The 2025 Charger Daytona Scatpack - Faster Than a Redeye but WILL IT FLOP? +550hp Hurricane

- Опубликовано: 4 мар 2024
- Dodge just announced the details for their all new 2025 Charger Daytona EV and their 2025 Charger Six Pack. I give you all the details on these brand new offerings and let you know what I think. The 2025 Charger Daytona Scatpack will boast 2 electric motors making 670 all wheel drive horsepower and the RT version will make 496 (11 more than today's scatpack). The Hurricane inline six cylinder twin turbo version from the Six Pack will make 550hp in it's high output form. What do you think of the brand new charger. Will these cars be a success or a major failure?

A muscle car isn’t just speed. It’s feel, it’s rumble, it guttural. This is a Powerwheels toy from Walmart
Facts!!!!
Get with it maaaan 😁 That was the old days maaaan - now it is the silent joy of being pushed back in your seat, tears streaming backward out of your eyes as you feel your stool working it's way out of your anus due to the insane acceleration. LOL
Everybody high fiving each other as they get out from a test run, "Man did you fill your shorts also?", "Hell yah I did!"
Facts it’s like the lion being the king of the jungle….he’s not the fastest or the biggest but they all respect him
It's amazing how hard someone will try to sell u something you don't want or never asked for.
Seems that way with all the 2023 Challengers and Chargers rusting in peace on dealer lots! How is your Hemi car resale value doing? Bet it goes way down!
For those of us that can't afford to pay $60k+ for a vehicle anything that will reduce the cost of ownership will be welcome. What I'm waiting for is when someone with the 420 HP gas version is complaining that their cost of ownership is double to triple that of someone with the 670 HP electric version.

It is a French company now. I doubt it will survive much longer.

@@risby1930 Yeah the French never won any major battles, so yeah it's not gonna fly high
Who are their customers though? Sure, a lot of car enthusiasts. But most Dodge Challenger owners are just people who wanted a cool car and got the Challenger SXT. So I don't think the new Charger's going to bomb. It's a good looking car that's both available as a EV AND a ICE vehicle. I'm sure it will do just fine as long as it's priced right.

If they don’t change their mind and bring back the V8 they will end up like Pontiac
Well, they could change their minds, continue to spends hundreds of millions a year on epa credits, and then be forced to change back once the deadline comes
Didn't Pontiac had the G8? Serious question what happened, they seemed like decent fun cars?
@@jointhefist1016or could tell the epa and government agencies to go pound sand. Because the tesla is piece of shit with nothing in it.
They didn't crack a code, they just sold people less for more and called it "spartan" then bragged about their margins...
A lot of people fail to realize how expensive tires will be on this car. 305F/325R tires are not small by any means, then add AWD, plus calculating in the weight of this car (estimated over 5,800lbs) is going to put a dent in a lot of wallets. Being staggared, you won't be able to rotate tires and just the shear weight of the car will eat them alive. Plus, plan on paying more in taxes (depending on your state) due the weight of this vehicle. To put it in perspective, a 2023 Widebody Hellcat Charger is 4,586lbs....
I currently own a Challenger and I’m not able to purchase any EV because I live in a condo and the HOA has not provisions for an electric car charging station. Besides that, I don’t want an EV. Not everyone needs Hellcat power. Why not keep at least the 5.7 and sup it up some for enthusiasts and do the turbos and EV to go after track times? I'm not even in the market for one of these cars. I have a Silverado LTZ. Long story short, they are having to put a new motor in it. Has the 6.2 and they are backordered for months. What don’t people understand. The regulations and the amount of money they were paying for credits is unsustainable. Blame regulators not Dodge.
You got that right. People need to educate themselves on why this is happening.
Cow tows! Doesn't Ford have the same regulators. There not cow towin to regulations.
They have made billions quarterly and at the same time raised the pricing on Challenger/Chargers....the 10k line per v8 has already been assessed on the consumer......people still paid for what they wanted. This is the end of Dodge.
They have one car that they were barely selling before the new model, all their trucks are turbos or EV, and they have the Mach E, so yes, they can keep one V8. Dodge sells far fewer vehicles then Ford does. If you don't like it, go tell your congressman, because they just ramped up the MPG requirements again. 49mpg fleet average by 2024. My scat pack was getting 11mpg or worse most of the time. Great car, not sustainable for Dodge. If they didn't try to change, they would be gone anyway.

I have bought a lot od chrysler products over the years. I currently have 3 chargers (66-09), 19 redeye challenger, 06 Ram 3500, 07 pacifica, and 23 jeep grand cherokee. 4 are Hemis. 1 gen 2 and 3 gen 3s. Some are my wifes but i bought them all.
I will concede that these cars will be quick. Electric motors have infinite torque at zero rpm. But that curve drops fast. So qtr mile or zero to 60 these will be quick. But when you use that it will burn the juice ( or coal - since that is how most of the juice is created). These wont have much range on a charge. Hope i am wrong. I need chrysler to stay in buisiness so i can buy parts. Lol.
But the reason i wont ever be buying a new chrysler product isn't about the EVs it is about how my dealer decided to to work me over on my attemp to buy a last call car. After i gave up on him the rest of the dealers were even worse. So you didnt see a last call car on that list. That said my dailey driver is a 96 buick. My next car will probably be a vet. I will never buy an ev. This move to electric isnt about anything but changing how amaercans identify.

Im not the least bit interested in the electric version but fairly curious about the gas one. Im not crazy about having all wheel drive. Just a rear wheel drive four door with a strong six cylinder would suit my needs.
So the difference between the RT and the scat pack is the stage kit basically when it comes down to to it…?
Thank you Dodge, but I'll stick with my gasoline muscle 💪🏾.
I'll believe that it's faster than a Hellcat when I see it in action. The damn thing weighs close to 6000 lbs and has a top speed of 134 mph. Power to weight ratio is a thing. a 3.3 second 0-60 is impressive but that seems like it's all it has going for it. At this point, it seems like the 6-pack is going to put out better performance than the EV.
You couldn’t pay me to sell my soul to EVs for the prospect of beating a few people on the road before the battery dies. IF they’re under $75K, I’d take a gander at a 4-Door Six Pack HO, as a grand tourer, and providing it’s somewhat tunable. Give the people what they want, Stellantis!
The need a small gas turbine driving a generator which powers the electric drive motors.
Anybody know what the total vehicle weight will be on the six-pack models?
Nope, but much less weight than the EV versions.
The faster than a redeye claim needs to have a giant asterisks next to it until they prove it. My take is that they mean on an unprepped surface because a stock redeye with traction is an animal and runs 10s in the 1/4 (10.937@130.2 for a bone stock car on stock tire)
Not faster.. it will accelerate faster then It does. 11.5 in the quarter mile with a top speed of 138. Specs for the cars are out on Dodge
@@williamrose7818 those numbers are as slow as the Durango and no where near the redeye unless we use car and driver/motortrend results. 🤔
I'd say for the ev's case ,it's slow, but the I6 will be another story. Considering there will be a big weight difference between the ev and gas, car may weight as much as the 5.7L charger while weighting less than hellcats, because keep in mind, the V6 awd charger in itself weights atleast 4200lbs at best, and the I6 weights about 100lbs more almost than the V6 bit weights less than all of dodges V8s so it could sit within the 42-4300lb range at best. That practically means that the Sixpack are very capable of pulling low 11s similarly to the G80 m3s(despite the weight differences, they still come with more power from factory tho).
What's the range for this elec. musclecar? How long does it take to recharge?
The only thing faster than this thing off the line will be the depreciation and the demise of the brand. Maybe Fisker can bail them out?
I love how that new charger looks so much more like the general Lee style charger and it's a two door just like the original

This is so sad to see where Dodge is going..
Dodge didn't learn anything from Ford with there Mach E
A lot to unpack here first the ev rt 0-60 4.7 will be getting dragged by the current 392’s, also the ev scat 1/4 mile 11.5 just a little better than a 1320. Nobody’s talking about there nearly 6k lbs crub weight. Power to weight lives yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Thanks for the video! From what I understand the 550hp Six Pack is only right at 180 cubic inches...so don't be surprised if it does not respond well or can't take the pressure of upping the turbo boost unless it has some serious bottom-end beefing up. 550hp out of 180 cubes is really pushing it...But I am also interested to see how it compares to a regular Cat in the quarter mile....The car looks like a 1967 Barracuda Fastback from dead-on straight behind and a 1968 Charger from side-behind...very good looking car! And Glory Be to Dodge for bring back the Six Pack moniker!!
Great looking car, somebody already mentioned it needs the door scallops and if they are not going to offer a V8 like the Mustang they are missing a great opportunity.
Thanks for the review. It will be interesting. If I were to drive an EV this would be on my short list. I like that Dodge is trying hard to appeal to the performance crowd. Lets see how it plays out. The two door Charger is pretty cool but the front seems 'bland?'...which is unDodgery. Most Dodge's have very identifiable fronts (I drive a Durango). Thanks again for the imagery as well!
Putting that bumble bee on an electric car is ludicrous. They should be forced to put an electric eel on it.
Or just put a dinosaur on it. That's what Dodge will be in a few years.
Notice Dodge didn't suggest a price. There's an old saying. If you have to ask, you can't afford it. The R/T will start at about $80K and go up from there. Initially, the EV Charger won't sell. Tesla has the market cornered on EVs. Since EVs are all Tesla builds, the cars will be built well and give customers better value for the money spent. Profit margin will be the key when it comes to the Charger. Look for inflated prices that excludes most people. The target for Stellantis will be people that want status and performance and really don't care about price.
Thank you for the content and information about these vehicles
Will be interesting who will be purchasing these vehicles. Most V8 enthusiasts who have supported Dodge will probably be out of the marketing equation
EVs should be offered as an alternative not as a replacement for ICEs.
demand for them is falling off. imo dodge is taking a serious risk.
They're literally offering you the option in the same car...
I'm not interested in the electric blenders, but i am going to see if i can order the new Scatpack fender badges for my 2019. Love thenew bee logo design.
So no manual transmission option for the hurricane?
This came out on my birthday today cool
You can make a dog sound like a goat, but it’s still a dog. Part of owning a muscle car is the ability to work on it, the ability to buy aftermarket parts to make it go faster. This vehicle will also take away skills, meaning as a young man. Buying my first hot rod means I would have to work on it and learn how to work on it. Once you know, tools, and how a system works it relates to other skills that might relate to what you learned by working on a car. What is plugging in a car teaching?
Also, my fear of everything being electrical is the government will have more power to shut down your vehicle when they don’t want you driving it. You might think that sounds silly, but does it really?
very depressing reading this coment, you're 1000% correct though.
Im pretty happy about the 550 HP six pack with AWD. People are too hung up on there V8 sound. I'm happy there is an ice version and it won't be that big of deal when you can launch and put that power down with AWD. This will be faster than a dark horse from light to light. I'd rather excelerate fast than sound fast and go slow. Most people i know are excited about it except for some of these channels were people just want to complain. They made the hemi for 20 years and i have 4 of them but I'm ready for something new. You can have both.
Hellcats n scats arent slow tho
@@mucleboy0151 I know I own them but it's hard to get 1000+ HP down from a street light vs AWD. I run MT radials but have been walked by an AWD GTR that had about 650 HP. They can get to far ahead from a dig. From a roll I could beat him but I'm excited about an ice version that has AWD. Maybe they will come out with a new more efficient V8 in the future but for now I'm still happy about the I6 with 550hp for now. Way better than EV only.
@@michaelwaiwood5629 i do too but u gotta be talkin drag because no way in hell u need or can use 1000 om da street as long as i can beat 99 percent on da street is plenty good enough for me but thats jus me with them making these awd gonna change the whole game up
The Corvette eray hybrid goes fast and sounds loud plus no gas guzzler tax.
'People are too hung up on there V8 sound' enjoy sounding like a honda civic. The 'Hurricane' I6 doesn't even sound good for an I6. BMW I6s sound amazing. The Hurricane sounds like shit. And it might be faster than a RWD car light to light but it'll get destroyed by the AWD V8s still being made by BMW, Benz and Audi...
No V8, no thank you.
The i6 is a better design. 1000 plus hp capable. Direct Connection’s Cat X i6 is targeting 1500
The other videos I've watched show the powershot button provides an extra 40hp for 30 seconds.
From what I saw in the release video from Dodge is the Daytona Scatpack stage 2 has a 335hp motor in the front and another in the rear to make 670hp.
So here is my take on this ...
without using the powershot button, does this mean you're driving around in Awd mode with 630hp and in Rwd mode with only 315hp for the Scatpack stage 2 with a max range in Rwd of 268 miles ÷2 = 134 miles in Awd mode?
• here's the numbers for the standard RT stage zero: 335hp -40hp powershot = 295hp, Awd ÷2=147.5hp in Rwd with 315mi range and 157.5mi range in Awd.
• The RT stage 1: 496hp -40hp powershot = 456hp ÷2=228hp in Rwd mode.
How much does this Battery Electric Vehicle weigh? 6,000lbs? With less than 150hp in Rwd mode, the RT stage zero may not be very exciting during those 315 miles of driving. The RT stage 2 would be a little better.
...
The lighter weight Daytona SixPack with the hybrid Hurricane i6 with 420hp or the Hurricane i6 High Output 550hp will be the cars to wait for, Imo. The hybrid system may be like the eTorque in the Ram 1500.
What's the miles between charges how long does it hold up in winter conditions
317 miles on the RT and 260ish on the Scat Pack.
Can we drop some links to the new videos in the details for this one?
Tim K: It is gonna outaccelerate a Hellcat Redeye.
Me: It makes no real sound so it will never compare to a Redeye. NO THANKS! 😒
