@@DavesOrchidOasis thanks for asking but I really can’t think about anything special. I just enjoy seeing your beautiful orchids. Do you belong to the Venice Orchid Society or to the Sarasota one?
I'm in Jamaica too and I see a lot of people growing vandas beautifully in pots and some people even have them in ground beds. I moved from a home with large yard space to an apartment in the city. Well all my potted vandas started wasting away. 😱😰 After several losses and a few replacements, I realized that the new hanging plants, which I accidentally had not potted yet, were rapidly developing more strong roots. Of the potted ones, I only have two left, which I've just transferred to hanging to try and revive them. My garden, by the way, is spread across my three balconies.
Hi Dave, yes, I love vanda orchids. I bought one last year and it flowered for me outside. I purchased three more this year half off since they had already bloomed. I'm hanging them on branches of my crabapple tree. Since I live in Frankfort, Kentucky sadly I will have to bring them in the house probably in mid-October. I will put them in front of a west facing window on a plant stand over the winter. Hope the weather is not too rough in your area with the hurricane. Thanks for the plant care advice, James
Hi Dave, thank you so much for this video. Going to use your tips for my vandas. When mine bloom the bloom only lasts for a week. Maybe I need to fertilize more.
Watching you Dave from 🇬🇭 Ghana, West Africa. Enjoying your videos. Very educational and inspiring. Building my vanda collection again. Thank you. Good Job!!
Watching you from South Africa, living in the Western Cape where we get winter rain but very hot summers. My orchids are in a green house and its been a learning process since I started with lo ts of trials and errors. Always something you can learn from someone else. I like your video's Dave.
Thanks for tuning in from the Western Cape! It sounds like you've got a beautiful setup for your orchids. Learning through trial and error is all part of the journey!
I’m a grower in AZ, and I grow in a greenhouse. Some of mine are potted (falcata types) but most are hanging. They do quite well here but would not survive our sun. They can grow outside depending upon where they are located but the care for them is unreal so I don’t. (Watering, I mean.) But I love them too. The flowers are magnificent!
Just straight 70% alcohol and half water in a spray bottle. Works wonders for thrifts and it just evaporates.Tada, you're done. It's probably a good idea to do it. When the sun is either going down or coming up. I have never seen anything work as good as this. It kills him on contact. And you just do it again in about a week. And that will kill the new babies that come out. Thanks for this video was very informative.! You're band is our absolutely breath. Taking. You should be very proud! This hobby is not for the faint of heart.!
Lucky you have a cage to keep your orchids. The birds gets to it before they flowers, I have to move my into a netting as it flowers. Also I need to shade it in the summer sun here in hawaii.
Are there any other orchid topics you want me to do an in-depth video on?

Probably would be very tough
What are they hanging on?
Are these sun vandas or strap vandas cause only sun vandas can take all day sun well at least here in the Caribbean

Thats a shame. I will pray those birds go away :(
I can see that they're very beautiful
Thank you. I work hard at it.
I live in the tropics. You are right. My major issue is the rain. It rains all the time. They thrive though. My issue is the fungus. Do I spray
I spray Thiomyl and Physan. I would look into them. I will do a video on them later.
I’m in Houston… I want one
Please let us know if you’re ok and how your chids fared from Milton.
I really appreciate you checking in! We’re all safe, and the kids are handling it like champs. Your kindness means a lot!
