FAQ:
Q - Mission 39: Is this one giant SMBZ reference?
A: Yes
Q - Battlescape: What perks to pick pt. 3?
Now that we have Colonels of most classes it's time to wrap up the perk selection part of the FAQ.
•Support - Colonel: Saviour. Sentinel is an amazing perk that only works if you already have someone with Saviour and went with no medkit perks. Medkits, even with the Improved Medkits, fall out of use by the time you unlock the tier 3 armours, so a +4 HP buff really lets them be usable again. Combined with Field Medic and Deep Pockets, and one support has enough healing for the entire squad
•Sniper - Colonel: Double Tap. ITZ + Snapshot is quite possibly the most broken combination in XCOM EU, especially with high mobility and the jumpy legs gene mod, but it's horribly unreliable compared to Double Tap, and when lives are on the line because you need to focus fire a Sectopod out of existence, Double Tap reigns.
•Assault - Colonel: Resilience. This is I/I, crit immunity is a godsend for survivability. Killer Instinct is, once again, not bad (especially when combined with Bring 'Em On) but the guarantee that your soldier takes three shots to kill under any circumstance is too good to pass up. Assaults can reach 25 HP even on Impossible, and no alien weapons deal more than 12 damage on a non-crit.
Q - Battlescape: Why the bad soldiers on so many missions?
During the late game, gear is almost as important as rank for easier missions. You can easily compensate for having a squad of squaddies by arming them with Plasma Rifles, Titan Armour and Ghost Grenades. Since UFOs smaller than a Supply Barge, Council missions, EXALT and Abductions don't have Secondary-type pods and usually have less aliens anyway, bringing these soldiers is a good chance to rank up some backups. Having spare soldiers a rank or two below the best to replace them if injured or dead is vital and makes losing your best soldier, or even squadwiping, a much less painful experience. Not having backups has bitten me a lot of times throughout this campaign.
Q - Geoscape: No, really, why haven't you done the ABA yet? You've got the equipment now!
Doing the ABA changes the mission schedule completely. The second monthly UFO is no longer guaranteed to appear (bad - less loot) and terror missions occur every month instead of twice per month (bad - more chances for a game over). Since a month's schedule is determined in advance, I can squeeze out another pre-ABA month by doing the ABA early on in the month.
Fun Fact: The odds of not running into a single Sectopod on a 5-pod October Terror mission (45% per pod) is still more likely than 3 of 4 pods in an Abduction being Mechtoids (~10% per pod). Игры
Hey y'all, Unpossible will be going on another hiatus, hopefully not for six months this time. The campaign is reaching its conclusion, so the next batch of episodes will be the last. See you all soon!
It's always a joy to see 50 minutes of my favourite let's play go live. Do you have any plans to do xcom unpossible 2 at some point after this series is done?
I just binged watch your Xcom series, cool stuff! Long War Unpossible... eh eh!
Man really awesome this series. I find X-com fucking stressing on my game play, i re-start like three times before actually feeling i have opportunity to do something, i cannot think about playing it on impossible. Waiting for the next episodes patiently, as i know it probably takes forever playing and then editing everything!
Take all the time you need. When you output videos as good as these, the wait is always worth it.
Well man, then I'm hitting the bell and waiting.
"Approaching the late Sokolov in terms of accomplishments."
Up to and including dying.
Eyes peeled commander.
Eyes peeled commander.
Eyes peeled commander.
I don't know why I only made the connection in this video, but I like the detail of exclusively using Payday 2 tracks while you're fighting the men in business suits and masks.
No meld? *insert funny picture of megamind here*
Following kicking a few ayylmaos shit in and a sectopod scare, the XCOM team invented a revolutionary aircraft, which they used to down a fucking battleship. Which was promptly turned into the grave of another chad heavy.
On the bright side, a literal redshirt proved his worth using an oversized taser to capture an elite muton, against the odds. And with the resources gained, the XCOM project was able to create armour enabling temporary flight for the wearer. Used to effect by Inez with a sniper rifle.
Binged the series in one day. Incredible quality and subbed.
Mad respect for the comeback.
Sucks that it's on hiatus but you do you man, the quality is there to wait for the next one.
Love these vids man, super slick gameplay and editing.
Normally I can’t watch vids without commentary but your witty and informative subtitles are a refreshing take.
Watching you play makes me so nostalgic for XCOM!
Appreciate ya!
F for the lad.
Something tells me this Toby's going to go far
Man this series is amazing, I wish you could do one with Long War, but I know it would take forever and would be an impossible commitment. Here's to hoping though!
Love moments like 17:30 where the shot misses even when you see it connecting.
Love your production values. The solider roster portion was really cool.
I see your SMBZ reference and I appreciate it.
And that is why you don't bunch up when an elite muton has been activated and still has a grenade in his pocket...
Yeah I had to learn that one the hard way as well
Spacing, people-it saves lives
The SMBZ references went crazy this episode, I’ve been binging these at work; absolutely loving them
I love this game wholeheartedly but it’s type boring and your videos make it look like a riot the whole time lmao
25:57 yeah your sniper deserves the upgrade. if the "close combat specialist" didnt miss his point blank shot then mayybe the alloy cannon!
How are you not more well known?
Yo I discovered this series and your channel, like, today, but hot damn is it some really good content. Feels like something I’d rewatch in a few months too.
Hype shit
Every step we take will be paved in blood. Godspeed Giorgios
These videos are really entertaining and very high quality, keep up the good work!
I enjoyed these episodes, thanks, GIVE ME MORE PLEASE.
Series is great-yaddayadda-What I wanna know is why you never did operation slingshot? Zhang is a fantastic heavy who gets better stats and friends in low places, the first mission, isn't all too difficult and after that you can just ignore the train and early battleship
I think I mention this somewhere, but I wanted the most vanilla experience possible and disabled both Slingshot and Portent, as well as some Second Wave options I would otherwise play with.
also i don't own the slingshot dlc lmao
@@kierany9 Your loss.
aside from having it disabled, if you remember around that time in the campaign he was frequently going into missions with several Rookies. Not really realistic to ask him to do Gankplank
@@giacomomeluzzi280 True.
It has early muton that literally seems to never miss.
He feels extra accurate compared to normal mutons
@@danielsurvivor1372 early mutons come with light carbines that give +10 aim (that goes for Thin Men, Outsiders and your soldiers as well) so that's why the feel more accurate, they are. After a while they start deploying with Rifles, trading accuracy for damage.
I love SMBZ, so excited for the new episodes
Found your channel and XCOM Videos after I started playing XCOM-2. Gotta say, I like what I see, the videos are both entertaining and informative. On the notion of the hiatus? We're all only human, and sometimes we have unexpected events in our lives that need our attention.
My point being, you do what you gotta, and you be careful. The game's not going anywhere.
"Wasn't there a third guy?" "Nah don't worry." 2 turns later "I FUCKING KNEW IT"
Let's gooo
"The Great Battleship Offensive" - *Battleship Halberd music issues*
would you ever consider doing a playthrough similar to this for XCOM 2?
don't get your hopes up - it's a possibility but a very small one
@@kierany9 please man(☞ ಠ_ಠ)☞
@@kierany9 in xcom terms, that's probably a hit... for the aliens
@@josephhussain7238 so....us?

I played a campaign until March 2016.
I've shot down these things left and right
I was playing on normal though lol
bump
Mission 39 was won but at what cost.....
still waiting...
I just realized, you don't have Slingshot or Progeny missions? Whyyyy? Slingshot final mission would've made this campaign easier and Progeny... Well that one boring but eh
pokemon showdown? 😳
you used the flushed emoji in my comment section, it has now been delayed by six more months
@@kierany9 Good.
Nah, that's boring. You should try it with longwar man, it's much more fun.
Don't afraid, XCOM long war ironman\impossible is not so hard as all say.
Belive me, i complete it 4 times!
