Welcome to the start of the DLC!!!!!! Isn't it exciting?? At the time of posting I'm totally done with the DLC, just be careful to not spoil other people in the comments by putting "SPOILER" and some line breaks ahead of stuff that the episodes haven't reached yet. :face-red-heart-shape: The intro concept came to me from vaguely remembering a science project I did in high school, so a long time ago for me. Hahaha! Happy it wasn't a fever dream and that you can actually make fire green! It was really fun shooting and I wanted to make it distinctly different from the first series despite both of them being "Outer Wilds" because the base game and DLC felt fairly different to me and also when comparing them I wanted it to feel like comparing apples and oranges. That said, I am super proud of the improvements I made on the tech side of shooting this one. ::) I think figuring out the satellite gave me a lot of undue confidence for the rest of the DLC, which I found to be much harder than the base game! But also ugh... 😭 the end. On another note, that I'll make a big channel post about in the near future, but wanted to announce here: I GOT APPROVED AS A RUclips PARTNER!!! YAY!!!! I can't believe it happened so quickly, thanks y'all. Money made on the channel will help me fund my need to make very STRANGE intros (get it) in the future for future series. :) Ads will be on before and after videos but I don't have the heart to turn on mid-rolls because I hate them. I've also set up channel memberships that include getting your name in the credit rolls of the final episode of each let's play series, voting for what game I play next for every other game, annnd priority replies. So I feel like I was very productive the last few days! Next step is making some neat badges. You can join here! ruclips.net/channel/UCz638ExhOmZzTgpK7GF2xcwjoin Enjoy the DLC!
"Did they die, like the Nomai? Gosh This is so stereotypical of everybody in this universe." GIRL. THEY'RE ALREDAY DEAD THERE WAS NO NEED TO MURDER THEM.
There's a common joke in the OW community that the scariest part of the DLC is that warning message at the beginning. It puts you more on edge than anything the game could possibly throw at you.
Starting off by getting your suit to go to the museum is absolutely "gamer moves." You wouldn't believe the number of times I've seen people walk up the path on their nubby legs. 10 outta 10.
It being specific to what's in Echoes of the Eye does that, while they continue to expect everyone to handle the base game content fine without the option. Seeing the message is like being told "huh, you thought that stuff was scary, you ain't seen nothing yet, wait until you see what's coming, this time we're trying"
That singular message had me do research to make sure I could handle it because while the anglerfish were certainly a bit scary, I really was not sure what to expect but when I found out it wasn't really that bad I left the option alone. Still I ended up having to look some stuff up towards the end to not die of anxiety.
Hahaa, being at just the right angle by chance when you first look from the satellite towards the Sun and seeing the eclipse rather than working it out from the picture angle first is very impressive luck! That intro to the Stranger with the dark hut, the drop, looking down, looking up, taking it all in, second-best moment in the entire game behind finishing the base game the first time.
I cannot BELIEVE how often you seem to stumble accidentally on such important stuff, and then look over things like the picture of Gabbro! It took me ages to figure out the solution because I was convinced our spacetime buddy was the anomaly whoops
Just keep in mind, the editing makes these things seem to happen much faster/often than they actually do. 😆 So don’t be hard on yourself and your playthrough!
"Soma is one of my favourite games" I don't need to see/hear anymore. Video instantly liked. Soma's so great, but I do think I have to put Outer Wilds above it, for myself, as my favourite game. This has been a wonderful playthrough and I can't wait to see your take on Echoes of the Eye
2:50 after they released the dlc, they added to the base game the under construction sign, before that it was just an empty wall. Your gameplay is great, keep up the good work! :)
That said, the DLC storyline was conceived prior to the games release. They just had to cut it from the base game because of budget/time constraints. So they knew how the DLC ties into the overarching story, which is probably why it fits in so perfectly and just complements the base game so beautifully.
*SPOILER ALLERT* * * * * * * * * I wasn't expecting to hear that music at around 20:07 during the wait for the correct angle near the deep space satellite and having completed this masterpiece of a game and a DLC, I must say it gave me crazy goosebumps. Love the intros and the way you edit your videos
Thank you for putting a spoiler warning!!! Yes I really loved making that edit in particular, I found the waiting times in the game to be reflective in a way and that music felt perfect because of both how its presence in the DLC itself and it just fit the moment *so well*
Hahahaha!!! The dream is to get there one day! But for now I'll enjoy making weird intros and fun edits with a bit less pressure than I imagine a 188k channel would have 😆
"What if instead of a 22-minute loop, we somehow go to three days before, and then we can save everybody" There's actually a pretty fun story mod for the game called Evacuation that follows that premise!
A fun fact pertaining to what you said at 3:00 in case you didn't learn it already: Yes! The DLC was planned from the beginning because originally, it was actually just gonna be another planet in the base solar system; but due to time constraints, it was saved for a DLC and a slightly different direction was taken with it (In addition, the inclusion of it was also part of a backer goal)
Becca you're gonna love this DLC, although the puzzles were more difficult for me tbh. The way you were perfectly placed for the time the dam broke is so funny to me, the first time I saw the dam break i just got thrown against a rock by the water LMAO, It gave me the same anxiety watching it all break down as the first time I saw the supernova.
"The Silenced Cartographer" is an achievement for breaking the Deep Space Satellite (by crashing into it). The name is a reference to the Halo level The Silent Cartographer.
The warning you get for Echoes of the Eye is the scariest thing about the dlc. That warning amplified my freak out factor and made me go super slow just waiting for the horror to kick in. Like, the dlc is so scary it needed a warning!?!
So excited for the DLC !! I've watched your let's plays as it was coming out but never commented but I have to say I love how creative the intros always are and how invested you're in the story !! Can't wait to see what's to come :)
Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed watching your main playthrough. You're extremely entertaining, and it's awesome to see a person care enough to make cool intros like you do. 🤩
I am legit HYPE for this playthrough. Also the image in my head at @18:55 of "Becca the Hearthian" shoving their face into the picture and saying: "THIS! YOOOU! You are our CHILD!" had me laughing hard. Wish I could draw it.
At some points during your main playthrough i heard a song that you only hear at the end. It was edited in in some of the fast forward parts when you were figuring stuff out. From that alone, i could tell you beat the game before letting us see it on RUclips. The said im still glad i got to see your reaction to the game. It was beautiful. When you did make it to the last area, you did actually cut it that close. Watching i was like oh here it comes she's gonna need one more loop. I was on the edge of my seat as you corrected your mistake and i heard the rush.
hell yesss so excited to watch your journey! its really cool that you upload these after playing; people always spoil stuff and with this game in particular its super important to go in blind, as you probably know by now

what are the odds, i just finished the supercut and wanted to check if you had started uploading the dlc yet but didnt see it in the suggested videos and assumed that meant you didnt. turns out you did but it was while i was watching the video and after the suggested list was already picked. what a great surprise!
Super exciting to hear you have played and enjoyed Soma. When you said in a previous video that you liked existential games, that was the first game that came to mind. Hey congratulations! ^.^
Congrats! Love to see the effort and passion you are putting into your channel. Just don't burn yourself out. :)
Glad the channel is quickly taking off, you deserve it! After watching your first episode, I was shocked this was a new thing.
When I played the DLC, that "reduced frights" warning at the start made me super paranoid for like 5 hours before I actually got to the scary part LOL
@benb90 Omgosh thank you so much for the support! 😭 I'll be sure to build in downtime to the creation schedule to hopefully avoid burnout. 🧘🏻♀️
"Did they die, like the Nomai? Gosh This is so stereotypical of everybody in this universe."

"Omg it's so cute!" might be the funniest reaction I've ever heard to seeing the inside of the Stranger for the first time XD
Intro starting with the green flame 🤌... you know this is going to be a good series.
playing space air hockey with gabbros tape next to the deep space satellite is the real gamer move, 10/10.
Real. The Reduced Frights message is honestly intimidating on its own.
It being specific to what's in Echoes of the Eye does that, while they continue to expect everyone to handle the base game content fine without the option. Seeing the message is like being told "huh, you thought that stuff was scary, you ain't seen nothing yet, wait until you see what's coming, this time we're trying"

yep
Only adorable happy fun fun times abound with these cute light people. Nothing traumatic or scary.

My fave Becca luck moment ™ was the jump to the forge, then up to the hanging city. I tried that exact thing many times myself but didn't get it.
That's the Beccabytes way, solving puzzles in unexpected ways
That cut with the geyser is impeccable!
Came here to say that
Is this your first channel? Your videos are so high quality it’s crazy that this is a new channel!
