    Totally agree with you that fruit forward whiskeys are my favorite, and absolutely cant stand whiskeys with that peanut note. If its very slight i can sometimes deal w if, but if its very noticeable i cant stand it. Big reason i dont like ECBP. But some of the store picks that are off profile are amazing

      fruit forward is just the bees knees.....i swear im not as old as that statement made it sound lol. I too am not big on peanut, but most ECBP has never bothered me and especially not due to any nuttiness. lately, the issue has been the dang marker notes i get from them. We actually did a four-way blind as our first youtube video! If you dont mind the teething problems of a first video, it is well worth a watch!

      @@Whiskey_Trekyea fruit forward whiskey is definitely my favorite. I didnt really get the sharpie/marker note on ecbp except a124, and it was pretty noticeable, as well as super peppery. Im super sensitive to the nutty note. I can always pick it out even when its subtle. My brother likes the peanut note, and he thinks im crazy when i can pick it out in whiskeys where its not very noticeable. I find it in pretty much every heaven hill and beam product, and a fair amount of wild turkey products. My brother doesnt get it a lot of heaven hill stuff, but i do, just some more than others.
      Want to do a blend that will blow your mind, blend eagle rare and rare breed. Its crazy how good it is. About 50/50 of each, if going to go a little heavier on one, go a little heavier on the eagle rare. Its actually really good with the rare breed rye too, but better with the rare breed bourbon. If you try it, let me know what you think. My brother calls it rare bird, i called it bird brain cause the first time he did it was with the best eagle rare store pick that had crazy strawberry notes and he only had a little bit of it so i called him a bird brain for using that pick instead of the regular release haha.

    Nice comparison and interesting comments from viewers… I’d have to agree with them… literally every bottle has differences… just ran across this video… subscribed now… good luck…

      Glad to have you along! Maybe a better title would have been single barrel variation haha

    Eagle rare is basically a single barrel except they don't clean the tubes when changing barrels. I had the same thing happen with 2 different bottles of the new design where one was way sweeter than the other. Downside of single barrel

    • @Whiskey_Trek
      @Whiskey_Trek  7 месяцев назад +1

      any excuse to side by side eagle rare is enough for us! haha

      @jacksmith2315 3 месяца назад

      Not so much that they dont clean the lines, its more so continuous runs from barrel to barrel so theres a little bit from the end of one barrel that mixes with the beginning of the next barrel so they cant call it a single barrel.

    You do know they do not batch Eagle Rare, right? It is as close to a single barrel as you can get, without being a single barrel. Just put 2 old bottles together, or 2 new bottles togetrher, and they will be different too!

      yeah i have heard this as well! Our thought in this video is that with a label change, sometimes their might be noticeable changes in the stocks as well that might be more noticeable than just single barrel variation, so we decided to side by side and see how far the flavor profile might have drifted over the years

    Great job of displaying which bottle was which. It would’ve been difficult to follow if we just waited to the end and you said, this one is the new bottle. Good job

    When they run single barrels out they have a smaller line that they send it to they do not dump it in the main line system to run through all the piping I have already confirmed this with most of the larger distilleries

    But even though it's the same juice eagle rares can be different bottle to bottle as they run out on the distillery people think that they are basically single barrel until they clean the tab that's not true they dump about 10 or 20 barrels or so and then bottle them we are talking a very large distillery not a micro lol they run large capacity I've been collecting since 1991 most of the eagle rares I keep and put up are true single barrel store picks have fun out there stay safe

      William,
      Ninety-nine percent of people repeat that same story that they've heard everyone else repeating about "they're basically single barrels." Could you tell me how you know about the standard Eagle Rare being batched? A source for this info maybe?

    • @williamsedlock3903
      @williamsedlock3903 5 месяцев назад

      @@Best_Served_Neat_On_Iceknowledge and common sense is how I know why would they barrel one barrel at a time? On something so huge as the eagle rare line Yes they do do it but them barrels go to a special single barrel line for bottling. It doesn't make sense especially losing 2 gallons of waste per barrel and going through all the hassle why not just dump 10-20 or 200 barrels and run them through I have picked dozens of single barrel picks at most of all of the distilleries and have spoken with a lot of people about this I don't know everything I just know what I know and what people tell me and I take it with a grain of salt not trying to correct anybody or tell them it's wrong what they've heard lol because I'm going on what the distilleries told me lol in the end it's all about good bourbon I guess Good luck out there good hunting

    It's the same juice both bottles it's just a label change The bottles that didn't say 10 year on the front set it on the back label they just decided to put the 10-year in the front but it's nothing different same juice they didn't change a thing

    • @jacksmith2315
      @jacksmith2315 3 месяца назад

      It actually is different because they are almost single barrels. It used to say single barrel on the older bottles, but they had to remove single barrel because the way they started bottling it is running one barrel after another, continuously, so theres a little that gets blended at the end of the first barrel and the beginning of the next. And as we all know, each barrel is different. Maybe be the same mashbill, same age statement, but theres always variation on flavor notes barrel to barrel
