Just saw Peter last night in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He is now 73 years old and I am here to tell you, the dude has not lost a step! His voice, guitar playing and band were on point! This may be his last tour playing live. See him if tou can. You won’t regret it!
I get to set up his show here in Orlando on Friday. I've worked in the music biz for 40 years but have never got to work or see his show. Friday ends that.
I thought he’d already retired in ‘19 because of health problems? Wow is all I can say and lucky you!! Glad he’s doing better! Could still kick myself for missing him in Tulsa on farewell tour. Saw him in ‘76 promoting this album with Gary Wright and Santana…whew!

Almost 50 years later and 23 million views. Every time I pull up this video it brings tears to my eyes. I could hear my dad blaring this in my living room and me telling him to turn it down so I can play my video games. Unfortunately, my dad passed away a year ago next week and I wish I could’ve appreciated this genius with him together. I know he’s looking down smiling saying “I told you it was great music!!”

In 77 I quit my high school wrestling team, grew my hair and learned how to play the guitar because of Frampton and have no regrets. 🎸 I felt like he did and still do.

I get the point you're making but I can't help but laugh at the irony of your last statement there. No autotune or trickery, this song being one of the first examples I can think of using exactly that. The vocoder is like the grandfather of autotune.

Unfortunately, the audiences on the Midnight Special were always that way no matter who was playing. I think they may have been told not to cheer.
Man those were the days. Every Saturday nite at midnight. Every band you could think of would go on that show. They played live. Other than the album covers it was the only way we could see who they were. So many great memories. I really wish young people today could time travel back and see what the 70s were like. Believe me, you won’t wanna come back here

True, I remember my older brother buying this in 1977. I couldn’t believe what I was listening to.
I can vouch for the fact that this album was perhaps the most popular of all, at least in the US high school scene, despite that being a historic year for music, with so many awesome albums (including Boston's debut) in so many genres.
Ain’t that the truth! I remember saving up my allowance for this album and I didn’t realize at the time it was extended version as they only played the short version on the radio. Yes, those were great times. This album sold several million very quickly. I think I’ll Google Frampton because for some unknown reason he fizzled out fairly quickly and I never understood why.
Everyone in our age bracket, the preps, the rockers, the jocks and even the Brothas...all had/have this dbl Lp masterpiece. 🎼🤘

I think Roger Waters took an irrelevant Pink Floyd band up to 1977 and creatively mastered the hard rock albums "Animals" of 1977 and "The Wall" to become relevant in heavy metal I think Rolling Stones told Pink Floyd in 1975 they were playing melodic rock only for aging audiences. Everything in music 1975 to 1979 started to become new envelope pushes for rock groups to become relevant. I can't even get Foreigner's "Feels Like The First Time" or "Head Games" very much relevant as many other heavy metal music artists let alone Disco artists, Country artists, Punk Rock artists in synth music, etc. of 1970s 2nd half decade inspired by music up to 1975.

Midnight Special was always simulcast on radio where I was (SF Bay area) so we always cranked the stereo and turned off the TV sound. They sounded great!

Saw him at the Capitol theatre in Passaic, NJ, sometime around 77', played the live album note for note, word for word, it was just Ok. I wasn't really impressed at the time.
Arguably on of the most underrated musicians of the 70's. He still sounds great to this day.
2019 is his farewell tour. I am catching a date this month.

Yes,he is. I saw him back in 1978, and just 2 summers ago (40th year Anniversary Tour), at the Tent in South Boston. He was incredible back then and still is now! I remember this TV show.We used to watch this, and Don Kirschner's Rock Concert. Quality television before cable was introduced!

I was 10, he was 15 and to me the coolest dude on earth! They found him dead in a ditch after a bad drug deal, I keep his memory alive by playing this record. To Allen!!

These Midnight Specials were awesome to watch when i was a teen. They got the musicians just when their songs with riding UP the charts...not after they had played them a few hundred timesand do so just with tired vocals and licks. Awesome.
I discovered Aerosmith by way of "The Midnight Special" & my crush Steven Tyler ;) They sang "Dream On" & was over the moon. The show was a must see every week. Real bands, real music; real talent..

I was a freshman in college when this came out. This song played all throughout the floor in our dorm.
I saw Frampton in 1975 when I had just turned 17 years old. First Concert my parents let me attend. UFO then Fleetwood Mac opened for Frampton and it was a warm summer day "on the green" at Oakland. I've seen a LOT of Concerts since that day, but I will NEVER forget it. Friggin' great memories!

He wasn’t underrated. We loved him. For a minute there, he was bigger than Bowie! That horrible follow up album, though.

Frampton Comes Alive is one of my all time favorite guitar albums. Frampton is one of the few(Santana excelled as well) who could play great wild stuff, and great slower music(Lines on My Face).

The talk box gets me every time, such a groovy and phenomenal song that got us up on our feet and clapping when seeing him live in ‘76. Gary Wright~Santana opened show, ticket sales broke a city record (Tulsa). Still have my ‘Frampton Comes Alive’ album(s)…one at home and one at my “happy place”. Peter is a total smoke show hottie w/gorgeous brown eyes, nice looking outfit! 🎉🎉🎉

Saw him last night at Hard Rock Live Hollywood FL and I have to say that I was absolutely amazing. I was quite surprised because a lot of his songs were like soft-smooth rock with a touch of blues and jazz. ❤ what an awesome show.
Thanks to technology, I still had his record album that I bought in 1978 while doing my matric One. I can't play it cause I do not have my turntable. Now due to technology I could listen to it. My favourites artist.

I only saw this clip a couple of days ago for the firstly time and have watched it 3 or 4 times since. It is so good. We didn't see any footage of him here in Australia despite his live album selling big here. So much talent and charisma. He really was an impressive performer and deserved the success of his live album a few years later.
This was huge in Australia. For about three months he was the biggest star of them all.
This is my childhood! My cousins were teens and played this at 11 on the turntable next door while keeping an eye on us during the summer. Small town life with little supervision, hey that's how it was. A lot of unique smells in the air, but we all knew what Peter was saying, and we'd giggle when he did. But those ripping guitar riffs don't quit!

After watching multiple clips from this badass show, I haven't noticed anyone give major props to the producer. The camera shots are just what musicians are looking for. Like anyone, they stick on the lead singers a bit much, but still it's fantastic production.
Sound mix is almost always on point as well.
Obviously the musicians kick ass... Just wanted to give kudos to the production team.
I think it helped that the lead singer was also the lead guitarist 🙂

Saw his Sunday night in Greensboro NC and he's still got it even though he had to sit down to play. It brought back such great memories of his concert in 1976 in Roanoke, VA. Such a unique sound.

And he gave it to me with a humble and happy smile, for which I will be forever grateful. In my opinion Peter is one of the top 3 Rock & Roll stars of the last 50 years.

Peter Frampton , one of the greatest rock jam bands of all time. Love that Fender Rhodes keyboard too. It’s what inspired me to do two piano lessons a week and take up the bass.
I seen Frampton when he came out with his album Frampton comes alive in Detroit many years ago I can say that I was hooked on this album he was my idol for this album

Hendrix had only died a few years earlier. Clapton, Beck, Page, Duane Allman, Santana, Blackmore, Gary Moore, Alvin Lee, Peter Green, Ted Nugent, Edgar Winter, Rory Gallagher, ect. ect
It was pretty hard to stand out in that crowd.
My mom had this album when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's - always loved this song and Show Me the Way. Here I am 30-40 years later loving it.
Oh the 70's! Imagine being one of the greatest guitarist, at the time, and standing there kicking ass, while everyone is sitting on their asses. It was just the way it was back then! AWESOME TUNE!
