What a lot of people don’t realize and Dodge won’t ever advertise this, but talking to a bunch of different engineers. I owned a 2012 RT and the first owner put an Edlebrock passive blower on it. No work to internals. Only set up for 6 lbs. boost so as to not blow the engine and it was awesome. We estimated 550 hp. And it was fast. Never had any problems. Should’ve kept it.

98 LS1 - Vortec V3 SI - 9lbs - A4 trans - 60 lb hr injectors - heavy valve springs - stock motor top & bottom. Stock exhaust except borla cat back. This was in a C5 corvette. The numbers through a 4 speed auto w/stock TC & 3.42 gear set. 472 HP - 445 TQ. I would imagine similar numbers although TQ might be higher with pos displacement blower. To me this makes a lot of sense.
More HP also in the Hemi even from stock. Eagle Hemi makes 30HP extra and 60LB- extra than a LS1. Hemi- 5.7L 376HP/410 torque vs LS1- 345HP/350 torque. Supercharged 5.7 should make around 510+ RWHP.
@@Carlos._5.7 - very possible - I’d boost one in a heart beat. I would also consider a centrifugal. At the time I did mine, the efficiency was better with centrifugal thana positive displacement blower. Plus TQ comes on more gradually and closely matched power output curve of a NA motor. I viewed this as a positive as over powering the tires doesn’t do you any favors.
Thanks for the guess we will know soon. I really hope to be in the 500ish area I would be pretty happy then I'll mod it some more. Ultimately my goal is to be north of 600.
@@MaximumEffortRT - the 98 LS1 was rated at 345 hp. If the RT is above that think it’s safe to add the difference to what the LS made as your ball park guess.
I so want to get some Eagle heads, a Hellcat blower, and put them on the 5.7 in my regular cab 2005 Daytona edition RAM 1500 truck. I just put a new rebuild engine in it back in April of 2023. It's fully broke-in now, and I would love to modify it.
Boosted 5.7's are well worth the initial money saved if your on a budget. Never bored with my bought new 2010, P1sc equipped in 2014, 3.92 rear end, RT 6spd, Chally, with only 34k, Thats been a sunny day fun car only. Procharger allows insanely good economy with a manual and suits a manual car, as you control the revs, and it behaves kind of like a VTEC K-20, which I enjoy with the manual. Magnuson?Arrington roots units work incredibly well with autos, granted you drink more fuel, for great low/mid muscle. I've ridden in those.
A 12.6 clearly isn't the best it will do. It takes time at the track to get a car dialed in, even an automatic. He will have that car in the 11's with a few more passes.

Like the built I would just beef up the internals and lower half and get a stronger drive shaft . Outside of that I like it I remember watching boosted lucky and he had the ripp supercharger kit on a 3.6L pushing 550 horsepower and his driveshaft snapped and the car caught on fire
Those little 3-6s feel like an older v8 when youre riding in one. They honestly sound good for a 6 too. I bet they wake up nicely with a little boost. (as ~550hp would indicate)
Magnuson with 6 pounds is supposed to make 470-500 at the tire on a stock 5.7. They guarantee your engine is safe at 6 pounds of boost. Hearing him say 10 pounds makes me wonder if he will have problems along the way. Definitely where I want my car is in the 500 zone.

people really sleep on those r/t's. you can get used hellcat blowers for under 2k, adapter plates + injectors and other small stuff + labor = 4-5k i guess stock r/t block with a hellcat blower makes around 450-480 to the wheel. anything higher then that would shorten the lifespan on stock internals imo.
I did it to mine about 3 years ago I blew the original engine with 60k miles bought a new one and fully built it I bought most of the parts from mmx as well car runs great tuned on HP tuners also used an electronic boost controller and I to used one map sensor
Lack of forged internals with higher boost from the under drive pulley especially but mostly due to thw fact that the rings really need to be gapped to allow for expansion under boost. The ring expanded and broke the piston in half and the rod whipped around and knocked holes in the block and sent pieces through the oil pan and pan baffle. The piston half was sitting sideways winking at me when we pulled the heads for examination.
Pretty dope. Though I would advise that he get a cam and e85. It needs to rev higher as the stock RT cam holds it back massively. His car is performing the same as my RT with E85, a 392 cam, 392 intake, and a 3.09 diff. I do plan on doing a Hellcat blower myself. Should be fun!
I procharged my 5.7 chrysler 300s with 20x11 rear wheels on 315 radials and scat pack 3.09 differential and fule system upgrades and it's pushing 580 to the wheel and uta slaaps

Nice job Chris! Super Clean Supercharged 5.7 you have there!! Very nice 👍
I owned a 2012 RT and the first owner put an Edlebrock passive blower on it. No work to internals. Only set up for 6 lbs. boost so as to not blow the engine and it was awesome. We estimated 550 hp. And it was fast. Never had any problems. Should’ve kept it.
Chris says: if we blow the block we'll put another one in. 😂😂 I love his attitude. I've been pondering doing this to my 2019 Scat but was hesitant for that reason ...now we know it can be done. Thanks Racer X for always great content and kudos to Chris ,thanks for sharing .
You can’t do it with the scat the 6.4 have different internals
Great video! I've never thought about having a supercharger on my Rt Challenger, after seeing this video I am looking at a pro charger setup! I'd really like to do a turbo overall because of not wanting belt driven performance.
Nice to see you reaching the smaller models
Thanks racer x for sharing these awesome videos 😊
Just got a 2022! And this covered alot of questions i had and im loving his build! That sounds beautiful!
What a clean little build 👏
Nice build great job! We whippled our 5.7 Durango and 5.7 Challenger. No regrets! Ended up swapping and strokering the Challenger aswell. 😅
6:41 I was thinking the same thing.
🤔🤔🤔🤔 I have a 21' R/T and man I like this.
Great video RacerX and that is a truly awesome machine
What an awesome build
I so want to get some Eagle heads, a Hellcat blower, and put them on the 5.7 in my regular cab 2005 Daytona edition RAM 1500 truck. I just put a new rebuild engine in it back in April of 2023. It's fully broke-in now, and I would love to modify it.
Love the build and loved the video. Chris is a great guy and love that it’s a daily and a garage build. Hat tip to
thanks for the love nando
@@MaximumEffortRTHow’s it holding up with stock internals? & Around how much did it all end up costing you if you don’t mind me asking?
@@sethlulow it's holding fine. Just north of 5k
@@MaximumEffortRT Thanks for the reply man! Sick build I can’t wait to get there. Did you ever get it to a dyno?
@sethlulow no im doing the exhaust soon. Then it's off to the dyno
Chris is apart of the car group I'm in awesome build
Great video Racer X! Thanks!
Awesome build, but I really thought he would pull more then just a12.6 out of it. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with it..
A 12.6 clearly isn't the best it will do. It takes time at the track to get a car dialed in, even an automatic. He will have that car
in the 11's with a few more passes.
Perfect timing video I've been looking todo this setup for my 5.7
We need more of this car no doubt
Great video . i have a 2012 300 with a 426 and a hellcat supercharger with a comp stage 2 cam and long tube header no cats no resonators . i'm just dialing in the tune but cant wait to see how well it runs.
Wow what an informative video and owner. Big thanks. Ive been holding out on mkdding my 5.7 for something like this. Been following this mod for a while waiting for solid parts and tuning support. Thanks for this vid.
deadpool is definitely the vibe 😂
Chrome wheels look so much better than dirty-looking Black wheels. Beautiful eight-year-old Challenger. Love the color!
Hell yea good to see another one! I'm in the middle of making my 6.1 hemi hellcat supercharged!
6 psi ain't shit really hell even old 2v 4.6 mustangs can take 8-10 psi and everyone acts like they're fragile as hell
@@midnight347 if I can get 500whp on 6 psi and pump gas I won’t need more.
@@midnight347 yeah...a freaking LN2 (GM 4 banger) can take 8 safely and keep going to 200k+ miles. 6 aint shit.
@@tehagent1321 you got your tape measure at the ready? What…. Are you 17 years old? I don’t need the most. My challenger in stock form will walk away from 70% of all American cars ever made. We can talk stock vs stock and your little 4 banger doesn’t play. I can tell by the way your offended you don’t own any of the aforementioned.
Good video
Interesting build indeed. I would be interested in doing something similar. Tuning would be a big factor in doing a build like this. I would like to see updates on this build. Other 5.7 owners would be interested I'm sure. I would start to upgrade the driveline (LSD, HD axles) and suspension.
drew at shophellcat in ft myers is who i use. i do plan to upgrade the driveline as needed but im going to see how long the stock suspension will hold first.
@@MaximumEffortRT I’m in north Florida I’m Doing a Conversion myself got a 2020 Limited X getting a Turnkey Engine Kit getting a 6.4 and putting a whipple charger need a good shop here in Florida to get this done got any recommendations & I have a Demon hood for you I have a 2020 Anniversary scat pack challenger I turned into a Widebody and went demon hood then went to the redeye hood it’s a vicrez Demon hood
Guess you're not worried about forged Internals? That is really cool. Glad it's working for you. Been wanting to procharge my RT.
This deserves more likes!
Currently working on a 2nd gen ram sst with a 5.7 hemi and a hellcat supercharger. Big cam and terminator x and will be running ethanol.
😮this is so cool i❤it congratulations 🎊 gotta love it 😊thanks for sharing brother
people really sleep on those r/t's.
you can get used hellcat blowers for under 2k, adapter plates + injectors and other small stuff + labor = 4-5k
i guess stock r/t block with a hellcat blower makes around 450-480 to the wheel.
anything higher then that would shorten the lifespan on stock internals imo.
I did it to mine about 3 years ago I blew the original engine with 60k miles bought a new one and fully built it I bought most of the parts from mmx as well car runs great tuned on HP tuners also used an electronic boost controller and I to used one map sensor
What caused it to blow? How much boost were you running
@jennarulesforever how much boost was it pushing when it blew? I think this comment made me realize not to do what I was planning lol
Love it!! Would like to do this to my Charger Pursuit but since mine is AWD not sure if the transfer case could handle it.
For anyone wondering, supercharged 5.7's *usually* make around 550 WHP. I wouldn't be surprised if this one made just that.
I had a twin turbo 16' SXT Challenger
it was pretty sick i miss it.
made 520crank and around 478whp @20psi
Pretty dope.
Though I would advise that he get a cam and e85. It needs to rev higher as the stock RT cam holds it back massively. His car is performing the same as my RT with E85, a 392 cam, 392 intake, and a 3.09 diff.
I do plan on doing a Hellcat blower myself. Should be fun!
Amazing work!👍
This is added to my Bucket list!
Great stuff! was actually looking into do this with an r/t charger for some extra oomph
Cool as hell! Performance numbers please
0:51 homeboy was standing like a evil villain
I procharged my 5.7 chrysler 300s with 20x11 rear wheels on 315 radials and scat pack 3.09 differential and fule system upgrades and it's pushing 580 to the wheel and uta slaaps
I would like updates on this car.
When I get my RT, this is something I am willing to do!🔥 I think it sound dope‼️
Great content as always
I definitely want to see an update on this car.!
I think he made something his own and I'm with it 💪🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you.
Helluva build with some ingenuity but I would not. I have a 2nd hand Edelbrock SC (Eddy recommends no more than like 5-6-7lbs with stock engine)with 30k miles on in my basement. I am considering getting a 2012-2014 Scat Pack, this SC fits those too. I am no expert but I was very surprised that stock fuel pump & 10 lbs boost are on his R/T! Really pushing the boundaries of the 5.7!
i ran the stock fuel pump out i couldnt make any more power. this mornig the fuel pump was upgraded to a scat pack pump.
