it would be nice if you showed video of the attack runs on cap ships that you described
Right, "showing" is so much better than "telling" while you have some completely unrelated video playing for a topic. So many content creators are guilty of this.
Here’s what I think. The Y-Wing should be the heavier of the bombers focusing mainly on strong but slower attacks. I was hoping that the TIE bomber would be more about fast attacks. Less health and no shields in exchange for more speed which means a faster proton bomb and ion bomb attacks rather than simply using the laser thing.
Shunting mechanics sort of already achieves that for the TIE Bomber. I don't actually mind it's damage output as much as the Reinforced Hull. It just needs to be tapped down a teeny bit.
Ion bombs also need to be much more powerful. Tie bombers are crap at destroying shields compared to the tie reaper.
The most hated tactic is when a match starts half of my squadron drops out
That attack vs defending death is suuuper helpful and solves a mystery I never understood about why player points when from 10 to 5!
"attacker need to play more conservatively" is the best tips you can get from this video.
Right, its hard to win when all your fighters die every 10 seconds...
Yes I’m so tired of 30 second attacks because people go in peace meal picked off one by one not waiting for fellow attackers to respawn
how is there no visual examples of the attacking runs if you guys recommend doing it
I think the most hated thing for me is when I'm in persuit of a bomber and they brake check me and start going about 2kph.
This is where a more continuous throttle ends up being an advantage over the stop-start nature of incremental.
I hate that tactic where half the squad leaves at the start of the game. Doesn't even matter if I'm in the full squad. It's just boring. I'd like it if they filled up the empty spots with AI. That would at least give you a small chance of still winning the game.
Björn Tantau | I won a placement match where two of our teammates quit, so we were 3v5. Despite winning, the game did not count because two of ours left. Excellent matchmaking and placement system, you can really tell they put literally no thought or effort into it.
So my favorite tactic on assaulting ISD is to shadow the corvette on its way in so that the ISD can't see me behind it then spring out and wreck the shield generator then (try to) escape.
Recycle back to the front and follow it in again for the second shield generator.
As to the whole tie bomber issue I mainly play interceptor and have never found them a bother. Using the stealth build with the multi-rocket I stealth in behind them and then unleash all four rockets along with a full barrage. They don't know where I am and in the ensuing panic I can melt them down. Your mileage will vary depending on where you are fighting them, out in the open not to bad, near the enemy flagship...... not great.
My biggest in combat pet peeves, tie bomber hull strength. Biggest overall game pet peeve, the fact that there's always one person who doesn't ready up in lobby...
Reinforced Hull on Tie Bomber is definitely too strong, but if an A-Wing gets behind them... Unless you get help, you're pretty much boned xD
Yep, especially if they have rapid fire cannons and rockets. But any other ship is going to go through their entire overcharge and normal charge, and the bomber is going to keep going...
They're definitely extremely strong, but consider the fact that any bomber built to be tanky like that has zero chance of escaping you or out maneuvering you.
I don’t have a least favorite but my favorite is tractor beam for the support, because you can get them caught in the tractor beam and just lay down fire. I was in a match with you and Eck not even trying to be and I used this tactic on Eck when ever I could find him.
I hate how bombers are used. You basically suicide to deliver payload on offense or sit as a rotary turret on defense.
I really try to play bomber balanced, but I see my team do it and its always so infuriating when we lose because the other team mates just refuse to play the game authentically and just farm.
Such good tips, HOWEVER without a visual matching up and zooming in on focus points with clips of these things happening, it's pointless
I can't stand rotary bombers that camp underneath their flagship's shields the whole match.
yeah, they need to either make it so you quickly lose power if you're stationary for more than a few seconds, or make it so shields go both ways.
@@ExileTwilight Or just make you self destruct if you are camping.
@@dat581 There are legit reasons to stop moving sometimes (such as when boosting behind cover to recover shields or such), how would they possibly know the difference between that and camping? Ultimately the real problem with camping is that you hide behind your capital ships shields, not that you're standing still.
@@ExileTwilight Simple. Don't allow camping under a capital ship's shields. Missiles need to have a longer range than they do and need to pass through shields. That would go a long way to fixing the problem.
Great hints & tips. I like the Y-Wing best, it's got good shields and weapons.
With combo controls, I've found I've been clenching the controller and boosting unintentionally. As such, I unmapped it from left stick click and put it on the left trigger instead. I removed the "see loadout" control entirely (share/select) and replaced it with target forward, though I may swap target forward and cycle targets in the future. I've found this has caused my deaths by pilot error to drop significantly
Tangero | For those with Elite (or similar) controllers, mapping boost to the upper left paddle and X to the upper right paddle helps a lot when managing boost easily, and managing your shields and shunting while keeping both thumbs on sticks. This is what I used until the HOTAS patch went live.
Squadrons has honestly had me considering snagging an Elite
"left bumper trigger"
What now? There's a bumper and a trigger. Which one?
Trigger
Charlie, were you ill when you made this vid? I sincerely hope not - but if so, get well soon bud!
And thank you for the quality content, as always 👌
I just hate it when people destroy my cruisers or subsystems, even though we’re on the attack. So basically enemies attacking out of turn
While I somewhat agree I think the turns need to change to fix this. I hate that cruisers and capital ships randomly do one shot kills on you when you are on the defense, a lot of times when I die that's the reason. I see the line on the map but its not shown at all in game. either give us a visual idea or make the enemy ships hit with normal damage while being able to withstand a lot more fire to balance the turn based nature
I really hate it when the enemy team is focusing only one target. Espascially when they are at defense and just block one frigate. Its really hard to get into the next phase then. But maybe i‘m just suffering of friends to play this tactic as well
Great video thanks
For the question at the start, I love doing a simply bombing run as a y wing or tie bomber
The TIE Bomber meta is terrible, as are stationary fighters.
I would love to see tips on how to fly each class of ship. Avoiding damage in a dog fight is the hardest part of this game IMO
Try out the fighter-ceptor build.
Take a fighter and give it the light hull.
Top speed just under the interceptor with higher health and higher manuevarbility.
Slightly different weapons as well.
Check it out, it's becoming my new favorite
So I'm currently playing on ace campaign. I max out my shields but still die really quick if something gets on my tail, to prevent this I assume boost drift would help a lot. Problem is if you dont have your systems on engine your boost drains to fast to even be usable unless you are on engine all the time. If I am on engine all the time it takes forever to kill something which means I die right before a check point. Does this translate to multiplayer because if it does I dont think ill even bother with boost learning regardless of people telling me its good, slowing down and turning seems to be almost as fast.
Oh, most hated tactic? Flying right in front of a subsystem and stopping, just floating there, in a bizarre suicide attack that just ruins immersion when viewing.
Well on dislikes, in dogfighting it's when you run into 5 swings running mines. They get more kills with a weapon they don't have to aim than with lasers.
What i hate is just after you load in, that message "player has left server" appears n you know damn well win ir lose it doesnt mean a thing and usually its a round where you kick ass with kills n flagship damage too. Oh and ive found a tactic where tie interceptors and a wings stealth up and camp just off from the flagships so they just shred you as you attack, god damn i hate that
Having bombers latching on to dead spots on the hull like ticks is really annoying
Hi Charlie. What settings do you use while on controller as I’m PS4 and a new player to the game? Thanks
Least favorite tactic: dropping speed to zero to attack a capital ship. It's a bombing run, dammit, not a bombing park!
#AskEck hey, in the nebula Star Wars squadrons mission of destroying the ISD with the StarHawk, we see at the end, the ISD makes a random jump still being in the StarHawks “tractor beam”. If they are said to be “the best” in Lost Stars and other books and are able to take super star destroyers down with it, shouldn’t the ISD be ripped apart into two as a result since the powerful tractor beam acts as a gravity well while pulling the ISD toward the StarHawk? Thanks
the tie bomber hull does feel OP in an x wing
Definitely the massive plot armor of the TIE Bomber. It is pretty much the opposite of what it was in X-Wing Alliance.
You need to link to those hardpoint charts
I just main an interceptor with the multilock missiles and the cluster missile
Trash build
TIE Bombers with rotary cannons are the bane of my existence. And is it just me or could the A-Wong use a buff? It’s real squishy, only had two lasers (with the rapid fire clip being shorter in range and capacity), and basically sees its speed/acceleration/maneuverability strengths knocked down to fighter levels if you take any of the engine mods.
Hey team. I was wondering, for those on EcksToo who use a HOTAS, what are your Pitch/Roll/Yaw sensitivities and deadzone percentages set to? I have been meddling with my settings constantly trying to find a sweet spot but am having no luck. Thanks for any info!
Same! I love my HOTAS setup, but can’t seem to find the sweet spot with sensitivity etc.
My deadzones are all under 5%, and my sensitivity is at 55.
@@EcksToo Thank you for the reply! I'll be sure to try it out!
Your videos really need to reflect what exactly you're talking about...Your points will be MUCH clearer to the audience if you actually show what you're describing. Please do this for your future videos.
Part of me believes the reason for the Y-wing's lack of laser fire power is the Ion Turret can make up the difference.
But the Ion Turret behaves strangely. In Battlefront 2 is was borderline over powered and you always could tell when it was working. In Squadrons, you can barely tell when it's working, and your targeting seems to have no influence on what it target.
It it always shoot at what I'm targeting, it would be an amazing perk of the Y-wing, but as it stands, it doesn't do that.
The Automatic Ion Cannon auxiliary weapon targets enemies that are attacking you. It's meant to be defensive.
I hate AI farmers and TIE bombers stopping right next to subsystems and destroying them in seconds. Also, bombers have to much health
The thing I dislike the most is pumping enemies full of lasers and them not dying. Then I get shot down and during the kill cam it looks like I took only a handful of shots. Not sure what that's all about.
The AI farming exploit needs to be fixed BAD. I get that points for AI kills is a part of the strategy, but to be able to simply stay on the offensive all game long HAS to be an unintended gameplay mechanic. It’s absolutely heart breaking when you’re on the receiving end of it.
Not a tactic but I hate how tanky tie bombers are, I just feel like they always get away because my full magazine can't finish them.
Star Wars squadeez
CHARLIE I NEED A HEAL! Also my pet peeve is not having time to actually play Squadrons.
I can’t figure out how to hunt as a intersepter, I’m lucky to get a kill in fleet battles, any tips or load out ideas
Engine upgrade that boosts acceleration is a good one for Interceptors, allowing you to keep in step with evasive maneuvers in response to your attacks. Cluster missiles are pretty good, too. Fire 1 to empty their countermeasure, then fire the other 4.
Also, ALWAYS switch system power to weapons when able to make more than a snapshot attack. When not shooting, power to engines. This will keep you evasive, boost charged for quick disengagement. Hit and run tactics ftw
Ty so much
The rotary cannon has killed me in seconds on so many occasions that it is just straight up annoying
Another great tip is to work on your aim, I see too many people in fleet battles who can't aim worth a shit, because they rushed to that mode instead honing their skills
What's the brim?
1. More tip read stats .
Is there going to be content updates? Or is squadron going to be done now?
I'm sure they will be. I think with EAs track record they had to be extra careful with the wording, Was track recors also has me nervous they could make this P2W overnight
Good stuff! How about a vidoe on the different weapons? I am still debating myself on say standard vs burst on the fighters. On how many pips/overcharge to have in the different guns etc.
I think I'm talking for everyone when I say, mines are the most hated item. Mines need a nerf to damage, movement speed and recharge speed. One mine will destroy a tie interceptor no problem and the movement speed is almost instant. It travels faster then a missile... Sometimes you can counter it with countermeasures but 9 out of 10 times it's too fast. For a second choice, the game feels slow at times. Either increase base movement speed or slow boost degeneration.
I'm terrible at this game but it's great
"flying thru the Brim" Can you elaborate on this. The heck is a Brim? :D
I had the same thing :). I believe he means the narrow ridge on the side of the ISD between the top and the bottom. I guess none of the turrets (at the top of bottom) will be able to hit you
So far what bothers me is the defensive team all hanging back by the cruisers and farming the ai attackers. If you go in there as a player you get shredded by the capital ships guns. Then these crappy pilots all go to bombers in the attack phase doing massive damage before you can stop all of them.
My other issue is getting into a squad with no support pilots. Ohhh people take the support ship but use it as a fighter.
can anyone please confirm if their controller vibration works on the steam version of sw squadrons. mine is not working even though i have the option enabled
Mine works fine. I'm using a wired off brand xbox 360 controller.
@@garymcgaughey1544 thanks for the reply, must be something wrong with the vibration in my Xbox controller then
One thing I found frustrating is that sometimes it seems like Tie Fighters are very hard to kill when I'm playing as the rebels. When I play the A-Wing, I use the rapid fire canons, which overall seem to work very well for me. Yesterday however, I fired a long volley on a Tie Fighter, hitting almost every shot, and their health went from 55 (or whatever) to like 40/45. I realise this game is heavily skill based, so I won't say it has/had nothing to do with my skills or lack thereof, but still, it's very frustrating when it takes ages to kill someone and then they tear you up in mere seconds.
I'm confused by your comment. Is your story's point to say that you're upset that your short range gun doesn't do as much damage at long range?
@@Reepecheep No, he was well within range, quite close in fact. Anyway, I have a lot to learn still, so I won’t say it’s just balancing issues.
@@CaseyWilliams_121 So you were close range (despite saying 'long volley' before), hit what I assume was a full clip of shots [unless you mean something else by volley, totally possible - almost all hit you claim) and he took 15 dmg? I think you're just missing and thinking you're hitting.
To be clear, there are obvious balance concerns in this game, but your story seems pretty outlandish.
@@Reepecheep Long as in I pulled the trigger for a long time. I don’t remember how much (or how little) damage I did exactly, but it felt out of balance with how many shots I landed.
@@CaseyWilliams_121 Oh I see. You may be experiencing the visual difference in the fact that the hulls are given in % (as in out of 100) so after you've broken the shields on a rebel ship, the hull points seem to drain super fast (because that number doesn't include their shields), while the empire ships are ALL hull, so their number seems to drain much slower because their total health pool is compacted into that 'out of 100' hull number.
As I said before, you are 100% right that there are balance concerns, so don't take this as trying to minimize those problems.
Can ps5 have a joistick and throster and vr set for star wars squadrent?
PS4 can use only T.Flight Hotas 4 (no other models) and PSVR. The same should work with PS5. T.Flight Hotas X is almost the same but only works with PS3. If you're very unlucky, then Sony will force everyone to buy a new T.Flight Hotas 5 which is identical but now "PS5 compatible". It sounds like Squadrons will only work in PS4 compatibility mode though, so it should be fine with PS4 peripherals.
what is "The brim" of the ISD?
if you look at the sides of the ISD's triangle there is a tiny overhand either side making a trench on both sides. If you are in a small enough craft you can trench run these channels.
Most likely scenario is 50% of people try it in an x-wing and crash when the wing hooks.
Interceptor squad, check in
Wassup fam, we outchea
@@lemotek this is Silver Leader
Boomer 1. Checking in..... I can prove my boomer cred by talking about playing the original tie fighter game, but at this point do you really need to hear another "back in my day" story?
Most hated strat: bombers with rotary canon.... absolutely the most annoying thing to fight ever
A utility support wouldn’t have resupply that’s just a support
I hate it when I try to join a game and the force disconnects me. Instant lose
AI farming, just let me attack objectives, get contested by enemy players and fall back without getting ripped a new one because 3 of them are taking down 30 AI per minute.
Does anyone else just have no idea who is who in these videos or which one is eckharts ladder?
They literally tell you. This was Charlie for example. You'll get to tell them apart after a few vids ;)
@@gnudj2918 lol thank you I felt regret once I heard his name at the end of the video but decided to keep the comment just for kicks
Just realized there is no B-Wing. What the hell?
Most hated? Guided rotary cannons need a nerf.
Tie bomber is so good with rotary cannon and golithe missle
AI farming is the most frustrating technique to fight against
Seeker mines....
I did not get anywhere near them and they still kill me 😠
if you hear beeping, boost out, its not 100% but saved me a few times. i actually boost out of all attack runs on bombers and interceptors now because of this
turn on the area effect view in the menu. you'll see them as red circles.
Prioritize shooting the center of the red circle whenever you see them appear. It takes a few minutes for them to arm and you can take them out and get back to your target if you are fast / good shot. (Dogfighting will help with aim if you are not)
2nd you can countermeasure them as long as you don't hit them head on.
all ships max speed needs to be increased by 100% or 50%, its too slow right now, especially for standards ships
A wings would be too fast especially if you were to try to drift the boost would make you overshoot way too much
Worst part of the game is the lack of inertia. It is way too easy to start and stop your fighter on a dime, making going full stop and even playing as a turret in space way too viable.
That depends on the ship you are playing, the support ships and bombers both take a lot longer to slow down, so yes it is in game you are probably playing something that isnt as affected
I hate AI farming. Anything related
I don't think you even know what "AI farming bug" even means
The ai farm is the worst thing
Is there anything wrong with his voice?
first!
Use video that relates to what you are saying. Even black screen would be better. This is just confusing, distracting and nonsensical.
Im straight fed up with the auto aim assisted weapons. This game has a high skill ceiling, learn how to shoot instead of relying on aim assist
