Lyrics:
I'm only pretty sure that I can't take any more
Before you take a swing
I wonder what are we fighting for
When I say out loud
"I wanna get out of this"
I wonder is there anything
I'm gonna miss
I wonder how it's going to be
When you don't know me
How's it going to be
When you're sure I'm not there?
How's it going to be
When there's no one there to talk to?
Between you and me
'Cause I don't care
How's it going to be?
How's it going to be?
Where we used to laugh
There's a shouting match
Sharp as a thumbnail scratch
A silence I can't ignore
Like the hammock by the
Doorway we spent time in, swings empty
Don't see lightning like last fall
When it was always about to hit me
I wonder how's it going to be
When it goes down
How's it going to be
When you're not around?
How's it going to be
When you found out there was nothing
Between you and me?
'Cause I don't care
How's it going to be
How's it going to be
When you don't know me anymore?
And how's it going to be?
Wanna get myself back in again
The soft dive of oblivion
I wanna taste the salt of your skin
The soft dive of oblivion (Oblivion)
How's it going to be?
When you don't know me anymore?
How's it going to be?
How's it going to be?

With hits like “Semi-Charmed Life”, “Jumper”, “How’s It Going To Be” and more, Third Eye Blind’s fresh take on alternative rock has delighted listeners everywhere since 1993. In recent years the band’s popularity has only grown with their most recent tour-Summer Gods-breaking their previous attendance records. During this 2019 tour the band donated a portion of the revenue from each ticket sold to off-set their carbon footprint in partnership with ClimeCo.
Of their latest full album, Screamer, lead singer Stephan Jenkins said: “My current mood resonates with rebellion, energy, courage, and risk.” Adding that “I seek to combine it with a percussive level of musical immediacy in this collection of songs to cultivate collective idealism and an unapologetic aspiration towards humanistic values.”

A lot of people don't understand how these bands are still relevant, but it's because as you grow older, the meaning becomes so much deeper than you realized it was as a kid.
Indeed 😥😥

So true!!
i'm turning 51 next month. I was 25 when I first heard this song on the radio. Yeah I liked it as I liked many of the songs I heard back in the 90's. Today as a middle-aged man it has a lot more meaning to me and for some reason I start sobbing when I hear it. It's a great song and I'm glad I rediscovered it as a result of my nostalgic mood lately. My grandparents are gone and my mother passed away 5 years ago. Life is so short folks...a very short trip, although it seems an eternity when we're young. Enjoy it and make good memories 👍🙏🥰
:( stay strong gramps :(
@Yowl I don't consider this a sad song. Sometimes tears come from happiness. And don't tell me what to do 🙏😉
@@jonathanlopez2650 oh you poor thing. You made a sad face on your reply to me. Did my post make you sad? That's a rhetorical question so don't answer it. My post certainly didn't come from sadness, it was nostalgia. You can look up the definition if you don't know what that means. Bless your heart

Thats sad song but i started listen to this song when i meet my girl 4 years Ago . Always reminds me these days ❤
One of the saddest things about life. You can be so close to someone sharing your secrets and feelings then next thing you know you're complete strangers for whatever reason. Such a tragedy to the soul.
Boy, do I understand this emotion!! Been there 3 times in 5 years with females I've known for 20 - 30 plus years and to find not one of them were what I had envisioned them to be. It's heartbreaking to say the least.
Well. People are on their best behaviour for the first while. 2 years to 10 years. Depending on the person. It's easy to love someone's good side. The true beauty in life is accepting your inner monster and accepting someone else's less then desirable qualities. But this takes time. Humour. Acceptance. Experience. Even then there is no guarantee that happiness will forever live. Love. No guarantee.
You wanted a happy ending.. nope not here. Reality is here. If you trully love yourself that is real happiness.
So true
Going through the same thing with a girl I knew from my youth.
She changed so much I don't even know this selfish, careless, thoughtless, self absorbed person anymore. She just looks like someone I use to know.
It is disheartening to say the least.
You ain't kidding. I don't get how someone said it happened to them 3 times in 5 years. In my case it happened once and it won't happen again because I won't make myself that vulnerable again.
The whole album is a masterpiece
Spot on
It’s one of the best albums of the 90s. Reminds me of Gradeschool and falling in love for the first time.
The video is a masterpiece. I remember the first time I saw it, I thought it was so brilliant. The guys trying to blast their music through the secured door, the eyeball peeking around the corner, and then the best part-the instruments going out the window. Perfectly described the futility the song was describing. One of my favorite videos ever ❤❤
100%
I'd be honored if some 90s fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of NEVER LET YOU GO by Third Eye Blind and 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins in tribute to 2 of the most iconic bands of the mid/late 90s era. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Peace out & stay safe in the '020s.
Here’s to all of us who are homesick for a place that doesn’t exist anymore.
Wow
Well it's true, once time has passed it can't be retrieved except in our minds and sometimes that's no consolation...
That's gotta be the saddest thing Ive ever read!
i feel it for a long time my birth place is not the same anymore which i miss during my childhood
LOVE THIS!
Remember before the year 2000, when the future still seemed bright and full of possibilities?
The late 90s just had a different vibe. Even though life wasn’t perfect there was this blissful feeling that things would work out in the long run. 9/11 tarnished that. COVID killed it for good. I miss it every day.
@@EliasVoorheesI think OP is referring to the fact that humanity has, at MAXIMUM, a decade or two left. Probably closer to 5 years. It doesn’t matter if “life has been worse”. We’re at the end now. Start saying goodbye.

Man when I listen to song it makes me feel like I'm 19 years old all over again does anyone feel like that ...
Not necessarily. Back then it was just a little tune but today I'm sitting here like, welp, now at the age of 40 I truly understand what this song is all about; the heartache and devastation of ending a relationship with someone you truly loved and would do anything for, even though deep down you knew it was toxic. But you stuck around and toughed it out hoping things would get better, hoping things would go back to how they used to be. Hoping the person you first met would come back to themselves. Then you realize this song you heard when you were a teen, blasting on the radio as you drove around with your friends having fun, is now what you're going through in life.

My heart goes out to you. Lost my uncle to Alzheimer's a year and a half ago and now my brother has White Matter Disease. I hope you've found ways to hang in there and remember the best of times. Carrying forward who he was is the best tribute.
When the nostalgia is so intense it ACHES. *sniffles* ...guys, we're not old yet but we're not young anymore are we..?
Cherish the soft love of oblivion while you have it.
You nailed it. Well said. Whew.
This hit so hard...
Ehh I dunno seem fake
Itll be fine. At 42 i still like this music and party. Just not as hard....as it hurts more now. Ive found nothing really changes in your mind but your body cant keep up lol
@@riderj5468 Im right there with ya at 42!, and couldnt agree more. Sometimes i wish i could go through basic training again just to see if i still got it after 20 yrs, Then i wake up.🤦♂️, but i will never stop rockin! 🤘 Be well man!

This whole album is a rock masterpiece!! Find you a way to get all the songs off this album & enjoy !!!
Sometimes this is just a nice Jam song. Other times it makes me sob uncontrollably depends on my mood.
I completely understand, I was jamming along and chilling and then it reminded me of my failed almost marriage and no lie I am teary-eyed yet still listening to this masterpiece
I agree 1of the best in the west

True
I like the part where he says " wanna get myself back in again, the soft dive of oblivion, wanna taste the salt of your skin, the soft dive of oblivion, oblivion.
I like that part.
Lifes lessons are taught 4 a reason

Indispensably a fantastic rock-band in late 90s and part of my childhood. The lyric resonanting hard within the deep soul! Strong tone of agony within this song. Fasy forward to decades later...wow... theme and storytelling definitely are two solid elements which palanquined the band to be one of few bands that so far ahead of its time. They pushed the boundaries with unconventional take on rock song rather than just another love/despair theme. The gritty vocal, dynamic riffs, chord progression and drumming simply makes Third Eye Blind graces onto its own class. I remember I shut the door and just blast the CD upon coming back from highschool, semester breaks and on way to work at KFC. Those might not the best years of self-discovery but dang; those were the years. Periphery... that so important in shaping who we are now
This will forever be a masterpiece. Probably one of the best break up song ever written. 😩
I am feeling down right now and this song made my day..I hope everybody is doing good..anxiety is killer as well..
Damn, you listened to this song and it made you feel better? This song makes me sad a hell
The nostalgia, the memories of a time when, for the most part, I had it made in the shade!!!
Yes it is. Hang there. It’ll get better.
I loved this song growing up. It happened to be stuck in my head the week I knew I'd be putting my dog down, back in 2016. Still makes me sad, but I think of him every time I hear it and it's bittersweet.
An Absolute Masterpiece 👏👏👏👏
The whole album ❤❤❤❤
1997 I was 19 and I remember this song playing when my 1st boyfriend and I were fighting. My 1st love. Brings back so many memories. The 90’s were not like any other decade. It was the last great era and I’m so grateful I got to be there.
Hell Yes! Here’s to the 90s 🍻
The 70's-80's got you beat.
I had completely forgotten about this song. I was 11 yo when this song came out. 22 years later I re-discovered it and I'm in tears.
same here..I have listened to this song 56 times today...each time I get emotional...and don't know whyy..but is happy tears
This human experience is something ain't it.
@@Ralph_Sandwich indeed
Earie comment. Also 33 and heard this when I was 11 and for some unknown reason tears find there way.
@@ryaneamon8036 really? hahaha that's so cool
Listened to this song dozens of times. Throughout life. This particular music video however, I’ve searched for years, wrote descriptions in Google RUclips, the year from when I was 7/8 years old (my parents had amazing taste in music). And I’ve just randomly found it as Apple was playing up. Best feeling ever, lol…
Fulfilled.
One of the most underrated deep bands, ever.
90's had the best music!! This takes me back to highschool.. and Dawson's Creek. 💜
this song was in Dawsons creek?
I remember I'll be by Edwin Mccain from that series
I miss the good ol days when I would wait all day listening to the radio so I could try to record my favorite songs over my parents cassette tapes. Kids these days don't know what we went through for our music.
That's okay it just made it much more special to me
Chase Holstein wait all day for the radio to play Billie Jean so we could record. Now u can stream any song in seconds. We had to have patience. lol
Poor brasita, try listening to an 8 track you'd have reason to whine....
Or when the tape broke after we carefully crafted our songs together!
It always seemed like we would catch the end of a song you liked.i remember dido white flag, i use to fien for that song and always only could only catch the end of it. 😂
Being a teenager and graduating from high school in the 90 with music like this is a blessing I wish my kids could experience
Beautiful song...
never thought id like this song as a kid, as an adult it speaks volumes

Losing someone, you go through the five stages of grief.
Depression 0:32
Denial 1:43
Anger 2:21
Bargaining 2:41
and finally, acceptance 3:18

Help me. I m having a hard time reaching the last stage.
Amazing...I see it as a member of the recovering heartbreak club.
Taga Cale have you reached it yet?
@@tagacale1733 It will come. You will wake up one day and just feel better. Hope your heart is healing
That feeling of hopelessness that the one feels on the receiving end of a relationship gone bad, is the power of creation. Let that feeling flow through you as if you needed it and listen to songs like this, to strengthen your balance in creation. This isn't written anywhere, but it's what I know to be true. Eventually, you'll feel comfortable with saying, she dumped me by stomping on my feelings for her. But in retrospect, I realize, it's the best thing that could of ever happened to me.
Now, my soul is set free to fly.
I wasn't a huge fan of music in the 90's but this song did strike a chord with me. In 1997 I was happily married with two young daughters, a nice home, and a good job. Probably the happiest time of my life. Who could have known that I would literally lose it all over the next 10-15 years. My life has never been the same. This song is a sad reminder of the best period of my life.
NEVER let this awesome 90s music go quiet people. I don't think there is a single person reading this who does not feel emotion when hearing this music. For many, the nostalgia is strong you can almost surf on it.
