apps?
Yes. Reaper is very popular in the guitar/metal community, almost everyone uses it.

Ok now they need to fix the vst window interface so it doesn't look like 1998.
Its getting tiresome to use reaper because of stuff like this
that's the problem with windows, not Reaper.
@@E_-_- if you don't like the UI then don't use it. Reaper is miles ahead of every daw when it comes to flexibility and customization but if you prioritize pretty UI more than other things, then use whatever else you want.
How you make Reaper to be in dark mode?
Ειναι σε macOS οπου εκει σε προσφατη ενημερωση μπορεις να ενεργοποιησεις το dark mode natively . στα windows απο την αλλη δεν υπαρχει αυτη η επιλογή παρα μονο απο το να βαλεις theme στο οποιο εχουν αλλαξει τα χρωματα μεσω του theme tweaker. 🙂
Ας ελπισουμε να ενημερωσουν κ την εκδοχη των windows γιατι τα λευκα παραθυρα ειδικα αυτα για τα plugins οπως και τα πλαισια διαλογων ειναι κουραστικα στα ματια..

@@dimitrisgakis9206 ε ναι κ εμενα μου κανει την ιδια εντυπωση..δεδομενου οτι στα mac την υποστηριζει χωρις καποια τρελη παραμετροποιηση απλως το κανεις enable απο τα settings...βεβαια γενικοτερα για να φερουμε ολο το προγραμμα στα μετρα μας ειτε για μουσικη παραγωγη/ ειτε για ηχοληψια και μιξη θελει αφιερωση χρονου...εφοσον αφιερωθει πιστευω ειναι το πιο τιμιο daw.

it's not gonna happen unless microsoft rewrite their win32 api core library
Maybe Reaper team could use another API. But I get that. It would start to get bigger and buggy.

You might be able to make an action for it. (but it won't be smooth or visually pleasing lol)
not a fan of reaper envelopes. it curbs creativity
That UI was already tired when the dude stole it from Sony/Sonic Foundry.

IMHO: Good improvement but not so good to be honest. Once again: ergonomy is not taken into consideration. Do they really use the DAW to work with on daily basis? Indeed the Automation list *still* intimidating to ANY new Reaper's user. Indeed, when you have several plugins AND/OR plugins with several automation options, having the list expanded, si intimidating AND annoying.
Yes, one can state"ah but right click and.." no. Not any right click. Ppl need to work with. Needs immediate stuff. Not right-clicks, sub-menus, stuff buried somewhere. Especially when they have not familiarity with Reaper.
Since the development of this restyling, it was asked to keep the list shrinked by default (perhaps with the exception of the Track Envelopes), but all the rest: keep it shrinked by default. It turns the initial approach really easier and more soft.
Yea I agree the list should be collapsed by default. First impressions are very important!

I don't care I absolutely hate this more than FL and cubase put together. Give me ableton anyday of the week...NO thanks.
