      never understood why so many people expect the autopilot to be like an AI fancy fly-the-optimal-path routing system rather than a make-you-go-in-a-straight-line machine. your spaceship is made out of wood bro what do you expect

      @@DontMockMySmock I don't even think people think it's some super sophisticated tech. Everyone knows that it just makes a beeline to your target. What happens is that people immediately forget where the Sun is after activating autopilot because the Sun is such a (relatively) non-issue when it comes to just putting around the solar system. You just simply forget to take it into account!
      Though, yeah, Jerma's comment seems to suggest that he thought autopilot was a little smarter.

      @@radshiba_ so I watched half of it but im not sure if ill finish it because while he is very observant and makes a lot of connections intuitively he also plays so incredibly slowly and so "out of order" it makes it hard to watch imo
      and ppl call it the best playthrough - thing is it is a good playthrough it’s just that i guess outer wilds builds so much on personal discovery that anyone who works differently to yourself ends up drawing conclusions at different times which becomes very hard to watch if you already have your own conclusions
      like when I played I finished one planet before moving on to others, worked with the ship log constantly and built up a picture of everything that way and by god it’s hard for me to watch someone just randomly bounce around everywhere without a plan

    Considering how close some scenes get to the endgame, I’m stunned there weren’t more deaths on Brittle Hollow. The old, “no I will NOT fall into the black hole, YES I’ve got round it SMACK into any surface at terminal velocity” trick would count for a LOT of my deaths overall. 😄

    Also why do so many people keep autopiloting into the sun ? Once or twice is normal but the first guy you meet literally tells you the ship doesn't have an object avoidance system, and even then you should figure it out quickly enough.

    Flying over those cacti really isn't super hard. If you fall into them, just immediately stop moving and patch your suit, then boost straight up and out. So long as you don't keep trying to move when you land in them, you won't continue to damage your suit and health.
