    Thank you for the information about air humidity of 50% and water absorption by vanda roots. Do you heat a garden hose to water the vanda in your garden? Isn't the water from the hose too cold even in summer when it comes from the pipes (from the inside of the earth). I'm thinking about summer time, not winter time.

    • @flowerforever2109
      @flowerforever2109  7 месяцев назад

      We don't heat a garden hose. In summer time, the water heats up fast due to the high temperature. So, the cold water will not have a big impact. If the temperature is lower than 21 celcius, it's better to use a sprayer with room temperature water.

    • @flowerforever2109
      @flowerforever2109  Год назад

      Wow, for vacation, that's a good question. I usually ask my friends to water my Vanda. Or you can ask if the nursery near your home can take care of your Vanda for 2 weeks. Our local orchid nursery provides this service. Vanda is super easy to grow. I believe your friends or families can take good care of it when you are on vacation. 😊

    How do we know the colour of the flowers while we buy in nursaries

    • @flowerforever2109
      @flowerforever2109  5 месяцев назад

      I usually buy orchids when it is blooming. I bought a few orchids with no flowers and they turned out to be different. Some nurseries keep good track of their orchids, we can trust them. But it's hard to tell. I usually go to orchid shows or nurseries and pick the ones with flowers.

    Hi I just bought a couple vanda. I live in Central Florida and it's very humid here. I soaked for about 20 minutes one of my vanda because the roots looked really dry. That one is doing great. I smoked the other vamda with large purple flowers for about 5 minutes yesterday. Today it had dropped 2 blooms and I fear its going to drop more. What can I do to prevent it from dropping?

    Thank you for your video. I learned a lot. I have questions:
    1)Which kind of water you use?
    2) our water is very hard. It's better live the water repose all night before to give them?
    3)Which is the name od your Vanda blue blue? And in Italy I can buy it?
    Thank you for answers.

      Thank you for your support. 😊
      1) We usually use filtered water with low ppm.
      2) Yes, tap water needs to be exposed overnight in order to get rid of the chlorine gas. Chlorine gas can damage orchid roots in the long term. And also, it's better to let the water sit for a while and reach room temperature before watering. If your water is too hard, I think it's better to filter it and use filtered water. If the ppm is lower than 100, that should be fine.
      3) The name of the dark blue Vanda is Vanda Pachara Delight. ☺️

      I think you should be able to buy it in Italy. I have never been there though.☺️ I really want to go there and I heard it’s a very beautiful country! If you don’t have any local orchid nurseries, maybe you can find it online. Good luck with your searching! 😊

      @flowerforever2109  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@lorellaluiginabrambilla2798 You’re very welcome! ☺️Vandas and Cymbidiums are very different in terms of culturing. Vandas like bare roots, warm temperature year round, and high humidity. Cymbidiums, however, like water retentive growing media and they need to get down to 5 Celsius in Fall in order to bloom. Regarding light, they both like indirect bright light. In Fall and winter, some direct sunlight during the day may help them to bloom since the sunlight is much weaker then. You can put them near the East, South, or West facing windows in Winter. Cymbidiums are not necessarily bloom every year. It depends on how big it is. As long as the plants are doing well, I will be very happy and I believe your cymbidium will bloom for you some day in Fall or Winter. ☺️

    Can you please explain how you treat Moss on vanda roots😅thanks

    • @flowerforever2109
      @flowerforever2109  Год назад +2

      You mean the green thing growing on Vanda roots? Most of them are algae. You can use high pressure hose water to remove it. Before using high pressure hose water, spray the roots with water and let it saturate for a few minutes.

    • @flowerforever2109
      @flowerforever2109  Год назад +1

      If it is moss, I think I just manually removed it since it is much bigger than algae. High pressure hose water should work as well. We can also give it more light and less water to prevent moss from growing. Our area is not very humid. Some humid areas, such as Florida, have perfect weather for moss and algae.

    • @flowerforever2109
      @flowerforever2109  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@PicoLatrinidad Hi, I know some people do. But we usually don't soak their roots. We spray the whole vanda every day. If your environment is dry and you see wrinkles on their leaves, that means they're dehydrated. And soaking their roots is a good option. Also, please don't use the same water to soak multiple vandas as potentially sick orchids can spread the disease through soaking in the same water.

    Ciao, sono molto arrabbiata: ho comprato in internet una Vanda sanderiana e mi è arrivata con radici secche e Malandata e con le foglie aperte a metà.
    Conciata da buttare.
    Purtroppo nei vivai non si trovano e bisogna acquistarle on line.
    Dovevo fare un regalo ed ora mi trovo senza regalo e con una pianta mezza morta.
    Speriamo riesca a farmi rimborsare e/o renderla. Per fortuna che le recensioni sul venditore erano ottime *****. Altro che cercare la tua blu. Chi si fida ancora a comprare on line è qui vicino a me non ci sono vivai esperti.
    80 euro buttati. Speriamo che con E-bay riesca a recuperare....
    Grazie per i video
