I've so appreciated hearing how several people seem to be enjoying the works on paper... it's lovely to hear when an experiment might have worked lol. Yes... those little bowls... worth a try at the squiggly pattern making. x
Love the paintings! Your story took me back to 1964, I had mumps and was confined to my bedroom and I wrote my name on the net curtain while pressing it to the wall to see if the letters would leave a mesh look on the surface. Of course it didn't, my name just stayed on the curtain...BIG and PROUD! Mum was not impressed out all.
aaaah Rossie, our poor MUMS! they had so much to put up with in their era..

Ahhh!! Aura is ADORABLE!! She reminds me so so much of my Toon who is also always cold and is a Chiweenie-(chi and dachshund mix). I also adore SO much the message within the art-why so serious is RIGHT!!

Peekaboo 😂 your husband has such a gentle voice, he reminded me of a professional photographer directing a fashion shoot 😂 love the artwork on paper Denise, I prefer to work on paper and very rarely paint on canvas and Aura is just Adorable 🥰 I also have a studio buddy a wild 10 month old boxer puppy who attempts to sit on my lap 🙈 enjoy your weekend Denise.
Awwww nice one Donna... yes Phillip can be very kind, especially when I warn him I'm quite triggered about getting the photography done and so I'm hyper sensitive, and cranky lol. I'm fascinated to let myself PLAY on paper way more... not sure why I haven't until now.... oooohw, a puppy.... gosh... we got Aura as a rescue when she was about 2 1/2, having her as a teeny puppy would have done me in I'm sure haha. It's been a nice weekend.. a longish bike ride today... Aura travelled on the back of Phillip's bike. lol. take care, thanks for connecting. x

From what I can discern the only matte acrylic paint made by liquitex is their acrylic gouache. The large bottles that Sandi Hester has are either from the basics range or, I think, otherwise she uses the soft body, neither of which is marketed as being matte paint. Liquitex does make a matte medium though. Do you varnish your work? If so you can use a matte varnish.
Okay I love love love the work you make! Similar to Sandy Hester’s work (as you mentioned) and though I LOVE her videos (is she not the absolute sweetest human!?) and have followed her for years, so absolutely NO disrespect to Sandy, BUT I quite like your style EVEN more!!!
It’s loose, but a bit more uniform than Sandy’s. I am currently trying to gear up to painting more loosely AND painting in gouache (I’m an all watercolor, all the time girl up until NOW!!) so I’m loving this!!!
One quick thing I have to add (and I’m sorry for this because I never want to push anyone to my channel inorganically😬) BUT -you might love the end of my most recent video-it’s almost exactly the interaction you’ve shown here with your sweet Aura, though with my Toon and little Ernie!!!🐶🐾❤if you might like giving mine a watch, you may want to skip the main content itself, as it’s perhaps not of interest but -the bloopers reel at the end! That’s where the pup fun is at, lol…I had forgotten you after subbing to your channel quite a long time ago-though haven’t been shown your vids for some reason🤷🏻♀️ and I’m so happy your video popped up in my notifications tonight! Thanks for your very generous compliments! so kind of you... and i love that you enjoyed this vid... and cheeky Aura sneaking in... I find it's just easier to bring her with me INTO the video than try and work around her wanting a hug, or food or attention etc.
You'll love her snack roll vids if you happen upon them... I take a hand towel and roll it up with little treats spaced out to the end... and she sniffs and unrolls it with her paws and nose... and eats the treats. SOOOO CUUUUTE. hehe

just love all your videos Denise! can u tell me do u use acrylic gouache or soft,or r hard body etc.. are they very different? i'm not crazy about hard body..also do u use a medium to thin them out? thanks!

I use a bunch of different paints depending on the effect I want,
but mostly... soft/flow type ones are good for coverage.. gouache is great for a matte look ... I used to use a lot of heavy body.. that is great if you want texture, say if you want to use a palette knife and have thicker paint laid on. ... I don't generally use mediums to thin things out... I start with the kind of paint and texture I want.
(I will admit... I have FAR too many options, and I really admire the artists who stick mostly with the primaries and mix all their own colours... when I grow up, I might do that more ha!)
