Brett Scallions. This is when his vocals were prime. The man sang his heart out. Sang like it was his last time every single time.

    • @brandonjohnson8635

@@daniellamoreno3616 Brett left Fuel initially. Brett was later replaced by a guy by the name of Toryn Green. Fuel released a 2009 album with Toryn. Eventually founding member Carl Bell left causing the band to fall apart. At the time I think Brett was touring under the band name "Refueled". When Fuel fell apart and everyone left Brett came back and reformed Fuel. Brett has been back since like 2010 or 2011 but Carl Bell's lack of involvement has caused the songwriting to suffer significantly. The 2014 release is a totally different flavor of music and not in a good way imo. 😳😕 Totally disappointing if you are used to their old sound. 😐

Brett is a good vocalist, however, I believe that Carl Bell's songwriting was big factor in Brett's success as a vocalist. This new material is nothing special and "meh" if you ask me. Having said that, I really wish Carl and Brett would work together again.

Satan, you know where I lie
Gently I go into that good night
    All our lives get complicated
    Search for pleasures overrated
    Never armed our souls
For what the future would hold
    When we were innocent
    Angels, lend me your might
Forfeit all my lives to get just one right
All those colors long since faded
    All our smiles all confiscated
    Never were we told
    We'd be bought and sold
    When we were innocent
This prayer is for me tonight
This far down that line and still ain't got it right
And while confessions not yet stated
    Our next sin is contemplated
    Never did we know
    What the future would hold
Or that we'd be bought and sold

I totally agree with you. I have loved the band fuel ever since I heard bad day and never back down to name a few of them. I love this song also. His looks and his voice gives me chills. He has a huge passion for his music that this generation is missing. I miss my generation x period of life. I am 40 years old and still love the bands shinedown, Seether, Pop evil, creed and especially bush and fuel. This song is always played over and over again. I never get tired of hearing his voice. I will be like you and listen to them for the rest of my life. My son's generation doesn't understand my generation's music. Even though I love music from my parents time from the 70s. I am multigenerational with my music. I love any kind of music that makes me feel moved by the lyrics.

This is definitely their best song. I love all of their songs but there's just something about this one. I love the lyrics; the story it tells is beautiful and haunting. "Angels, lend me your might. Forfeit all my lives to get just one right."..."This prayer is for me tonight. This far down that line and still ain't got it right ." I feel lost all the time. At times when I feel like that, I feel like this song is written about me.

This song reminds me of the optimistic outlook of the future I had when this song came out. While plenty of people have it much worse, this isn't exactly where I thought I would be at this point. I say I gave up and just take things one day at a time with no plan, but lost is probably a better word.

Every so often, a band comes around where their success is not only the result of record sales or concert sales, but is due to the chemistry of the members themselves. This was one of those bands. The music was Fuel because of Brett's personality/vocals that blended so well with Carl's style of writing. Carl's playing was the perfect compliment to Brett's voice. Kevin and Jeff were as solid of a rhythm section as there is...never too much...never too little...playing exactly what the song needs. As soon as they plugged in a new member, the chemistry was instantly gone. Too bad, these guys were unique.

I am 44 I believe the 80s was the last best decade in music period. A great majority of bands in this decade could sing. Ratio to 90s really dropped from 8/10 to 4/10

It's unfortunate that the vast majority of today's generation will never realize that this is what's called music. Not that manufactured bullshit that the big record companies are trying to pass of for it now over the airwaves. Today's "music" sucks ass. Whenever I turn on the radio, I always get an overwhelming urge to take a power drill to my eardrums.

I miss the days when talent was required to make music. Songs like this one will never grow old. I'm so sick of this manufactured bullshit that they have to pay the radio stations to spam the airwaves. In order to convince those naive enough to listen to it to buy as many albums as possible before they stop playing it anymore and move on to the next piece of garbage that they've managed to spit out by then. In order to repeat the process all over again.

He delivered it with such power, emotion and dominance that this masterpiece can strongly resonate with the listeners. This must be one of the anthems of our lives. We were innocent. . . Yes.
