Hey, if you play as a fighter/bomber, you can equip the unstable engine and combine it with the reinforced hull, you can make an attack run really close to the ship, and you will do extra damage when you die AND the damage from the attack run.
Right, but dying as a player causes a considerable drop in morale. Unless someone on your team is focusing on taking out ai ships/players to gain morale, you'll end up causing your team to have to go on the defensive.
I mean he literally did that in an interceptor several times. I like to wait for the shields to be taken out, then focus a subsystem while moving in, then break away, and not stay right up against the hull. As a fighter or interceptor with speed, you have a good chance of staying alive for another pass.
The better way to phrase it is that there isn't some long tree of pre-requisites to unlock something. You'll still have to play over time to accrue the "xp", but you can unlock in whatever order you prefer.
I love the beam weapon because it's essentially an "I win" button whenever somebody decides to square off with you and go ham with their lasers. you just charge that thing up while they're coming straight at you and blow them out of the sky in 1 and 1/2 seconds.
Assault shield for the same reason. I jousted 3 ships back to back for a triple kill because their bomber was first and he got the assault shield magic
The squint spiral loop of doom works well too. Especially if you can boost drift into the death spin! For the uninitiated this is a squint (TI) coming to a complete stop the spinning in a circle as fast as it can firing lasers as fast as they can cycle
@Trey Stephens I always thought he was happy beyond belief. Happy that the war was finally over, but happy for those that sacrificed themselves for the cause, for their deaths were not in vain.
Yup, my bombers I'm running Rotary, Multi-locks, and either Beam or Proton Bomb. Being able to take out four AI ships with zero effort on your way to the fight does wonders for morale.
@@Bobberation Yeah, I run the multi-lock when I want to be able to deal with fighters. With AI fighters, you can pretty much fire-and-forget. And with players, it's at least another thing for them to deal with. And they can deal a decent amount of additional damage to frigate turrets.
Multi lock is great, you boost the morale, and get a few easy points. If you're taking on a capital ship, multi lock will quickly get rid of 3 or 4 turrets, which will make easier attack runs, and more points.
Great video! I have been seeing this in live streams and wondering about specifics on maneuvers and loadouts to execute properly. I would love to see a video in detail on support!
It should be me mentioned targeting the weak points in the hull which do tons of hull damage. These are the little gas / electrical holes that pop up after a sub system is destroyed. Each one will do about 1/6 hull damage over and can usually be popped in a few laser blasts.
I use the TIE Interceptor to do Strafing Runs against MC75 Systems. Either from the sides for Shields, or pretty much any angle for the Power System and Targeting System. The idea with this strategy is to try and stay alive. You never want to go in at below max speed, or, at the very least, have a good amount of boost power available. You ideally want Standard Laser Cannons combined with Rockets to increase sustained DPS. Basically, you go back and forth from Port to Starboard (and back again). You want to come in at an off-angle while somewhat randomizing your path (to avoid fire) and then turn towards the target when close to 1000m. You target the appropriate shield generator with each pass and within 4 passes they're both gone. You can do ~2 passes with 1 load of rockets. After that you must find a resupply, or continue with laser cannons only. For this strategy to work, the enemy's shields do need to be down. I tend to prefer to simply help burn down the shield, return for a resupply, and head back to start taking down subsystems. These rockets also work well against players. They can't counter these, and they make you a deadly Jousting opponent, out-DPSing them outright. They're effective against X-Wings and Y-Wings at Medium-ish ranges (500m or less). Against A-Wings they can work but you need to be more deliberate with your aim, or be very close. Either way, you combine Rockets with a Barrage of Laser fire and most pilots just can't respond to that.
Yes, staying on the move is always important for the Empire especially. It's why I usually favor the engines that give you boost, even when you aren't sending power to the engines. Having some boost most of the time is usually better than having a lot of boost some of the time.
My load out is the bombing laser, and the proton torpedo. With rotary gun. The laser is good against raiders after you hit them with the torpedo. You can also run the torpedo, and proton bombs. Lots of damage on run. If your running support, use the ion torpedo, you will take out shields of capital shields.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with everything mentioned here. The targeting wheel is very useful for both capital ship runs and if you're playing support. I would add, that if you're consistently having trouble getting close enough for actual bombing runs, you can opt for torpedoes instead. They do somewhat less damage, but you can use them from further away and thus have a better chance of surviving the run. Getting some damage from a distance is very preferable to getting no damage, because you got blown out of the sky before you made it to the target. This is more an issue for the flagships than the frigates. And if you're having trouble coordinating or just want to try to make a strike on your own, take advantage of the battlefield. A lot of maps can give you a lot of cover on the approach to the actual flagship and minimize the amount of time you'll get blasted. Going high or low can also get you past the enemy fighters, as many players can get preoccupied duking it out in the middle.
Tie bomber with the fast recharge boost engine and continually shunt power over to lasers when engine is fully charged to essentially have maxed overcharged laser cannons with a quick recharging engine at all times.
the hull that gives you 30% increase, rotary canon, guided shield penetrating missile that does 2k damage, and the laser cannon (infinitite ammo and 3k ish damage) is a great loadout. Works for the corvettes and larger ships very well. I like that I can launch the missile at 600m or so and it'll likely pierce the shields and start doing damage on the subsystem im aiming for. I start with shields as once they're gone you don't waste time bringing them back online.
so in squadrons (which im 90% sure is cannon) we clearly see the capital sips with shields on that allows for star fighters to pass through either direction, allows turbolaser fire to exit the shield, and prevents enemy fire from hitting the ship. I'm fine with the answer being because it is star wars, but is there any explanation from cannon or legends that talks about how shields are able to allow something in and not others? PS: I understand the difference between a ray shield and a particle shield and I understand that the combination is a deflector shield
The rockets are definitely the best for capital ship runs! Full engines to get close, then full weapons and hold fire while dumping all your rockets at point-blank range. Guaranteed subsystem kill every time.
What about the Stand Off anti capital loadout? Proton Torpedo, Composite Beam, Ion Cannon, stay within 750 - 1000 meters, strip shields with Ion cannon, and blast the subsystems with your ordnance. Bombers don't get an Ion Torpedo but Fighters do.... so maybe a fighter with both types of torpedoes have better range and can keep a regular laser cannon for anti fighter and constant damage A single torpedo deals about the damage of 3.5 bombs, and you have 5 torpedo shots vs 5 proton bombs or 10 ion bombs. You just have to wait 10s between shots but with the big range advantage you can use better cover.
Hey eck 2 quick questions 1 what paths do you normally take to avoid those pesky tractor beams on the two capital ships and 2 what joystick, throttle and all that setup do you have and what do you recommend on a budget
I main Support, specifically the TIE Reaper. For my preferred playstyle, Ion Cannons are a must for my ship. Loadout will change by situation (what ships on my team is what determines my loadout mostly). Supports have minimal effect on the objective when crippling a Capital Ship. Depending on whether you prefer traditional laser cannons or my suggested ion cannons determines what you could focus on when you're in down time (which shouldn't be often; someone nearly always needs help with something). With regular cannons, focus on the turbo lasers of the capital ship and easy access systems to damage on the Capital Ship, then quickly return focus to supporting your team whenever applicable. If you prefer ion, you're cannons are practically useless against the Capital Ship once it's shields are down. Generally open fire anywhere on the Capital Ship to weaken the shields. Otherwise, focus strictly on supporting your team and crippling the enemy team by shutting their ships down. If you want to be incredibly oppressive to enemies, equip the tractor beam as well. I feel it's a bit overkill and is more effective if you prefer classic cannons. You can never go wrong with equipping deployable resupply drones and tactical shields (TIEs need the additional protection when they're in a pinch).
getting under the shield to do a point-blank proton bombing run is literally how I've been carrying my otherwise helpless teams in squadrons. No offense to noobies, there ultimately is a learning curve steeper than that one mountain they sent those AT-TEs up in the clone wars...
Last Fleet Battle I played I went Bomber all the way, starting with my mixed loadout (Rotary Cannon, Goliath Missile and Beam Cannon) and went 23/3/3 and 53k capital ship damage, though usually I barely had time to go on the offensive as my team went in and died in droves, leaving me to have to take out some of the people guarding the ships (else I'd not have time to shoot my beam and then get out...). We lost, of course.. Because we lost our morale barely a minute after we got the initiative... Though one thing I did notice was that our team didn't hunt any AI ships whilst the other team did a lot... So I'm wondering if that was (at least in part) what we did wrong? Admittedly wouldnt matter much when people die like flies...
I can't wait until the ranked rating gets fixed. It only goes down and gets stuck at 0. Once I can actually get into some competitive matches where people work together, this is gonna be a blast.
Frankly, watching people just fly up to and then hover directly in front of a subsystem to just sit there shooting... it seems kinda bad. People rushing in to just sit there feels sorta bad. I really don't think that should be encouraged. I'm not sure how they could change it, but it's odd to me.
Yeah the whole hover mechanic just looks kinda weird during combat. I'm glad people are enjoying the game, but the ww2 style dogfighting seen in the films isn't fully there in gameplay. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but for me it doesn't feel great to look at/play. I'm probably biased because I played a lot of ace combat which features dogfighting more similar to the the way the films look imo (and I've also had a tonne of control bugs and other bugs that others have had too) Idk if I'm making sense and this is only my opinion, if people disagree all power to them, I really wish I felt more positively about the game because I want to love it. Sorry for the wall of text.
The LouseGrouse I’m with ya. I understand the ability to full on stop, it’s space. But the ways it been used definitely takes ya out of it. Thankfully I’ve managed some fun counters to people abusing it. Mines near capital ships, hanging back and looking for people at a full stop, and tagging those players for the team too. Usually helps us win and discouraged them haha
It is effective, but I can see how some would find it unappealing. If you want to steer clear of it, torpedo loadouts can be effective. They still do plenty of damage and can be done from further out, letting you stay on the move.
You'd think the Y-Wings and Tie Bombers were meant for Surviveability and Firepower to live long enough to drop their payloads and deal devastating damage at the cost of being slow. But their health and/or shielding don't seem much stronger than an X-Wing's
Hey, Eck. This might not be worth it, but would you consider doing a video on a recommended path for unlocking components? Assuming you haven't done one already that I just missed.
Bombers are a bit OP. They can take the most damage, and have bombs that do a ton of damage. If that was all, it would be fine. But the rotary cannon and the powerful laser on top of that is a bit much. In fact, a lot of people see no need to use bombs. Rotary cannon and laser is all you need.
I don't recommend ecks kamikaze strategy here of getting under the shield and blasting until you die. Ole x wing series vets know how to attack capital ships. There is a sweet spot behind them where the guns can't reach you. Park here and blast away! Just watch for fighters. If you want to hit n run....use proton torpedos! These can fire away from gun range and lock on to the target. If your a skilled bomber pilot use proton torpedos at a distance then proton bombs at close range. Best of both worlds here! To deal with fighters...don't underestimate the heavy rotary cannon for the y wing! That is a beast!
Hi ecktoo I just wanted to say that you make a great content and it was fun to play against you the other night during xpgamers stream you actually use some of the footage from that fight in the beginning of your video I noticed anyway I wanted to ask a question what kind of water would you recommend for an interceptor
I just found out that the MC75 and ISD are much closer to the same length on squadrons than canon. I used an x wing at max speed and flew across the length of both ships and timed from bow to stern and it was 9 seconds for MC75 and 9.5 seconds for ISD suggesting they are almost the same length in this game
So what is your prediction on long time playability by now? Do you see yourself hanging in there for a while because of the nice gameplay mechanics and the strategic component or do you think it might wear off rather quickly. (And no matter what Ian says, I personally don’t think Motive is finished with this game, whatsoever. I see DLCs incoming some time in the future, and I would love that to happen.)
he's not responding to you but this is how I see it. Games take years or more to make. If they let this game die that would be a tremendous waste of money and resources on EA's part. Another thing, EA's money hungriness might be incredibly lucky in this case because I'm SURE they want to ride the wave of squadrons. I would gladly pay for dlc map packs and stuff like that personally.
@@theasherroseman Yes, that’s how I see it, too. I’m allergic to micro transactions, but if Motive sticks to their game, they might offer “honest” expansion packs with new single player or multiplayer co-operation campaigns and new maps somewhere down the line. In tradition to the old X-Wing and TIE-Fighter games maybe also new ships, although that would be difficult, because of balancing issues in dogfight and fleet battles mode. But so far I’m just happy that my dream came true and we have a new SW-flight sim at our hands. Didn’t have the chance to play it yet, but I’m sure the game will keep me busy for quite a while even without any add-ons.
I was looking for this video 4 days ago ;P.. had a game where the Cap ship was shot to hell, charred black with shots, all subsystems gone; but would not blow up..
You mention tractor beams, but don't really go into it. The story mode taught me to boost away to break, but it also said you can aim for arrays. What are these arrays? Are they special turrets? Tractor beams are my biggest issue when going for flagships.
They look like little satellites attached to the hull of the capital ship, and they glow with the same blue light. It's really pointless to target them unless you already happen to be looking at them, because stationary turning is so slow. Just shunt to engines and gun it, or just die if you are a slow shield ship lol
Used Eck's interceptor strategy to rush a capital ships subsystem and lay a barrage of fire adapted to a Tie fighter with reinforced hull and *mwah* knocked out 3 subsystems in 2 different runs to secure a win.
I have a love hate relationship with this game. Dogfight games seem... one sided very often. I always lose but I totally understand its just that I need to get better. Its still extremely frustrating Fleet battles is nothing short of amazing
Need fighter support if ur a bomber to keep enemy fighters off of you. Hard to get near them if there are no team fighters keeping the enemy fighters busy
I'd say that the fighters are too powerful against starfighter weapons. Against capital ships, it make sense that they get destroy ed easily but a starfighter which has diverted it's power to weapons, an unshielded ship should be destroyed 2-3 hits. Starfighters also have hotboxes that are too big. It should be harder to hit a ship but it should take fewer hits to defeat them. I get balancing is important, but you don't have to remove realism.
F4 Viper4314 that is me. I took the top spot on my team for eliminations. The game we played against each other was such a fun game for me, even though my team lost. Good game and hopefully I'm able to play against you all again.
Is it just me or does everyone just max out engines and leave it there. I feel like sitting still blasting a hull would be a good time to get that extra damage from overcharged weapons.
Just so you know, this “stopping and unloading” on subsystems is probably the worst advice you could give new players because it teaches them bad habits.
And he forgot to mention it really only works on the MC75. It is a great strategy to quickly get rid of the MC75 shields because it is a massive blindspot for that ships turrets. The ISD turrets don't have any blind spots, at least not large ones, so it doesn't work on them.
Just when you think you have seen the most exposed ship elements in Star Wars, you see that idiotic Mon Cal cruiser from Rogue One. They should have let that one fade into oblivion.
Hey Eck!, I love ur videos and I love your Squadrons content especially... I could go on for a long time talking about squadrons but I don't want this to be a really long comment. At the time of making this comment, I have the game and have had it for like a few days? The thing is, that i cant really play it now... Yesterday my mom didn't wake me up in time for school... At the end of the day my mom came in my room with a phone call from the principle... She quickly somehow got me blamed for the incident of me not being on my computer for school in time and quickly hung up on the principal. You might think that she isnt a very good mom but let me explain... She has a mental disease that means she is Bipolar, A bipolar person has mood swings.(That means that she gets really really angry from time to time and does bad things. This happens about every two weeks.) When she stormed my room I was playing with a streamer and talking to my friend on discord. Im not going to go into what she said, but she broke my 85 dollar elite controller I saved up for to buy myself for two years. After that she called my dad to come pick me up, and yes, my parents are divorced. When my dad came to pick me up she called me stupid on my way out and the same for my dad. Before we could even get out the driveway my mom called my dad saying to never bring me back because of how stupid I supposively am. Now I am at my aunts house for now so I can use the internet for my schooling. I am 13 and I don't think anyone should have to experience what I do. If you see this comment eck, I just want to let you know... Keep up the good work.
I must be dumb as shit. I die instantly when I go near the flagship. Apparently the individual parts of the flagship are targetable. Doesn't look that way to me. I try shooting the ship and just get called stupid because it's already destroyed.
Hey, if you play as a fighter/bomber, you can equip the unstable engine and combine it with the reinforced hull, you can make an attack run really close to the ship, and you will do extra damage when you die AND the damage from the attack run.

I'm probably biased because I played a lot of ace combat which features dogfighting more similar to the the way the films look imo (and I've also had a tonne of control bugs and other bugs that others have had too)
Idk if I'm making sense and this is only my opinion, if people disagree all power to them, I really wish I felt more positively about the game because I want to love it.
You could discourage it by killing them while they're an easy target.
I don't think the ships should be able to stop.
To whoever's reading this have a fantastic day!
Thank you, i needed that.
No U
Thanks
u 2
And I love you, random citizen.
I think the best loadout for bomber is proton bombs or ion bombs with the beam canon
Hi ecktoo I just wanted to say that you make a great content and it was fun to play against you the other night during xpgamers stream you actually use some of the footage from that fight in the beginning of your video I noticed anyway I wanted to ask a question what kind of water would you recommend for an interceptor
The video is great, the dog ending is even better lmbo
I know this will never happen, But I really want to see a conquest style game mode. Where there are massive fleets with multiple capitol ships.
Just a thought as I’m not a squadrons player, how viable is going full ion weaponry? Excluding countermeasures
Im debating getting either a vr or a hotas, what do you reccomend?
Used Eck's interceptor strategy to rush a capital ships subsystem and lay a barrage of fire adapted to a Tie fighter with reinforced hull and *mwah* knocked out 3 subsystems in 2 different runs to secure a win.
Still surprised eck uses the royal guard red instead of the 181st
Tie Reaper done stole my heart it did.
it ding dong didly made my eyes waaater
I love the dumb fire missiles I use the Goliath missiles on my bombers
I have a love hate relationship with this game. Dogfight games seem... one sided very often. I always lose but I totally understand its just that I need to get better. Its still extremely frustrating
Fleet battles is nothing short of amazing
On defense the best strat is to sit inside the shield near the nose as a bomber and pretend you're a turret.
I always just went along the corvette
How do you do the advanced power shunt?
Did Charlie give you the heal?
Need fighter support if ur a bomber to keep enemy fighters off of you. Hard to get near them if there are no team fighters keeping the enemy fighters busy
How do you get additional loadouts like at 5:43?
I think just by leveling up.
Can someone please answer this. Do kamikazie tactics work??!!?
If your teammates can get enough kills to keep morale up, then hell yeah.
Ben McKenna Yes, but do they actually do damage to capital ships and frigates?
Dunky They don’t work
Alex Day darn, I’ve wasted so many last breathes then lol
yes only if you have the unstable engine
Do you ever run into the problem of shooting your own missiles when spamming all weapons?
Just do the missiles last.
My game only let's me save two loadouts for each ship. How do I get more loadout slots?
a DLC with some new content (game modes and ships) would be amazing..
But how do you take out the tractor beam?
Please tell EA to fix the bug in mission 9. Infinite load after the cinematic.
Does anyone know if we’ll get massive space battles in LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga?
Is there a weapon tho wich can damage under the shields from distance.
Nope. Gotta take out the shields or fly under them. Otherwise the ships would go down too fastm
The targeting wheel is god awful, I need to get a hotas
I like to fly near the hull on cruisers and destroy all the turrets on the side im on so i can just keep attacking with rockets or lasers
Honestly I think against good teams dying while trying to take out a sub system is NOT a good idea. A player death can shift the momentum very quickly
How did you get so many different loadout slots per ship? I only have 2 on my game, and dont see an obvious way to create a new one.
you have to level up, slot 3 is in lvl 15 and I think that loadout slot 4 is lvl 20
Okay, strat is cheese with bombers. Got it.
In this game exist the matchmaking? Becouse i am always mvp but i have 0.20 w/l
Same problem lol
F4 Viper4314 that is me. I took the top spot on my team for eliminations. The game we played against each other was such a fun game for me, even though my team lost. Good game and hopefully I'm able to play against you all again.
U soooooo gonna beat up bomb squad this weekend
easily
Agent Smith plays Squadrons!
Is it just me or does everyone just max out engines and leave it there. I feel like sitting still blasting a hull would be a good time to get that extra damage from overcharged weapons.
where is the indicator that your over a target with a bomber?
Just so you know, this “stopping and unloading” on subsystems is probably the worst advice you could give new players because it teaches them bad habits.
And he forgot to mention it really only works on the MC75. It is a great strategy to quickly get rid of the MC75 shields because it is a massive blindspot for that ships turrets. The ISD turrets don't have any blind spots, at least not large ones, so it doesn't work on them.
It's lame too. Seeing all these bozos in games stopping at ships and sitting there.
Just when you think you have seen the most exposed ship elements in Star Wars, you see that idiotic Mon Cal cruiser from Rogue One. They should have let that one fade into oblivion.
Star Destroyer bridge wants to know your location.
I've only seen the empire win 2 rounds.. ever
Also, great video
Sounds like a tough situation man, I hope everything works out for you and your family. Sorry to hear that your mom is struggling.
Glad you can find some time to enjoy yourself in what sounds like a hard family situation. You sound like a wise kid. Wish you all the best
I wish you and your family the best. Hope it gets better for all of you
Hope things get better for you mate
I'm about that unstable engine *ahem* "life".
Is it just me or is the MC75 way harder to destroy than the Star Destroyer?
Someone's username is "TearsOfAutism"
notice that. i just shook my head
Life is hard
I love the B-Wing with its rotary canon, it is amazing both for attacking capital ships, but also amazing at taking down enemy fighters.
The B-Wing isn’t in the game
This man living in the future
Lol, I meant the Y-Wing xD I thought bomber, then B, forgetting it was Y.
Kaleb Potts I hope so
Cloud/Swarm
I must be dumb as shit. I die instantly when I go near the flagship. Apparently the individual parts of the flagship are targetable. Doesn't look that way to me.
I try shooting the ship and just get called stupid because it's already destroyed.
What about support
I just got this game for Christmas, does anyone here still play?
I wish u could play as capital ships
Is it just me or is MC75 a lot worse then the Star destroyer
Tl;dr play as the bomber
Hi
hi :)
