- Zonda. Huayra. A succinct but epic bloodline for the next Pagani hypercar to follow.
And there’s much promise too, for the new Utopia: a twin-turbo, AMG-supplied V12 with 846bhp; a carbo-titanium monocoque; even the option of a manual gearbox…
Only 99 will be built, each costing around £2.2m a pop.
But is it a piece of automotive art, too delectable to be driven? Top Gear Magazine’s Head of Car Testing, Ollie Marriage, finds out…

Utopia is the Best !
zonda
Zonda.
Zonda then the Utopia
this feels like a Retro-Futurism aesthetic that 50's - 70's people thinks what would the future would look like. A car from a lost future
Exactly how I saw it too when it was unveiled, it's exactly a futuristic vehicle that was imagined in the 50s
@@GGMattt your bang on my first thought was like that wouldn't look out of place in a fallout game
Exactly what I thought
poetic asf
I couldn't have described it better
THIS is how you do a hypercar. Exquisite.
I wouldn't classify this as a hypercar. Hypercars in my mind are all about performance, and as a result they are quite uncomfortable and dismal, say, around town. This is simply in a league of its own! SO SO special!
@@abalakrishnan4152yes… because 370km/h top speed is not fast enough… BTW performances is not the only criteria to classify hypercars
@@abalakrishnan4152 So the Chiron is not a hypercar by your standards then?
I think he meant track car, not hypercar
@@PerplexedPhoton Eh, sort of. It is also somewhat of an art piece. When I think of hypercars I think like track monsters like the Bugatti Bolide, the McLaren P1 or Senna, or LaFerrari
Not that I could ever in my wildest imagination afford one or fit in one for that matter, but, this car is incredible. It’s nice to see a super car that isn’t completely electronic and computerised. Something about a clutch and a manual transmission with actual dials and buttons is a thing of beauty

This guy is such a good reviewer, he is holding it down at Top Gear for sure
I absolutely dislike the RUclips Comment Trend on Top Gear Videos where everyone keeps posting the same Stuff

Of course we all miss the different Style and Humor unique to the others, but Top Gear is still a great Car Review Channel with great Presenters.

Been to the factory and toured the production process, it’s got cobble floor and brick walls with trees etc to mimic outdoors…it’s so quiet and peaceful, everything you see looks beautiful. Workers are encouraged to take the day off if they’re stressed with personal issues. Horacio is a genius, what he and his immensely skilled team create is so inspiring.
Can anyone go for a tour?
@@bryancheron6902Absolutely. What’s better, is after you tour the Pagani factory you can visit Ferrari and Lamborghini all in a stones throw of each other…they all have factory tours and museums with their most prestigious cars, then next door to Ferrari museum book yourself a 40 minute drive in an F12 Berlinetta…they let you properly floor it too…they encourage it. Time your visit when Ferraris ‘Finali Mondiali’ event is on and go to Mugello race circuit to watch the challenge series, XX program and F1 Clienti races.
Bologna is motorsport Mecca.
@@bryancheron6902 Yes, anyone can. You have to buy tickets ahead of time, but I thought it was well worth it. It was the only place I'll ever actually get to see a Pagani in person. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy.
When he pressed start, I love how the gauges tick backwards then forward!
"it's not about driving performance but the performance of driving" PERFECTLY said and the reason i love pagani
The Pagani Utopia looks like a love child of the Zonda and Huayra. At first I wasn't sure I liked its design but over time it has grown on me and now I think it's pretty good. Also it has a manual gearbox!
It’s still not as good looking as the Huayra or the Zonda F. The cabin itself is a step back from the Huayra’s cabin. Outside the Huayra looked like a fighter jet. This with its organic bits and too many details ruins it for me. The Huayra’s side view mirrors were so beautiful.
I thought the exact same. At first I hated it, but the more I have seen of this car, the more I think it is possibly the best looking car made since maybe the 458. It has so much history in the design. Love it
Well said
i originally didnt like the huayra compared to the zonda, but over time it grew on me and even surpassed it. i feel the same disappointment with the utopia, so time will tell.
SINCE 1999 PAGANI NICE CHANGED DESIGNS NAH BRO
I mean, you can put that in a gallery! Unbelievable, I’m truly stunned🤩🤩🤩
lamborghini countach levels of "poster on the wall as a kid"
@@Passon4Pastry For sure. And that interior… Take away my bed, I’ll gladly sleep in the comfort of all that leather, and titanium, and carbon😌
I am so happy to have been alive when pagani was building cars
I was in Singapore one time just before the gran Prix and got to see a zonda r and sneak a touch in
I didn’t think I would see one let alone touch one and photograph it 😍😍😍
Hopefully I may get there again this year and see one of these
Pagani did such a good job on this car.
The evolution from the huraya to this is car art at its best.
The angle from the back over the exhaust and you see the rainwater stays on the engine cover and not floating away gives me butterflies in my belly.
The effort and details makes it, from my point of view, the most beautyful car design a.t.m. on road.
And i hope for a ling time.
Like bugatti in the old times...
I was never going to drive a car that costs almost two million dollars in such atmospheric conditions and besides that is not mine, these guys are really brave.
Possibly true however its not $2M or even close, all 7 being sent to the USA are already sold through their USA dealer prestige imports in Miami (was there on sat to see this work of art) all in when delivered will be a bit north of $6M, all were presold by invitation only almost two years ago
Insurance but I still get your point
Tthis show exist more than 20 years so that have lots of money no problem for them.
It's the development car with nearly 50,000km on it, it's been through worse.
I'm glad you don't own it
It is a work of art that also just happens to be a car. That cabin is to die for and I suspect that we'll never see that level of "mechanical" and tactile equipment in a car again. These days it's all screens, touch-pads and haptic feedback -- so clinical 😞
Man honestly and they’re already seem so outdated compared to a car like this!

@@JaSon-wc4pn well that’s where you wrong my friend. That’s a very vague statement, because there’s different types of art. And this one is art on wheels, which has a purpose, to get you from point A to B
Very cool to see it actually get out there, and show its full character. I was quite puzzled with it at launch, but also had a feeling Pagani were better designers than me, and thus, that it would grow on me, and take time to fully understand and appreciate. And it has, since then. Now even more, when it's being driven - the final part of the puzzle, you could say. Congratulations Pagani. 3 cars and 3 paradigm defining achievements, each in their own right, and each being decisively different from each other. Kudos.

From the thumbnail, this epitome of beauty and class stole my heart.❤❤
They might not be THE fastest or THE sharpest but they have something no other supercar manufacturers have... true artistry!
I *desire* a Pagani like no other!
The gentleman's Lamborghini
Indeed, and I feel like once were in 650hp per tonne territory , how fast it is is almost irrelevant. I love the fact they don't release 0-62 times.
Only other cars I would group with this are the DeTomaso P90 and the Zenvo Aurora Tur in terms of their interior/exterior beauty and performance.
It doesnt have to be. It looks brilliant, sounds massive and are plenty fast. Its not really their goal to be fastest on the Nurburgring
@YahuasSon... Massive respect to the engineering in the CCX850. The gearbox alone is worthy of praise. Great car!
But it doesn't tug at my heart strings!
The design is just perfectly balanced. You have modern and classic and Pagani went right in the middle. You've got feminine lines or masculine lines and Pagani went right in the middle. It's got plenty of details yet it isnt chaotic. And it's lightweight and powerful. Beautifully done.
The light blue lighting on the dashboard is just magical!
I love the tactility of the interior features. Modern cars all have these mirror black touch buttons, but there is something special about the feedback and satisfaction of real buttons.
The curves of the cabin from the outside remind of a kind of 60's Le Mans style.
Yeah that’s my favorite bit. I get aviation vibes
Reminds of women I see at the brothel
This car literally is art in motion and will forever be timeless. Thank you Top Gear and thank you Pagani for making this MASTERPIECE! This car brings the art show every time it is road. BTW this guy has balls of steel to be giving this car the beans in this kind of weather. Color me impressed.
He is a crazy good driver. Shame about the Car though.
First thing TG: I could watch out Videos hours and hours...its like Documentary of Art...love it and well done!!
I wasn't sure on release, but now it's bedded in and in that colour in that lighting, It looks nuts, just amazing. Then add that lush interior, the switchgear, the manual gear box and no pathetic glare in your eyeline touchscreen (although it loses points for that lcd panel). Well, just magic.
This thing has grown on me visually, it looks wild. Also I like this guy on Top Gear, he's quality

The rainy weather makes it incredible to watch!
Nothin else to expect from an Argentinean like Horacio. Fell in love with this car.
That gear stick is a thing of beauty. Tbh the entire car is

Its not a car - its Art. Absolute state of Art. Perfect.
This and the T50
The way all the car blends together is amazing. The reviewer nailed it, its like looking into a mechanical watch, like a Grand Seiko Tourbillion.
I wonder if Hammond is getting a go. Would love to see him review this.
Haven't gotten lucky with the weather, looks amazing.
Italy looks the most beautiful in a wet, rainy autumn day. The "Italy" English and Americans keep talking about is basically Sicily, Sardinia and Campania.
the obvious reminiscence of classic racing cars is just brilliant
Is like a "Patek Philippe" of the cars. Is the right way to do something that will stick over time.
“Ooh some wheel spin” is a terrifying thing to say that giddy
The open transmission mechanism reminds me of the Spyker C8, another car that was an art piece of design 😊
Good reviewer!! Amazing energy and enthusiasm considering the weather. Car is unreal!
When I was a young lad, my favorite car was the Zonda S, then in my teens, the Huayra BC, and now, as an adult, the Utopia... Horacio has genuinely demonstrated his understanding of art on wheels
Pagani are truly artists. That entire car is just stunning!
I didn’t like it at first, I now think this is one of the prettiest car on the road alongside the Roma. Spectacular.
I agree. I seen it and thought it looked a bit heavy (kind of hard to describe) but it gets better the more you look.
Agreed, specced right this car is a serious work of art, it’s really grown on me since they revealed it
Difference is people out there can actually own a Roma and not be a Head of State or some megacorp equivalent Crypto firm boss.
Thanks for doing this car justice with your review. I have seen a different review, but your excitement really celebrates it for what it is!
At first i wasn't sure about the looks but now i love it
Those "Rearview Mirrors" is what I wanted to see this time. Rear air scoops is my 2nd favorite part.
It looks funky but also very bold and unique. The press pictures (as is a trend nowadays) made it look awkward, but in video it looks quite cool.
I do not think the chalk launch colour helps. But I agree with you.
@@francoisg3500I tend to agree with you, the exposed carbon one was a lot better.
I really love the backlights, among other things ofc, and how their design is inspired on jet engines and their movements. I mean, every tiny component of this beautiful car has its story and being aware of it makes every part even more intriguing!
Zonda or bust. I do like the manual transmission on this. The Zonda was by far their most beautiful model.
Finally, some properly stylish filming and wonderful scenic reporting again after so many rather mediocre episodes... THIS is Top Gear and some proper Top Gear car... Cheers and keep up THIS level of quality...!
i dont want to take away form all the comments in the video, but its a Pagani, some things are impossible to describe however the "No and Yes" is the best and most accurate comment. That is why every Pagani is amazing. Its that AMG based v12 heart, my favorite engine and it is true to how it differentiates the car and the driving experience. Pagani takes all the design characteristics to perfection, he is a master of user experience, design and the combination of the two. It is for this reason that this car becomes artwork. We have a dealer near us in Greenwich CT. I have been lucky to meet Horatio once while he visited Miller Motorcars. He is a very calm and cool guy and his background is amazing. For me his innovation around Carbon fiber will always be in my top 5 of all automotive accomplishments.
It has a "Roaring 20s but futuristic" look to it. I love it
0:34 Watched that part way too many times. Stunning!
that background soundtrack is quite dystopian!
Italians make the world’s most beautiful and soul stirring automotive designs. So much elegance and passion. The flip side is the old adage is that their cars are as “fragile as spring ice”. Unreliable when compared to German Porsche counterparts. The UTOPIA is my dream car.
I love the fact that this car looks like it could’ve been designed in the 1930’s or 100 years in the future. Just a stunning car
Well said!
the zonda still looks better than all other paganis
And sounds better
A v12 is worthless without rpm
This. The original, pure, C12 with the split rear wing is the peak. They got silly towards the end and were mostly just so rich people could brag about their 1 of 1 and Mr Pagani could make a few million selling them more carbon fibre

The Lexus LFA hypercar took 10 years to build and it became a masterpiece, complete with a V10 soul that sings like an angel. Cue Pagani Zonda building only their 3rd model since the turn of the millenium, complete with a manual, 80s Ferrari-like H-gate gearbox, infused with the trademark AMG V12 heartbeat that sounds so good, it could wake up the dead. There are still unicorns and Utopia does exist, after all.
Italians🇮🇹 and hypercars... it's something like Renaissance, a work of art. Ettore Bugatti was Italian, Enzo Ferrari, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Horatio Pagani has Italian heritage... Simply Wow!!! Same talking about motorbikes.
imagine how we feel now that europe want to kill this industry, a thing that we are good at it, letting the asians take the car market exactly like they did with smartphones, it' s like an invasion, and the EU is killing us from the inside

Pagani has always been my favorite. Understand that I am a purist and I feel opulent luxury is not the place for a performance car. With Pagani they follow that flow but if it has a place in or on the car it shall be the most beautiful thing. Take the shifter, most would hide the thing in a center console only to see the stick and gate. Pangani says " sculpt the entire thing and build the interior around it " ....just an awesome car company.
On the top of The wing mirror brackets there is a circular metal bracket with 4 screws, making it look like the exhaust
I think it's absolutely stunning. Making such intricate details all hang together as a cohesive whole is an incredible feat. An instant classic.
Some beautiful shots in this video.
So so beautiful. The craftmanship behind
I didn't believe it was possible to create a dull review of a Pagani. Kudos, you proved me wrong.

"Believe it or not, this is Italy, we hjust haven't gotten lucky with the Weather today" Most British Comment ever, because the Northern Half of Italy is literally like the Weather we got here in the German Bavarian Alps haha. A lot of People think of Italy and think of nice sunny Weather but that couldn't be further from the Truth!
That said, i still don't know what to think of t he Pagani Utopia, it looks soooo much like a Huayra, but i guess that's because i experienced the Release of the Zonda and then the Release of the Huayra and they were so different.
Either way Pagani is amazing and i hope they will keep going and still keep sourcing their V12s from Mercedes-Benz AMG because it's the perfect Fit for that Car!
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
You need to do a side-by-side comparison of the Utopia and the Huayra. They are not alike at all. Biggest distinction is the air intakes at the bottom of the front of the Utopia, The Huayra is much more simplistic in design, less busy, more flat panels/blank space. The bubble shape of the cockpit in the Utopia is another big standout from the Huayra. The idea was still there on the Huarya, but the bobble is much more emphasized on the Utopia, although you might have to look at it in a 3 dimensional way to notice the changes. The headlights are also massively different in the Utopia. I also much prefer the font in the dials in the Utopia, and the wheels are a significant upgrade, imo. Huarya wheels may have been made out of nice materials, but always looked like well made generic aftermarket cheapo wheels/wheel covers to me.
@chartreux1532 Italy looks the most beautiful in a wet, rainy autumn day. The "Italy" English and Americans keep talking about is basically Sicily, Sardinia and Campania.
Except from Tuscany, Liguria and Lazio (that are below the Appeninne range) yes. Even some High Altitude places in Southern Italy (Northern Calabria, Southern Basilicata) are wet and cold, and very snowy in winter.
Being Bavarian you should prefer an Audi or BMW engine on the Pagani instead of a Mercedes one 😂. Just Kidding.
@@viniciusmagnoni6492 has Audi ever even made a V12? The R8 only ever went up to a V10, and the S8 has only ever had a V8, right?
8:57 what an unreal transition
YES, YES, YES for PoV shots. Perfect camera angle
the car reminds of "bioshock"-esque retro mechanical technology and beauty, especially with that hauntingly beautiful gearbox. Exquisite with a unique identity.
The Monteverdi, with its blend of Swiss precision and Italian elegance, stands as a testament to the enduring allure of classic craftsmanship. Unlike the Pagani Utopia, which seems to cater to the flashy tastes of the nouveau riche, a Monteverdi exudes the kind of understated luxury that is synonymous with old wealth. It’s a vehicle that doesn’t need to boast about its capabilities or price tag; its poise and grace are enough to convey its storied heritage and the refined taste of its owner.
The biggest thing that Pagani has over the other super cars is. The artwork inside and out. Ever since the Zonda I've been in ❤
When they did the overhead view I got flashbacks of that one sports car you wanted to steal in GTA 2.
It looks 10 times better than a T50, but then it is Italian!
Each to their own but i find the T50 infinitely more desirable. Pagani too fussy and blingy for me - interior and exterior.

Designing a car to two-tone with a blacked-out roof and then painting the press car all one colour... was an interesting choice. I'm not sold on how the front looks either. But I'm sure they'll sell a few. Pagani values only seem to go up, never down.
Yeah I feel like it has areas that have been 'over-designed'. I do love the shape and the especially the rear, but it doesn't really feel like an evolution beyond the Huayra. It looks more like Pagani still not getting over the Zonda.
@@salz_ Yeah, the area between the front and rear number plates. The interior in particular is pretty chintzy. If I didn't know otherwise, I'd assume it was some kind of special edition Huayra.
When a car makes a Ferrari or a Porsche GTR looks like a boring production line car, you know that car is pretty special. Incredible thing. A weird work of art lost in time and space, pure beauty, decadent. Phenomenal.
Some of the best cinematography Top Gear has ever done. Beautiful car, beautiful scenes.
Working piece of art❤️🔥
Sublime. And yet, I'd still prefer a Zonda (in "R" specification, or maybe the Tricolore... Or any one of the 6,981 limited edition models mfg towards the "end" of the run)
I prefer the Old School, C12S 7.3 V12s.
Paganis and Spijkers, there is just something about them. Of course they're cars, but so beautifully made and designed that I would call them automotive art. Just georgeous creations.
Drool drool drool. I'll never know anyone wealthy enough to even test drive one. But they are extremely lovely. The exposed manual is really special. I'm so glad they still fit it with a manual. Horacio keeping it the way it should be. Bravo sir.
Work of art
Zonda is my favorite though❤❤❤
MY FAVOURITE 😊 🤩 PAGANI EVER ....!!! INFACT ONE OF THE MOST AUTHENTIC CAR ...I HAVE EVER SEEN !
A lot of people don't understand the ethos that the Pagani Utopia is supposed to evoke. It's a completely different design philosophy when compared to the Huayra. The Huayra is inspired by aviation and even the name refers to a wind that flows through Italy. The Utopia on the other hand is meant to harken back to race cars of old. There's nothing else quite like it and so the Utopia is both a hypercar and a work of art.
Can't believe how happy it makes me to see a manual in a new car!
Also this entire car is oozing vintage vibes and I love it!
Mechanical perfection as usual.
But I can't be the only one to think that face is not attractive compared to the Huayra or Zonda?
Yes it’s clumsy and ugly. But with nice details
@@gaycha6589it is VERY ugly.
The order ones look better but it is beautiful nonetheless.
I think it looks better than the Huayra, but not as good as the Zonda.
