I can't express how lucky sayla is to have parents that care about her skill sets as much as you and Laycie do. I'm 23 in sc and still trying to find ways to be more hands on in my area so I can eventually be like you guys. Always been my dream to have a farm.
Aww that’s so sweet 🥲
I love your oldest daughter!! What a blessing she is to your family. ♥️♥️
Good for her not giving into the peer pressure 😂
Definitely buying one of those traps!! Thanks for sharing because that is a life saver when keeping flies out of the house...I agree with Lacey...cant stand them in my home!
There's a recent short video on the "Evermore: Eden Restored" yt channel titled "Japanese Beetles-Traps-FREE Chicken Food". He rigged a Japanese Beetle trap to the outside fence of his chicken enclosure, about 4 (?) feet off the ground. Cut the bottom of the trap bag open and taped/rigged it to a plastic funnel, with a PVC pipe/tube going out the end of the funnel down to a few inches off the ground inside the chicken coop/enclosure. Had a bowl of water under the PVC pipe, at the bottom of it, and the video shows the chickens around the bowl of water, and as soon as a Japanese Beetle falls down the PVC pipe into the water, they peck it out! Ingenious way of attracting the Japanese Beetles and directly giving them to the chickens to eat!! Very clever and very easy.
That is pretty cool!
Wow, those fly traps look very effective! I hate flies. If it was me, I'd have about 20 of those traps surrounding my house! lol
I need some of those fly traps. My animals would love the relief. Love it
I own horses and these traps are a life saver!
Amazon..you can buy 2 or set of 4 or more. And they are not that expensive at all!
Don't hesitate!!!
@@kim_858 done. I ordered for my Neighbor too. The have horses also. Thanks for reply.
Mike make sure those flys are dead before you put them in the compost because compost is an excellent place for them to lay and hatch their eggs.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the Lord bless you and your family
You all are everything make my day hilarious but very interesting and informative love yawl
Love this trap, thank you for reminding me that I need a couple more!
Lacie, you made me laugh when you said "a pregnant woman and her nose knows what's best"
I'm 55 years old now but remember them pregnancy smells and sickness 🤣
Sending Love & Light to you all.
Thank you for the upload 🌻
Feeding the chickens coffee. Wow brave soul
Good one for Josiah. lol.. “Look there’s a bug in there!” Lacey looked for a live bug in the cricket jar. 🤣
Thanks for the coupon code! I ordered a flash sale deal at the bottom of the product page, buy 4 get 1 free + the 10% off coupon code + free shipping makes it a great deal! Very simple design and light weight but look like they do the job with no chemical attractants so don’t have to worry about dogs or cats trying to eat poison bait.
Stoney Ridge Farmer recently started using these traps around his cattle and house too.
Lacey in your profile pic, I have seen Micah make that same face and until then never realized how much you two look alike!!!
I had used those at one point in time but they didn't work and after seeing your video I know why mine didn't work thank you and God Bless you and your family
Love you guys ❤️
I love you guys. Fellow homesteaders. Maybe we will cross paths one day. I appreciate your videos. God Bless!
Thank you so much for sharing. We just ordered some!
the camp sounds so good
Thanks for discount! Had to order .cant wait to use it.🙂
You have adorable children and a beautiful family.
This is so awesome and I just ordered 2! Thank you😍
To everyone getting their knickers in a twist because we gave the chickens coffee and chocolate crickets, please just calm down. They got a few handfuls of bugs with a tiny amount of coffee and chocolate on them. No chickens had heart attacks from chocolate caffeinated crickets. If you don't believe me then please by all means read this.
Per the study, the lowest dose found to be toxic (but not immediately fatal) to chickens was 66 mg of theobromine per kilogram of body weight.
The average weight of an adult standard breed chicken is 8 pounds, or about 3.5 kilograms. At 3.5 kilograms, a chicken would need to eat about 240 mg theobromine for chocolate toxicity.
In order to ingest 240 mg theobromine, a single chicken would need to consume just ONE of the following:
2.5 tablespoons of Hershey’s Cocoa Powder
Almost 4 Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars
7 pieces of Hershey’s Bliss dark chocolate
12 pieces Hershey’s Kisses Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolates
32 Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Kisses
As you can see, a single chicken would need to eat quite a bit of chocolate in order to reach the toxic threshold. So, while chocolate should be avoided completely, a small amount should not be dangerous or cause for concern.
www.heritageacresmarket.com/what-chickens-can-and-cant-eat/
That is awesome. I will be getting one of those!!
Wow thanks for sharing 👍🏿 🙂
Great content
a great way to get rid of flies. thanks for the video and information. have a great day
That Micah is an adorable character. And you Mike with your aunt and uncle cracked me up. Just love your channel. And really loving waiting for the new baby. Many blessings🙏 and much love💕 and happy fly🪰catching from California 🌴👍🌴👍
What a great product. Definitely high on my list of things to buy. TFS!!!
Thank you
Fit Farmer, one of the best videos on the days in your lives. How fun!💧💧
We are just beginning our homesteading journey; thanks for sharing your knowledge and encouragement!
Best wishes on your homesteading journey!
I agree with Lacie.
Thanks for the video and the coupon code! Great non toxic way to catch flies. Very useful around our chicken coops.
I enjoy the channel and thanks for the educational videos. I’m planning on a similar homestead in Southeast Asia myself. Btw, the kids look great and seems you two have done well in raising such good kids. Thanks for sharing those angels with us. Good job you two.
Much love from Lenoir NC
Just ordered a fly trap. Thanks, yet again, for extremely useful information. Y''all take care!
oh thank you soooo much...I have to get one of(nope several of) those fly traps! yeesh...my cabin-home sits beside our barn and flies in summer are brutal...I hate the sticky fly strips but, they do actually work but that thing you showed is a must try! many thanks guys on the video!
Great 💡 idea, I really like how you decided to go with no chemicals.
I'm looking forward to using these,
Around my house
We just did a whole video on this topic as well! ❤ Great tips here!
Thanks
Great Family fun and entertainment, keep it up y'all enjoy your video
I’ve seen these and wondered if they really worked. Thanks for this video. I’ll be getting these for around the chicken coop 💕✌️🌱
I hate flies in my house too! Love the fly trap. I need to buy one of those!
I use fly traps that screw onto a jar from spring til fall. Fly traps also work good for black bugs during raspberry season. I set a couple up on the ground in the raspberry patch . I use apple juice for bait
Definitely going to look into getting one of those traps. Hope they sell them in the UK.
Great fish bait!
That fly trap is awesome!
Thanks Mike, I have some of those fly traps and they works well. I didn’t know that you shouldn’t feed the dead flies to chickens. Thanks for letting us know.
some cock and bull story they bought into . chicken eat fly larva all day long in compost
I'm glad I watched this,as I was gonna get one of those and feed the chickens the flies from it as I have saw a few videos on RUclips of people doing it, but I don't want our little pet silkies, polish n gold tops getting poorly 😢 me n kids would be heartbroken as we have already lost our first 3 brown layers of having them 3 years 😢💔🐓
@@terrireddish2522 chicken die below 2 weeks and above 2 years due to diseases if not taken care of.
they do not die by eating flies. but if you kill flies by using toxic/ poisons to feed chickens , they'll get sick and even die ......then like Mike the expert in the video will blame the flies !
equally ignorant folks like you will also agree with him like you are doing here
I bought it thanks Mike I will be sending it to my sister in the West Indies.
Wow, way to catch those flies. 😊💜
Mine didn’t come with any instructions! Had to come back to you to figure it out. Thanks for the help ❤️🙏❤️
i was just thinking about getting one!!
My mother-in-law had a similar one, but they mounted it like 10 feet up off the ground and it didn't work very well. I think we'll give it another shot mounted down low. Thanks for the tip!
Careful, they're addictive. Forget the step, they put a pep in your jump! 🤣😂😆 from our homestead to yours. Blessings and love! Keep it up brother, stay strong. You have no idea how much your smile during these times quell my families anxiety... one love.
👏👏👏 Well done Micah for trying the crickets!! 🦗
I just bought 5 of these. Look out flies this summer. 🇦🇺
Looks like your having a buggy day today , wonderful fly/bug trap... I sure would not want to empty that,,lol Always nice to visit with the family, stay well and God Bless....Amen
I'm with Lacey, no coffee, chocolate, or any flavor bugs to eat.
The fly catcher is a reusable trap?
It’s a good thing to set the trap inside the coop
You need to cover or hide it from he hens
I'm with you on flies in the house
If I didn't see this I wouldn't believe it. That's a lot of flies!! I don't like flies either and I was wondering what you would do with them. Glad they're going in the compost to be beneficial for the garden in the future.
I’m going to order some 🙋🏽♀️
And that’s how chocolate Easter eggs are made. 😄
Here is a dad joke for ya. why didn't James Bond ever fart in bed?
Because he was afraid of blowing his cover.
Aloha from Tom and Sue
We tried to get 5 of those Fly Traps, but had a problem with the on line order and never got an order number.
We tried to contact the company and got the runaround. we finally had to have get a new card and destroyed the old one!
I really wanted those traps !!
That is great fly trap
Wow! You can compost those flies? I didn't know that! And I didn't know that flies could give your chickens tapeworms. I learn something new every day! I live in a subdivision and I am allowed to have chickens so I have 6 little laying Hens. And 7 raised gardens in my backyard. And flower gardens in the front and backyard. I would love to have a small Orchard in my sideyard but the rising cost of water has put a damper on all of my plans, although I did manage to plant an apple tree out front a couple of years ago. Its doing well.. :) .. You have a lovely family and it's fun to see all the goings on with your homestead.
Get some barrels and collect rain water from your roof gutters to water garden and fruit trees. There are kits available to tap into the downspouts to fill barrels with rain water. Mulching heavily with wood chips, grass clippings, chop & drop or chop & shred comfrey, kale leaves, tree leaves, straw, etc around fruit trees will hold a lot of moisture in the ground decreasing the need to water as often. Can also drill 1” holes in the bottom & sides of 5 gallon buckets, bury in the soil up to the rim so you can get the lid on and off and you can compost in them. It really helps bring in earth worms, builds soil fertility and soil biology which helps soil to hold moisture a lot longer. I have them in areas of terrible soil, fill bucket up, wet contents, put on lid and check on them every few days at first then every 2 weeks or so. Works real well for winter composting too and gives soil life food to eat after most annual plants roots have died back.
omg so cool
Chickens all jacked up on coffee 🤣🤣
Got one
I definitely need one of those. We live next door to a cattle farmer
I love that little 👦
I ate sour cream crickets and they were pretty good!
Cool
I've been doing it wrong. I never read the recommended height either. Mine are set between 5-6 feet on pole and I really don't trap many. I did it because of my dogs. Now I'll have to figure on lowering it and find say location from the dogs so they don't eat the bait. Thanks for showing an informative video.
Thanks for sharing! I’m not eating crickets or any other insect! Great fly traps! Many blessings to your family 🤗❤️🇨🇦
I watched another channel I won't say on ur video but he had fly traps as well he used them as composed & millions of live flies came, he then after all that mess he put them all in a metal can and burnt them all said it smelled horrible but much better than the tons of live flies, just wanted to mention that, btw keep being Amazing love your alls channel!!
Nothing worse than having a lot of aggravating flies. What a great find. Love your channel. I would not eat those bugs either. Love you guy's 💗.
Lol. Being a male I didn’t read the manual. Love it.
R u going to get a big home 4 yr fam ??I cant wait 4 it good luck god bless u all
I love cricket is so good 👍
Your chickens will lay chocolate coffee eggs. LOL
I don’t blame you Lacey … that’s a no for me also.
Mike’s got jokes.
Ants and Uncles Heee Heee
You all are so So FLY
Keep up the great work .
I liked your pun. Thanks for posting that. It got a chuckle!
Hi..... Mike Dickson and Lacie and nice to see you all love watching your videos, thank you for showing your video homestead chickens duck goose farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🐕🐐🐝🌱🌺🌹🌻🌼🌸🌷🏡🎥👍👍👍
Nice to see you leave a comment. Did you find a job? Have a great weekend.
@@StoneKathryn I have got a job only for six months that is a house keeping and then I have to find another job. OK thanks you keep it up and keep Sharing and keep showing your video 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
One dish that might be considered an acquired taste, is that of the Mopane Worm, the green and blue spiky caterpillar of the nocturnal Emperor Moth. It looks very pretty on the butterfly-leafed Mopane Tree, but loses some of its appeal once its innards have been squeezed out, and it has been boiled and sun dried, then re-hydrated when needed. Many dishes are made by Mopane Worms in Southern Africa.
They sent you all the chocolate/coffee covered crickets from the youth camp? Yes, those are quite a treat for the chickens. Those fly traps are amazing. Love the ant and uncle joke Mike. The chickens will love those I think. Too bad that you can't feed them to the chickens. I wouldn't want tape worms in my chickens either. Wet cat food, that sounds easy to do. Thanks for posting about this Mike.
I have that seen fly trap it works
Wow!
The chickens are gonna get the coffee and chocolate caffeine buzz…lol
Chickens on caffeine should be interesting...lol🤣🤣🤣
Agree on the fake meat. I’d rather eat beans, yummy. No veggie chemical blend loaded with salt lol. I’d try the bug food at least once. Love to the whole family 💕😊🍀
Eeeeeeks . Haha my Niece's dad lived in Malaysia for a while and they ate all sorts of bugs lol
Micah lol that was cute
Watching while eating popcorn lol
I definitely need one of those fly traps and your chicken sure did love the chocolate covered crickets but I don't think chickens can have chocolate but what do I know lol. 😊
I know dogs can't have chocolate but I didn't know about chickens.
@@StoneKathryn
I have chickens and i Google it.. My grandson gave my chickens chocolate and my neighbor told me it's not a good idea...
Cocoa Krispies!
I had a couple of those l
use old milk with some bread works good
Those traps are great, except you have to shake the dead flies back out that ting hole. I cut mine up one side from metal ring to metal ring & taped it closed with a piece of scotch tape vertically. Then when full of dead flues, I just untape it like a zipper & dump the flues out for yummy chicken treats.
