    Wine Folly has made huge contributions to my wine education, but your presentation style has mesmerized me as well. I swear I would watch you read the phone book. Good thing I am learning about wine too. Thanks for what you do. And Peace Out!

    Great video! I would've guessed that Sauternes, Châteauneuf-du-Pape or even Beaujolais would be considered more "famous" than Cahors or Meursault

      You’re right! I’m just showing the most widely emulated wines that have french-origin grapes. CdP has a foundation in Garnacha which has been proven to be from the Iberian peninsula 🇪🇸

      @@winefolly 0:38 "Did you know that of the top 10 grape varieties planted worldwide, 7 originate from France?" Proceeds to list 6 French grape varieties in the list.

    I have tested a lot of wines as my father is a wine importer. Without being snobbish I can honestly say that France makes some of the best wines in the world. The new world wines can be good, but almost never reach this level. But unfortunately the market is well aware of this so you pay ridiculous money for the most famous French wines. 😂 Blame rich people who pay for the brand, and who mix it with coca cola….

    • @winefolly
      @winefolly  Месяц назад +1

      Based on what you said at the end, I really do believe your dad is a wine importer. It sounds like you've seen a lot!

      @kenzeo Месяц назад

      Almost never means sometimes they do. Even blind judges by the top French judges. See 'The Judgement Of Paris', 1976 I believe. Year after year for sometime many countries are represented in the top 10. France is not the only country with sun and dirt. Additionally, many French winemakers have been working abroad and training abroad for decades, so there's that.

    • @kenzeo
      @kenzeo Месяц назад +1

      Aside from that, I have been disappointed paying up for French wines, just as much as I have been disappointed paying up for wines from other regions. The game is global, plain and simple.

    I am a simple man, if I see “Grand vin de Bordeaux” on the bottle, I buy it. If I see “made in china,” I curse. If I see “Chateau Mouton Rothschild” - then I know I am daydreaming.
