    There are plenty of TIE Defender builds that are insanely strong for capital ship damage, but they require an awful lot of training. But this guide is mostly focused on starfighter loadouts that many can master in a day & instantly see a difference. *If you want those TIE Defender loadouts.     I always went for targeting after shields, especially when the enemy team is a nightmare with intercepting you, the added pressure of the MC75 can sometimes be enough to push me over my limit

      you really shouldn't, killing targeting does almost nothing. Your target priority should be Shield Generators >>>>>>>>>>> Hull Breaches > Power System > Hull Breaches > Hull Sections / Turrets

      Please don't! I hate people going for targeting system! That's such a waste of time and would only be worth the trouble if that would totally disable tractor beams and turrets!
      You might even argue if the shield generators are worth the trouble and instantly go for power systems and the breaches if you can quickly strip the shields with ion torpedoes, but going for targetting simply is a waste.

    When the New Republic has two bombers but they are both almost useless at destroying a Star Destroyer.

      The only reason Tie Bomber is somewhat usable is power shunting. Bombers need some slight redesign, maybe a component like the Gyro. Change the Y-Wing Auto Cannon to activate on press, and double press/dumb fire, hyperjump back to your flagship, negates the slowness somewhat, also 50% ammo increase, 1/2 CD time. For the Bomber, instead of launching 1 Secondary, you launch two, but no CD decrease, only ammo increase.

    hey hey, Boss Nass here! Thought I would chime in on this video as this is a topic I have some knowledge on as a bomber/obj player.
    In general, I would say that Proton Bombs are all you really need to take out a shield generator if you get a good approach. You can mosquito and deal damage with Rotary Cannon and bombs and you will usually get it before getting killed. Beam Cannon does make it a bit more reliable.
    The pure AI farm build (Goliath + Multilock) is totally reasonable for taking out shield generators as well. You can also do Proton Bomb + Goliath...farm AI and then immediately run to the shield generators without having to swap loadouts.
    If you're going for a pure shield generator run build, I would actually go with Boost Extension + Proton Bombs to get there faster and preserve more of your energy.
    As for your TIE Fighter build, the Boost Extension is super unnecessary as you already have near infinite boost energy with the fast recharge on Burst Cannons. Using chain drifting with power to weapons, shunting to engines when you run out gives more than enough boost. Repair Kit would be a better option to improve your survivability.
    I usually go with the TIE Defender to do shield generator runs if I'm swapping loadouts. It takes a bit longer to kill subsystems but if you can manage to stay alive, you'll do more overall damage. It's vastly superior to the TIE Bomber though it is much more difficult to use. Flying the TIE Defender effectively is a whole video on its own :)

    When takeing out the shield generator if you use momentum and swing your aft around, you could in theory keep your bow pointing on target longer, also fliping ship above or below you should work as well.

    Another loadout:
    TIE fighter
    Piercing torpedo
    Concussion missile
    Fire piercing torpedo, dip inside the shields and fire the conc. This will deal 50% damage if both land. Do this run again, and you'll have a dead shield gen.

    I often go for power systems first. And then whenever the shields are disabled, which usually happens during every assault, your Corvette will do huge amounts of damage to the hull when it hits the weak points. You can take out the power system with one shot if you can sneak under the Shields and hit it with an ion torpedo. Or an ion missile, which you can dump fire, plus a few shots with your ion cannons and the power system is gone. It's a single pass, And unless somebody is targeting you specifically to prevent you from doing it, it's not very hard. You just have to approach from the top and head straight down towards the power system to sneak under the shield.
    Anyway. I usually take that out first just because it's easier than the shields. of course in high level gameplay. There's people targeting you all the time so it all gets much harder to do.

    If you're _not_ playing as the dedicated bomber in the moment, don't slouch on the targeting system once those shields are down. That MC-75's heavy turbolasers are in a really convenient place, more so than the ISD. It can really help your teammates.

      @@nassattack Agreed. I rarely get killed by the flagship anyway (and if, then while I'm not attacking it but got too close during dogfighting). It makes more sense to take out the turrets directly.

      @@DanWeeks actually it did help me a ton... For the empire now I can destroy the shields of the mc 75 in one or 2 runs and destroying it is now way easier and I understood alot more about the hull breaches, etc. So this video was honestly one of the most helpful for me.

    Everytime he says he's locking on with piercing torpedo at "15 thousand meters" I'm assuming he means 1500m right? Or are the distances on the hud crosshair different?

      I don't know maybe it's kilometers versus meters. Could be different. It doesn't matter. The number on your hud is 1500. That's what matters.

      No, 500 for sure. Reason being that attentive players will shoot your slow torpedoes down, so you want to get in to minimum firing distance to reduce the chance of that happening. I shot down 25 torpedoes in a game because the other team's fighters were releasing them far away.

      @@EcksToo you kept saying fifteen thousand meters (15,000) when the piercing torpedo locks, when I think you meant fifteen hundred (1,500). I don’t think the entire map is 15,000 meters across.

    I endured the same frustration when I practice Vander sloop offline. Found out about the difficulty level and then boom, I can pull that off finally. But all the practice effort are well worth it.

    Targetting does have some value to destroy it once you’ve gotten all the breaches. All subsystems do some percentage damage to the hull when they explode. So if your choice is shooting bare hull or targeting, take out targeting.

      Very true! Destroying lasers, tractor beams, or any other component will do far more damage than trying to destroy bare hull.

      Highly disagree, destroying a hull section does about the same amount of damage and has a chance of spawning a hull breach. The amount of time you waste destroying targeting you can easily get a lot more damage destroying hull sections and turrets. No serious competitive team wastes their time destroying targeting.

      Simple.
      1. Co-operate with squadmates.
      2. shoot 1 ion torpedo at each frigate, starting with the one the raider is attacking, or co-ordinate with teammate to take out both shields at the same time.
      3. other teammates attack w proton torpedoes/bombsdoes the shields.

    My biggest gripe is those shield generators. ISD shields are just so easy to shoot once you went inside the ship's shields. On the MC75 however, you have to pretty much glue yourself to the hull and even so it would be very difficult to hit it.

    Is there a preferred side in taking down the shieldgenerator on the mc57? Sometimes the ships turn side by side on some maps. Is it always the same? I think the "backside" shieldgenerator should be shot down at first, bcause the mc57 turns most time the side u practised in this video towards the ISD. Or is the side random?

      Depends on the map, and is always the same, just make a mental note for each map, because yes, it's better to take one side out before the other if you ever reach the side to side stage

      (Hopefully this is helpful) Rebels figured out an xwing can fly under ISD shields while approaching shield gens diagonally and from below, allowing you to hit shield gens with proton torp + pierce torp simultaneously. This meant you can knock out a gen in a single run. The counter developed against this was to sit on shield gen on defense, either gun down incoming xwing or release chaff to block missile lock and block torps from landing. Counter to this counter has been to use jet engines, boost skipping, boost gasp, to do a drifting “dance” / kite around gens in a loop while firing conc missiles and burst lasers til gens go down. An alternate strategy is to ion down shield gens (a wing w ion lasers and ion rockets, x wing w ion missile and lasers), which disables them, and then the rest of the team swoops in to KO gens. Support ships at higher levels spam mark and mask. Imp teams generally are going defender heavy for its infinite drift chaining, which make it very hard to hit. Tie bombers can still suicide-run a gen as well demonstrated in this video. The b wing is largely unusable. The y wing is useful as an AI farmer on defence and to a limited role on offence vs frigates only (not vs ISD). Sorry if that was rambling, consider checking out the squadrons championship league for high level gameplay!       I forgot a few things, rebel counters to tie defenders is a-wing with ion lasers and quick lock missles, especially with support marking defenders to disable countermeasures. Also y wings can run auto ion turret to disable defenders too. But defenders are still very powerful and may face a slight nerf with next update. (There was a bug where dead drifting basically made them invulnerable to lasers which was patched)

    Hi Charlie, question question on your Tie loadout. Do you find propulsion engines to be better suited for this loadout as opposed to thrust and is the maneuverability penalty with thrust too severe when combined with reinforced hull?

      Thrust + Reinforced is *absolutely* too much of a hit to maneuverability and acceleration.

      I find that unstable and reinforced work better for me (better balance for maneuverability) but on xwing, it can be a lot of fun with thrust, lite hull, fortified shields (and torps)

      The TIE Bomber already has impressive maneuverability. I am happy to sacrifice it because I’ve perfected drifting. It’s highly recommend you get used to drifting to turn before using these loadouts!

    I'd say the shields on the Profundity needs a nerf or something.
    ISD should be stronger than the Profundity, not the other way around.

    Great Video man! I have a few methods I think are a little bit easier, if you ever wanna get to together sometime. Also I have one method where you can take out both shield gens and power all in one run. Probably not doable in a real game, but fun to know regardless- Djinn.

      No theyre balanced. The ISD’s subsystems are all much further back than the MC, so you already have to get past more guns and missile turrets than the ISD. Also the ISD body is physically larger and harder to fly around. So they are already balanced. Balanced does not have to mean identical!

      @@manwhalejoe6962 I disagree. You can simply fly around the ISD on your approach, or come from above. The fact alone that you really need to attack the shield gens actually from the side on the MC-75 is a huge advantage, because if you don't take them out quickly the flagships will be side-by-side in the final stage of a battle (e.g. Yavin, Eseless, evan Galitan) making it much harder to reach the shield gen on the far side. The ISD's shield gens, on the other hand, are sitting right in the middle on top directly next to each other.

    I always, ALWAYS get snagged by the tractor beam whenever I go for the shield generators against the MC75. The problem with going for them first against the Star Destroyers is getting to the back of the damn thing. I've found no success going for them first. And that's not even considering the maddening aimbot AI fighters that'll pick you off at max distance with near 100% accuracy.

      I use burst cannon, rockets, con. missile, deflector hull, fortified deflector, propulsion engine, and chaff particle when attacking the shield generators. Then I'd switch rockets with multi-lock missiles when attacking the ship itself.

      Better is a very interesting point of view, the A wing may be better than the interceptor, but the defender is better than the A wing. Also the reinforced hull tie fighter is arguably better than the X wing for objective runs, but both have their strengths.
      Tbh I consider the factions to be relatively balanced at this point, personally.

      if you see the top guys on twitch, youll see them mentioning how the empire is slightly stronger. I play solo (im legend) and consistently go against aces and legends, and at top level the game is pretty balance. Empire has a slight advantage because of the tie defender.
      and for taking out shild generators, just use a tie defender with burst cannons, concussion missles( dumbfire) and rockets and dead drift around the MC 75. You can LITERALLY take out BOTH shield generators in less than a min with one tie defender.
      The tie defender is definitely getting some nerf because its the best ship in the game.

      @@avgjoegaming8271 Personally, as a galactic ace player hunter with the highest player kills per game in the squadrons championship league, I do find myself stronger on the tie defender. The A wing doesn't compete with its sustain and although it can beat the defender, it often requires specialist loadouts to take it 1v1.
      This superiority is balanced out by the new republic ships being universally harder to secure kills on due to shields. It is very possible to make a torpedo run, take fire, evade and regenerate shields in an X wing at the top level of play. This is then further balanced by the reinforced tie fighters having a vast health pool as well as very good speed.
      The defender itself is also countered rather well with an Ion Cannon Turret (ICT) Y wing. A common trap nowadays is to AI farm in a Y wing with ICT to bait a superiority defender in, then activate the ICT to lower its shields and have the A wings finish it off.
      My point is there is a lot of counterplay on both teams nowadays, and skill more often than not decides the winner at the very top level of play. There are times one faction's bonuses shine and victory is obtained that way, but it's far less common than it used to be.

      Yes! Which is exactly as it should be. Every new idea should not be a cause for immediate nerfing. A pleasure to watch the SCL and Calrissian Cup games.
