The average person isn’t looking to spend $80 to $100 for a good bottle bourbon. There are a lot of great bourbons under $40 and some most people never talk about.. It seems everyone is chasing allocated bourbons and overlooking some great choices.. our plan is to highlight them and try more that we haven’t tried.. I look forward to viewer suggestions as well
I agree. While I appreciate bottles that can cost a bit, I'm not spending that much money on a regular basis. I consider those treats when I can afford to spend that much, but I usually tend to stick with good tasting, lesser expensive brands.
It’s a great selection the more you drink bourbon you’ll find your flavor profile will change and you’ll find new bourbons that you appreciate a lot as well
Very good list. I'm a few months into drinking bourbon and I have 4 of these bottles. I found 100 proof to be fine starting out, adding ice takes away that harshness really quick, and I can't see excluding WT101 for its proof when the flavors and value are a bullseye.
I think you're spot on on all of these. I am just starting drinking bourbon and I enjoy all but rare breed havent tried that one yet but I will now start looking
Thorough review @One More Bottle. Appreciate it. And I'm enjoying my new experience with this Wild Turkey 101 bourbon (neat). I'm still relatively new to whiskies in general. I started with high-end Irish & rye whiskies and still love them! As of now, just drinking this Wild Turkey 101 at room temp in my favorite whiskey glass and you know what? Not bad! It's very nice for the price. Is it amazing? I can't say that. But for it's price, loving it. This bourbon would taste great in cocktails for sure.
As I continue on MY bourbon journey and watch all these "beginner" videos from different RUclipsrs, I see a ton of consistency, which is great! Wild Turkey, Elijah Craig, 1792, Buffalo Trace (can't find it near me), Four Roses... they are on everyone's recommended list.
We toured the Buffalo Trace distillery a few weeks ago in Frankfort. They make a ton of different brands there including Blanton’s, Weller and Eagle Rare. We got to taste a bunch of different things but I did like Buffalo Trace the most.
@@OneMoreBottle no that was the only one we toured. The scent of the mash in the air was so great. The workers were ending their shift on a Friday and gave all of the people on the tour Blanton cork stoppers. Had a great time there.

Really like the Rare Breed, I’m on the hunt for their Rare Breed Rye tough to find near me tho. Bowman Brothers is a good Whiskey I’ve been introducing to friends and families, specifically Isaac Bowman’s Port Barrel Finished bottle is great.
Rare Breed is such a good bourbon. Here in Texas the Rye is pretty much available in most stores. I will have to give Bowman Brothers a try. I always look forward to trying new bourbons.
In Australia we find Buffalo Trace easily enough but it is 80 proof for our market. I recommend to new drinkers Makers Mark 46 and Woodford Double Oak, most seem to really like them.
New subscriber, like your channel. Watching this today got me to pull out the bottle of Wild Turkey 101 that I had pushed to the back months ago and try it again. I just joined the bourbon community a year ago after not drinking spirits for over 35 years, I'm 77. I guess my pallet has changed because I did not care for this bottle at all when I bought it. But giving it a second chance surprised me, I really enjoyed it. So it is back up front. Still need to try the Rare Breed. Cheers
One thing I have learned is that after a bourbon is opened it will get better. The neck pour sometimes isn't as good as when you get the bottle down. A bottle I recommend is Russell Reserve 10 year. It is around $31 to $35 a bottle and is amazing. It is also in the Wild Turkey family. Thanks for watching and being part of the community
@@OneMoreBottle Just finished a Russell 10 year and have it on my list for purchase. Just started this hobby in Jan and have built up a shelf of 38 whiskeys.

First thanks for watching… Yes we will be shooting videos on how to host Bourbon tastings as well videos of some tasting events. We will also upload some on how we do our blind tasting.
Very nice selection. I have all except the Rare Breed. I will have to add that now! I too was turned off by the 'burn' for a lot of years until this past Christmas when My son had us do a blind and then for the first time ever I noticed a difference in the 3 spirits I had at the time. There was Jack Daniels 150th anniversary edition that I have had for several years and a Woodford Reserve wheat bourbon and then the 3rd was Knob creek Specs house select. Man o man... tasting and smelling and getting a difference between the three finally got me past the burn and now I have over 30 bottles and am starting to settle in to my favorite flavor profile. It took a long time but now it is enjoyable to sip a bourbon. I am finding that there are expressions more suited for mixing and others more for sipping in my opinion. As always...what you like is fine by me and I like what I like and I am ok with that. I also am finding out that over time my taste is changing and I never imagined that would happen. Thank you sir, great video! Im very new to the bourbon game but this video helped a ton! I now know what to keep an eye on out for im out hunting for Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare
I keep a 1.75 of Basil Hayden’s and Gentleman Jack for beginners. I’ve found that typically anything over 90 proof and they are asking for for something to mix it with….
Generally when we to bourbon tasting events I get them to take their first sip to get the shock of the burn out of the way. Then I have them sip again and generally that tones down the burn. Lower proof bourbons can actually have more burn than some of the higher proofs. Gentleman Jack is so good.
Gentleman Jack was my entry into drinking bourbon neat. It takes time to develop a palette. I didn't like the first bottles of Elijah Craig & Buffalo Trace I had, but as I tried others I realized how good they were.
Buffalo trace is easy to find around here (NJ/NY) but it’s like 45$ for a .75 bottle. And Rare Breed which happens to be one of my favorite bottles is up to 70-75$ now
I'd add Early Times BIB, JW Dant BIB, Larceny Small Batch or BP, Bulleit Rye, Redwood Empire Pipe Dream and anything Four Roses. Also Jameson Black Barrel 😋🥃
Eagle Rare would definitely be on the list for easy to drink bourbons. It’s just so allocated most people cant get it unless they pay way over retail.. I love it and buy it every chance i find it at a decent price point..
I’d agree with all of these picks for a beginner, although Buffalo Trace is really isn’t allocated although it can be hard to find for some reason. I’d drop that and add Woodford Reserve into this list instead of that for this reason.
We seem to have similar pallets, thus I’ve subscribed! Evan Williams is great all around bourbon, the Small Batch is currently occupying my shelf. I’m having a hard time finding their Single Barrel bottle tho.
Evan Williams has a great line up for such a great price. For years I wouldnt try it just because I thought is was a Jack Daniels knock off... Glad I finally gave it a try. Thanks for subscribing and watching....

Okay for starters, if you've had bourbon and like it you're not a beginner so it boils down now to your budget. Keep in mind single barrels vary in taste so one bottle varies from the next. So let's take the risk and get these: 1. Eagle Rare 10 2. WT Rare Breed 3. Four Roses SB 4. Makers 46 5. Old Forester 1920 & 1910 6. I don't get the problem that some areas have such a problem finding Buffalo Trace. Where I am, it's all over the place for $25, including the local Rite-Aid pharmacy. It's almost at unicorn level in some regions. Of course, here, any Old Forester is $60+. One that I might suggest for this list is good old Early Times. It's good, cheap and solid, plus you won't lose your mind if someone dumps coke or water in it.
@andrewelsie8344 Instead of coke, I actually like Buffalo Trace with a splash of Dr Pepper when I'm smoking cigars. Great pairing and those 23 flavors brings out a lot of the notes of the maduros that I like.
The first three I agree with, but Buffalo Trace frankly doesn't impress me. I honestly think that Bluff Springs, a Total Wine store brand, is significantly better, it's about the same price, and here in Albuquerque it's a ton easier to find (around here Buffalo Trace is a unicorn). I've not yet had Rare Breed - so much bourbon, so little time. 🤠
Garrison Brothers, a long tall Texan. Not for everyone, it’s spicy, leathery, oaky and more. A bit pricy due to several factors, probably mostly because the Texas heat causes a high loss to the angels share. All Texas ingredients. A little pricy at 80 bucks and up but good for a special occasion.
I find Brother's Bond Straight Bourbon Whiskey 🥃 to be very smooth with great flavour maybe that’s due to its 80 proof but I would highly recommend it for someone new trying bourbon. Cheers
@@stevenmarcyniuk8040 80 proof is a good starting point for beginners. On the Higher proof bourbons I have them first taste it neat. Then have them add a few drops of water and at the end a large cube. It interesting to see how most can taste the changes in flavor profile by doing those three steps
Rare breed doesn't belong in that list. Early times, Bulliet or Jim Beam would have been better choices. Rarebreed imo is not for noobs. Evan Williams 1783 would have been good too or 1792 small batch.
This is my opinion so don't hate lol....Evan Williams tastes and smells like Jack Daniels, and I HATE JD.I am talking about Original JD,haven"t tried the others.
Appreciate your effort, however your introduction introductory statements are redundant and you need to get to the point. At 80 years old, I don't have a lot of time left to listen to bird walking talk
i like the Elijah Craig much as i like the Buffalo Trace but i think personally the EC is more spicy but is a sweet bourbon it just isn't as sweet as Buffalo Trace i think Buffalo Trace might be a better start for beginners because it has almost zero spice! just more Sweeter and drinkable in my opinion! not saying EC isn't an easy sipper because it's an absolutely delicious bourbon it's just might be a little too spicy for beginners lol. Buffalo Trace Bourbon Palate: Fruity sweet tones with oak spice, chocolate, and coffee Nose: Mild nose of fruit sweetness with fine spice and cinnamon Color: Deep copper Finish: Medium-length finish with fruity, oak, and wood spice notes with vanilla and baking spice Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon Palate: Chocolate flavors with hints of citrus, caramel, butterscotch, and wood Nose: Chocolate aroma with clove, oak, wood, and cinnamon notes on the nose Color: Reddish brown Finish: Warm finish with subtle wood spice notes, butterscotch, vanilla, spicy black pepper, and cinnamon FAQs Is Elijah Craig small batch sweeter than Buffalo Trace bourbon? No, Buffalo Trace bourbon has a sweeter taste than Elijah Craig’s small batch, which is spicy and warm. Buffalo Trace is more beginner-friendly than Elijah Craig, as it’s a well-rounded, easy sipper with a medium to full body. It’s an excellent start for those who's not accustomed to complex and warm whiskeys. Which is better drunk straight, Elijah Craig or Buffalo Trace? Buffalo Trace is better drunk straight than Elijah Craig small batch, as it doesn’t need the addition of water or ice
Well first of all. People that are starting to drink bourbon do not drink neat.. So your opinions on how it taste neat is unless... And no beginner is gonna be able to pick out tasting notes 🤣🤣

I do not know, but on EW BIB, I get a lot of bitterness and none of sweetness.

Early Times Bottled In Bond
Bruhhhhhhh Buffy is the perfect mixer assuming you can get it. Good quality and flavor for a cheap price.
never had it. I will see if it’s available in my area
@@OneMoreBottle Buffy = Buffalo Trace in short.
@@MadeByHawkins 🦬 is great.. i have used it for Old Fashioned but not to just mix
1792,
Damn good bottle
Rare breed doesn't belong in that list. Early times, Bulliet or Jim Beam would have been better choices. Rarebreed imo is not for noobs. Evan Williams 1783 would have been good too or 1792 small batch.
My friends are beer drinking, fart throwing, meat eating neanderthals. I'm not taking a bottle of Rare Breed to their house.
Rare Breed for beginners??? Nah
This is my opinion so don't hate lol....Evan Williams tastes and smells like Jack Daniels, and I HATE JD.I am talking about Original JD,haven"t tried the others.
You should start with Wild Turkey 101

Well first of all. People that are starting to drink bourbon do not drink neat.. So your opinions on how it taste neat is unless... And no beginner is gonna be able to pick out tasting notes 🤣🤣
I do a lot of bourbon tasting events and we start neat, then I have them put a few drops of water in and last we add a cube. I do this to show how the flavor profiles change.. surprising at how many can taste the difference
