I wish you had compared the volt meter in the dash with the values on a multimeter at the battery to see if the values were the same or not. I question how accurate these dash volt meters actually are...ie., done a comparison test with a multimeter prior to installation to make sure it was accurate. Do you think you would get different values if you connected the dash volt meter to the fuse box under your dash?
Hi Joel, nice video. I notice you have quite a small battery fitted. With 540CCA. I'm (hopefully) just at the end of rebuilding and fitting the engine to my 2.4d and found that the battery that came with the van was duff (probably from sitting for so long). When I checked online, it said that an 019 is the battery needed for the van. I've ordered one from ebay for £67.95 with next day delivery. It has 920CCA and is 100Ah. As you have a Halfords battery fitted, the HB019 from Halfords is only 800CCA and is £113. I just thought I would mention it in case you were thinking of replacing the battery any time soon.
MarcBolan3 Oh thanks for this information. I have to admit I got lazy and just replaced the old battery with the same model from Halfords. I’ll definitely take this into account when I next have to buy one!
behave, it works fine and there is no issue going to the battery and switching it also what's the big deal with a piece of wood, it does the job. I'm lucky enough to have a 3d printer and print my surroundings etc but if you don't have one you just make do and a piece of wood works fine.
I really appreciate your clam, clear, straight forward demeanor. Some mechanic videos give me a headache; yours I can watch again and again.
Thank you for your kind words 🤗
You need to do the big 3 wiring upgrade you'll find it helps the alternator and battery keep a higher charge
can you show it,sir?
@@nazsakim8705 Google the big 3 electrical upgrade mate
I just came from sonic electronix video of 3 big updates and saw your comment here... weird
@@jayeshrathore5804 big 3 is the way forward
I just did the BIG 3 ...250amp alternator & upgraded wiring. I'm running STRONG NOW!
Nice job, maybe a bigger battery as my VW has a monster battery on it, and just had a new alternator fitted & now up and going again
Thanks for the video Dude ..will be installing one....Ft Lauderdale, Fl...👍
Great job!

I have led cubes could it be ran through them as well since their already direct to the battery
Now that's a good idea, I may fit one to my T4
Great music. Who is it ?

be a lot cheaper on ebay compared to Halfrauds :)
Nice job mate...A+
sorry mate can you put a link to the cable to switch connectors pls. also is that 4 mm 40 amp wire ?
What gauge wire did you use
8 amp
Looks good
Thanks kindly for this video my friend
Can I install the voltmeter from the stereo power wires?
You could, and it would work, but not recommended because the wiring/fuse is designed to work with your stereo and not an additional component
Who is the music?
Very helpful! Thanks
Nice video, thanks, gonna do this 👍🏻
This is my professional advice 😂😂
Is another way to wire this if I grab the power and ground wire from the cigarette lighter plug?
It may work, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Whatever you do make sure you are using a correctly fused circuit. Good luck!
@@JoelsStuff good.. but the cigarette lighter has a fuse too.
What type gauge wire did you use, and why do you have two toggle switches?
The other is just for my stereo. The wire is rated at 8 amps
That’s very helpful, thanks!
You should replace your diesel heater plug
Already done since this!
where did you get the part?
Ebay!
@@JoelsStuff thanks but already found on amazon.
Where Can I Purchase This Meter ?
I got this from eBay!
What was the 2nd switch for?
That’s just my stereo power
Joel, you should never use electrical tape and use shrink wrap tubing instead. Great vid buddy.
That looks like a prof install 😂
turn lights and ac and then see the voltage drop.
I wish I had AC 🤗
What is going on here, i dont get any of this
A voltmeter is a simple display telling me the strength of the battery charge.
Joel's Stuff i meant its too complicated for me to install it

Made me cringe , a piece of wood , no heatshrink and straight to the battery , WTF just wire it the the ignition
Sorry you didn’t like it

@@lambrettaladUK and going straight to the battery gives you the most accurate reading.
