I wish instead of trying to guess what brand it is and possibly swaying your answer you would concentrate on telling us what you like and what you are tasting and then what you like best.
Love this! Not talking about the nose or what you smell, " Caramel Apple Pie and S*%t" I Love that you just go with the flavors! Subscribed tonight! I have all of these and prefer Wild Turkey 101 followed by Buffalo Trace! Nice Job guys, very entertaining.
first thanks for subscribing…I agree… truth is in the blind i would have said 101 would have won hands down.. i was very surprised when Buffalo Trace was the #1 pick from the blind.. if you have never done a blind tasting you should
Great video! I'm really digging your channel for it being newer in the bourbon realm. The way you have them lined up (OF100, WT101, BT, 1792 SmB) is probably the order I would choose them in a non blind. Would be interested to see what I choose if I did blind them!
@@OneMoreBottle the results from my blind of the same four - OF100, 1792, BT, WT101. I was surprised that I chose 1792 over the 101, but that's what makes blinds so fun! Thanks for the inspiration to try this out
This was fun to watch. Best episode you have done. I’ve seen inconsistency in 1792 SB. Some great, some not so. BT hard to find at a good price in our area. New fan of WT 101. May be the best tasting bargain in bourbon. Well done guys. And, yes, I think she was talking about you 😂
thanks 😊… 🦃 101 is tops for me. I was very surprised that I chose BT although it has always been great. Thanks for watching we hav e more blinds coming
I’ve had enough bottles of WT 101 and Buffalo Trace to know that the taste varies from bottle to bottle. I almost never have a disappointing bottle of 101 though.
Just a had a bottle that was so cinnamon forward I swore someone switched it's contents with Fireball. The next bottle tasted like traditional 101 so I'll have to disagree on that.
Really enjoyed this blind! Thanks for being honest and talking about budget whiskeys. Enjoying your channel! Any other budget bottles that you considered tossing in this category?
I like all of these.......but 1792 is easily my favorite whiskey around 30 ish bucks. I dont share the love so much for BT. Its a great cheap bourbon.....but my taste buds say 1792. Great video! Cheers!
All so close! Hard blind to get right! WT101 and OF100 are in my top 5 list - daily drinkers! 1792 is in top 10. Not a big fan of BT. 1792 has a black pepper taste to me. I do prefer min proof of 100. Fun video! Keep em coming!
I live in Ohio and just last week I got my first bottle of Buffalo Trace! It is so smooth and tasty! What a value bottle at $26. Same as Turkey 101 and cheaper than 1792.
Very nice. I can never find BT where I live. If you do it's double retail and it's not worth it. The other 3 are always available. Right now I would go OF, 101 and then 1792. Have you tried the BT Benchmark?
I love this...yes, my Bourbon Journey started with Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig Small Batch, Bulleit Frontier (orange label), WT 101, then Rare Breed, Eagle Rare, Russell's 10 year, Henry McKenna 10 year BnB, Woodford's Double Oak, Penelope 4 grain (red label), 1792, Old Forester 1910...love the sweeter bourbon...laughed at FOMO.
Elijah was my beginning… Rare Breed is now one of my favorites but WT 101 is pretty much my daily drinker at the moment as well as Russell’s … as you progress your palette does change… which is why i keep trying new bourbons and revisiting old ones
Fun video, thanks. I didn't want to like Buffalo, but it keeps winning my blinds. I got 1792 because the only way I could get a bottle of Eagle Rare was to buy a 1792 with it. It's good, but not one of my favorites. I always love Turkey, and have not tried OF100 yet. (I saw it for $23 yesterday and should have grabbed one). $26??? Wow. The lowest in my area (if you can even find it) for BT is $35. I have seen it as high as $70. I have NEVER seen a 1.75 of Trace.
You're going to hate hearing this but my local Walmarts (Miami)just started selling this for $23.99 and I can buy them as far as the eye can see. I know, it's crazy 🦬
@@detroyt232323 that's great news for you! (assuming you like BT). I'd buy it at $24 for SURE. I got a bottle of Buffalo Trace for $28 in Portland this week (I was there visiting my daughter and her family). Not sure if I want to pay $35 again for it though.
You make a great point that eventually your pallet will change. It seemed like mine changed overnight. For the LP picks I like Wild Turkey 101. I think it's the best value in bourbon. I also like the Buffalo Trace. I would love for you to do a HP blind with: Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Makers Mark 57 Cast Strength, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, and 1792 Bottled in Bond or 1792 Single Barrel. The finish on these HP selections is far better and has made the LP ones less desirable. Thanks for the video. They're fun. P.S. I also like the fact that your guesses were way off - mine would be do. A blind will do that to you, lol.
I realize this is an old video.. but you were trying it blind to determine what you like and yet you're continually just trying to guess what's what. It's a blind. Just focus on flavors and stop trying to match up what you know. Unless it's a 'Can I pick the bottle' blind. But still... good stuff.
101 is good...Rare Breed is more complex but the finish of 101 has more of a bite and lasts longer...So for me especially for the price the 101 is where its at...It kind of tastes like Makers Mark cask strength to me even though it's not a wheater...
I have all 4 bottles, they are all great, and if I did a blind, Buffalo Trace would win most times, barely, but the other three would switch positions each time
Nice video. Of these four bottles, I have tried 1792 and Buffalo Trace. They are okay, but nothing I would keep in my bar. In fact, I have passed on buying Buffalo Trace three times in the last few months, even though it is difficult to find in my state. For my palate, I would pay $10 more and get Eagle Rare. I would try Buffalo Trace again, but there are so many bottles that I have yet to try that I want to try before revisiting Buffalo Trace.
you will find your palate is always changing and your favorite will change. The 4 bottles were based on user reviews… wild Turkey 101 is one of my favorite daily drinkers.. we all have bottles that cost more that we would buy
My exact rankings of these bottles when I blinded them... Though OF100 and WT101 are basically tied and which I prefer varies day by day. And Buff Trace only slightly edges them out. Frankly after how Bourbon Junkies and a few other youtubers raved about 1792SB... I was expecting more from it... especially since it seems to be closer to the $35 price point than the $20-25 one the rest of these are in (It's $33 here I think)... And that means it's facing Eliah Craig SB and Eagle Rare in its price point... and they smack it around and laugh at it.
I'll put 1792 dead last against a $5 bottle every time. Very not impressed with it and the fact that the bottle looks like a giant perfume bottle seals the deal for me. Hard pass!
OK, I get some of the others being able to confuse, but WT101 is clearly stronger tasting and has more caramel. Buffalo trace is super weak, kind of sweet and mellow but really needs to be proofed up to 100 to be good. I can't say anything for 1792 as I've not had it but Old Forester is boring and plain . I could mix up the low end bourbons but WT101 is pretty distinctive, the rye content and alcohol give it away.... I used to like Buffalo Trace but these days it just tastes like someone added too much water to something good... If they bumped Buffalo Trace to 100 proof it would be good
Sorry, this video didn't work for me. Rather than guessing the brand and the level of burn, it would have been more useful to say what flavours you tasted.
Buffalo trace is weak. May as well buy Benchmark bonded. Everyone tells you Wild Turkey 101 is the best but when you find out Old Forester signature 100 tastes like fresh baked banana bread, You realize it is clearly high scale 65 dollar Bourbon
Elijah Craig is actually one of my favorite Bourbons under $30. We built that list off of user reviews and yes 1920 is absolutely amazing but the old Forrester 100 is great for 22 bucks.
Good video. I have these four bottles in my bar, and I would agree with your comments. However, I live in NC (state controlled stores) and Buffalo Trace is seldom, if ever, available. I would suggest including in your next blind of "under $30" Old Grand-Dad BIB, Old Grand-Dad 114, and Evan Williams 1783. These will present additional variety with or without Buffalo Trace in the lineup. Keep up the good work.
All those are a great line up.. we are going to continue doing blinds and then put the winners up against each other…. doing blinds will shock you on what you pick
Wow apparently i must be the only person in America who drinks bourbon and doesn't have a RUclips channel! nothing wrong with yours just seems like there are dozens more every day.
So weird how tastes differ cause I will take OF100 ALL DAY over EBBiB ... that stuff to me horrible, along with WT101 ... I think those 2 are the absolute worst tasting budget bourbons
