Wow...! Seeing that dashboard & the gearshift with the “bend” & black rubber boot at the base reminded me of being a kid again my Dad putting his hand over mine as we shifted gears ⚙️ together 😁... He had a 77’ 3/4 ton. Brown Chevy... Thanks Mike! Great Video!!
I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost my account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
If that's a volt meter or a battery conductance tester then it looks ancient, but very well cared for (you must take good care of your tools). Haven't seen an analog one in forever. 🙂
Hi Mike! For the viewers FYI, Mike wired or fed his power for the positive on the new gauge from an Ignition source from his fuse box, which is acceptable and I have done also. He referred to it as fuseable link and not to be confused with a Fuseable link wire used instead of a line fuse, breaker, or relay. Sorry for butting in Mike. Hope you don't mind sir, NO bashing of your work intended. Cheers from Motown.
Instructions, who needs instructions when you’re Mike Haduck? It’s no big deal! Now where did I hear these famous words before, haha? That truck was from a better time in our lives. I sure miss my manual transmissions.
Thank you I’m a young mechanic I can tell you anything wrong with a new car but I couldnt tell you how to wire a older truck the old fashioned way still learning and this adds to my skill set
I hate red idiot lights! Vehicles should have full gauges. It's funny because looking at the dash it appears like there should've been a cluster of full gauges in the big round openings where the idiot lights are. They might've been optional and they just weren't purchased when the truck was new. GM seemed notorious for that. I had several GM vehicles that had lots of dash openings where there seemingly should be gauges but they just used a speedo, gas gauge and a bunch of idiot lights where the gauges should be.
Switched connection to volt meter showed 12.4 volts and direct connection to battery showed 14.7 volts on my car.. I'm running off swiched fuse box connection.
I am actually extremely educated,, I had over 18 years of education before I quit in the 6th grade, but I did get it done and it works fine, the end result is the important thing, lol, thanks Mike
@@mikehaduck-travel-mechanic884 LOL... I was the one being nit-picky. Your correct, you got it done and results are what people tend to care about. I was just satisfying my need to get others to make distinctions I find important.
Wrong. A voltmeter should be connected directly to the alternator itself, not to the battery charger. Volt meter is not to show condition of your batery. Volt meter is there to show “ Does your alternator work properly. Does your alternator charge! Maybe your alternator belt is loose! If you connect to the battery charger, you might be measuring the voltage coming from the battery itself, which could mask issues with the alternator's charging capabilities. Understand?!
Enjoyed the video. I miss more simple vehicles.
Thanks Jim. I agree, mike

Thanks, Mike
😂😂😂👍🏼 i put my 3 gauge cluster in 5months ago and never finished hooking up the amp gauge. So i guess it'll get done today.
thank you. finally a video i can actually use for my '87 van voltmeter install.
Thanks
nice video! I always say start with the easy things first to find the problem lol.
Thanks Sue, mike

Hi Clint, I agree, anybody could fix the stuff back then, simple, not anymore, thanks mike
Seeing that voltimeter/battery tester took me to memory lane, to the times when my father was starting his own mechanic shop.
Good times.
Thanks
Good simple video that everyone can understand keep making them😎
Thanks Seamus, Mike
Very good video, keep it simple Thumbs up.

What about the light bulb to the gauge ? Ground and then dimmer switch wire ?
Hi Mike ground and then I went to fuse on dimmer Smith, Mike

Very good explain nice Chevy
Thanks, Mike
Awsome video...do you have a video of a temperature gauge install
I have one called, Water temperature Guage, thanks, Mike
The brushes were probably worn out on the old one. If so, new brushes and bearings and it will be good for another 150K.
Thanks Rob, mike
Thank you for posting ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thanks mike
Good Job!
Thanks EZGZ, mike

Genius !
Thanks,
So just basically run the black wire to a ground and the red to the fuse box … with a fuse greater then 12
They make disable links that u could have soldered in but if it works it works
Thanks. Mike
Hello Mike - Where can I buy that Bosch volt meter - all the stuff I see online is the cheap china stuff...
Hi, I bought it at auto zone, thanks , Mike
Wish mine worked like that
Switched connection to volt meter showed 12.4 volts and direct connection to battery
showed 14.7 volts on my car.. I'm running off swiched fuse box connection.
Thanks, Mike
Looks like 12 people got their hand caught in the fan.
Thanks mike
🤣🤣🤣🤣
now I know how to add that to my 1995 F150 with 228K miles
Thanks, mike
you didn't check it under load or compare the measurements to the voltmeter
Hi ,no and long as it says its charging I was happy,
👍👍🙆♂️
Thanks, Mike
Thank u
Thanks, Mike
A bit pedantic, I know I apologize for that, but it's a pet peeve of mine... in the beginning of the video you call a nut a bolt.

The battery light just indicates that the battery isnt receiving enough voltage
Thanks, Mike
Solder don't crimp, use fuse jumpers
Thanks ,
10-4 Mike. I enjoyed watching your video, thanks for tolerating me !
Gauge tells you if your voltage regulater is working correctly, not your alternater., imo
Thanks Larry, mike
it went up to over 15 volts when started....what does that tell you ? form 11 ...when sitting
Get a fuse tap!
Thanks Carl, Mike
A new alternator would cost 200 bucks n Ireland all day long
Thanks, Mike
Wrong. A voltmeter should be connected directly to the alternator itself, not to the battery charger. Volt meter is not to show condition of your batery. You can do both depending on use of vehicle, everyday driver, performance, of road etc etc
A pair of proper crimper&stripper literally costs 8$ dude!!
Thanks, Mike
It's Michael 😊
Mickey mouse way of connecting to fuse panel.
thanks Ken, but it works,
