I am so looking forward to an affordable sporty electric convertible in North America. It seems like a near perfect business case - a car where you can actually enjoy the sound and feel of the outdoors. Lots of torque, and I don't care at all about range. I can't see ever driving mine more than 300km - 400km in a day. Bring em on !
A genuinely good looking car. As it isn't intended to compete with a Miata, the larger footprint is welcome. Full disclosure - I owned an NC Miata and at 6 feet tall, I was pretty much at the limit of the cockpit space available (not to mention a miniscule trunk). Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't change a thing about the Miata. As far as "engine noise", that's only attractive if (1) the exhaust has a nice note and (2) you are rowing your own gears. EV's are de facto, "automatics". Now let's see if we get one in the States. P.S. An electric Boxster will be close to twice the price!
Pretty enough and better suited to the wider roads of Europe and the US. I also suggest that this car offers 'sporting', rather than sports performance. A clutch, engine, and manual 'box simply affords a more immersive and rewarding drive. More demanding perhaps, but therein lies the greater satisfaction. If I kept an MG Roadster for 5 years, I'm sure I'd start fretting over the remaining battery performance, having already tried to reduce the weight by junking the seats !
The car is beautiful. But the thing(s) that liked the most was the script, the cinematography, the editing and color grade and the way all the locations flowed, gracefully narrated by Tom. Excellent team work.
Bring it to the US!!! I bought my first car, a 67' MGB, when I was 11 years old. British racing green project car and it would be such a cool full circle moment to see this in the states.

I think this looks fantastic. I see a bit ofFerrari California from the front. The fact it drives so well is a real achievement for an electric car and look forward to being able to test drive one in the uk.

@@xiaozh5063 Such a weird choice o_O
Agreed, I can't unsee them
I'm sure there will be 'after market 'variants' probably by the Chinese lol
I’d have that in a minute. Touring the highlands with the roof down on the twisty roads - yes please.
The tariff is 100% so it will be very expensive in the U.S.
MG is chinese now, sorry, US cant have these
Tom is a great presenter. I remember watching him back in the Fifth Gear days!
I got an MG4 Trophy recently and it’s bloody brilliant. Really fun to drive, plenty fast and practical for the family. For £24k new, it’s an absolute bargain! Once you get an EV you won’t look back. Remember when everyone loved their Nokia and didn’t like the idea of a smart phone because it was new and not quite ready yet, until a few years later and now we all have smartphones? Yeah like that
I have one for work. It's cheap and the finish and materials are also cheap and poorly made.
The drive is ok. Especially for the money. Would I get one? Maybe if it was simply to be used and abused

My wife and I test drove the car during the recent Bangkok Motorshow but it was only in a large parking lot driving around cones and such. All we could really observe was the quality appears quite good. In the specs for China a function like "summon" is listed which pulls the car out of a parking space with the remote. But our rep in Thailand said they will not offer that feature in Thailand. Didn't say why. Defining an engine „soul“ by its sound is antiquated. Drive a powerful EV and you will rather FEEL the soul.
