Steve Winwood accomplished more in the music industry before the age of 25 than most musicians do in a lifetime. Multiple instruments, multiple groups, distinctive vocals, enduring songs like Gimme Some Lovin', 'Im A Man', 'Keep On Runnin', ' Dear Mr. Fantasy', 'Can't Find My Way Home', 'Low Spark'. He was fronting Spencer Davis at the age of 15 in 1963 and able to stay focused and relatively sober to today...a truly remarkable career.

not quite, the 80s superseded your 60s/70s... by far and above, after end of 80s it went spiralling down , as the boundaries had been reached and breached within those 10 years .. of course 60/70 was AWESOME AWESOME, and b4 for JAZZ, but still intellectually speaking , 80s equal ZENITH for music film

Saw him once in London, ON. After a draw dropping guitar solo on Dear Mr. Fantasy he sat down behind the Hammond organ for the next song. I was very close to the stage to witness more amazing talent. He had one hand on the Hammond keys. The other hand was playing another keyboard run while both feet were playing bass pedal, and he sang into the mic as well. Never missed a note and made it so easy. To know he wrote I'm A Man and Gimme Some Loving at age 15 is truly astounding!.

I live on Maui, and i worked for six years at Bounty Music. Dave Mason comes in from time to time. I hate to say it, but I knew nothing about this band, (I’m almost 40 now). My older coworkers would tell me he was in the band “Traffic” and is a legend. I looked up the band and realized they were the ones who played this song, and I’ve heard it from time to time on the radio, and always loved it. The next time I saw Dave, I told him that I didn’t know you guys wrote that song, and he being the gentleman he is, decided to give me a quick guitar lesson of a his preferred different version of this song, that was in a minor key. I’m grateful for the lesson, but honestly, I like this version a lot more.

Musicians like Steve, and the three below with piano/keyboard as their primary or a "close" secondary instuments, often do approach the guitar from less conventional ( more unique, orininal, and inovative) "angles?"
      Prince
      Eric Johnson
      Edward Van Halen
Steve spent some real time in New York at Electric Lady with Hendrix during the recording of "Electic Lady Land" double album. He laid down organ tracks and supposedly was deeply involved in the recording process. They enjoyed playing/ creating, and just hanging out when time, schedules, and others weren't in the shadows or the light... "Dear Mr. Fantasy," so who and what is Steve singing/writing about in this song?
