Q - Battlescape: what was that awful play with exalt
A - Half Cover is No Cover. EXALT is kind of a non-threat throughout most of the game, even on Impossible. Combine mediocre stats (lmao @ 65 aim operatives with 2-4 damage) with large numbers, the ability to turn off their guns and an AI that is ridiculously prone to doing stupid shit like stand in the open with no cover or suicide bumrush the encoder, and you get enemies that feel like comic relief. Then they land a few lethal shots and it's not so funny anymore. Never forget that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
Q - Battlescape: EXALT Heavies?
A - EXALT Heavies are by far one of the most dangerous enemies in the game, because they too have the power of 90% rocket launchers. Alien Grenades are nasty but rockets are stronger and with a much larger blast radius.
Q - Battlesape/Geoscape: Why SHIVs (instead of MECs)?
A - No meld. Besides that and on a more serious note, SHIVs are a godsend if you're behind on good troops. A SHIV is no colonel but it out-aims, out-guns, out-tanks, and is more disposable than a squaddie by a long shot. As filler/support units for weaker squads, SHIVs work wonders. MECs on the other hand, are a massive investment and are the absolute opposite of disposable, if I had spare soldiers to turn and meld and dollars to invest I would, but I don't.
Q - Geoscape: What's up with the mission types that you're getting now?
A - All countries but one are covered with sats, and you need at least two uncovered countries for abductions. Additionally, terror missions only happen once every two months until the Alien Base Assault (ABA), so because I lost so many countries so fast I'm actually stuck with mostly just UFOs and EXALT every month from now on. EDIT - Also, those thin men in mission 24 went from play "XCOM: TBS" to playing "XCOM: Survival Horror" real fast
As a side note, I love how, for once, XCOM and EXALT loadouts are in the same tier (sans grenades) once the elites show up. I’ve never seen that happen.
Funny thing, that capture happened to me in long war, fucker ran into my dense smoke and my engineer had zero chance of killing it, but a 10% on capture. And he did it!
The cathartic X2 victory music at the end of this video really hit the spot. Viva la Robolution!

Gained a new sub. Im guessing your not gonna use meld? I realized how mec troopers, meld make it easier. Also Zhang's DLC mission gives a big ass boost for materials. BUT YAY MY BOY SOKOLOV A COLONEL. Cant wait to see him with a plasma cannon

Have you ever thought of capping aliens and reusing their plasma weapons? Is Operation slingshot enabled?
@@mortisedthegamer778 Slingshot and Progeny are disabled, as are any second wave options. Those alter the difficulty for better or for worse, and I wanted to do I/I in a vanilla environment.
And capping isn't on the table... yet.
@@kierany9 Ight. I literally had to rush carapiece armor for the last mission of gangplank. And protengy gave you free PSI soldiers from annette to the 3 volunteers. Zhang's DLC and operstion progeny would of been WAY MORE harder

Nope
But if you're lacking in Laser guns, they're a good source of weapons, and the Council pays good for them if they request them.
