You have an amazing collection of orchids! That vanda is huge!! Thanks for all the care tips. And if you ever want to gift any of your orchids, I'll be happy to receive them. 😂😍😃
Just found your channel. Loved it, funny and informative. Please tell us the name of the roll down panels on your Lanai. I am in southeast Florida and play the shuffle all the time during the winter. It was 48 degrees but felt like 40 last night, expected to be colder tonight. Thanks again.
Yes! People need to know about Banrot. Woulda been my #1 on the list also. I was on the verge of losing my entire collection of Australian dendrobiums when I finally learned about Banrot from Nature Nel. Wish I knew of it sooner bc my dens are still recovering from the setback 2 yrs later, but at least I still have them.
Hi Dave😌🙌Amazing, huge brassavolas🥰👏I have 3, and nodosa got a little black, deep spots, so I cut them off. I did get a lot of growth this year. They're indoors now as we expect temperatures to go way down. The nobile types and native orchids put up with Winter temperatures down to 17.6°F somehow. I've seen nobiles time and time again endure it. Yeah, cattleya black rot got one of my cattleya. Another I just hung out on the shady breezy side of the house and it actually put out two new canes🤔🙄I can safely say it's rescued. I let my new cattleya hang on mounts these days and yeah, the rot issues are in the past now hopefully🙏
Hello! Could you please recommend the best red lava rock brand available at Lowe's? I've been reading reviews; some include pictures, and the bestseller seems to be a mix of a little lava rock and gravel? I appreciate you being my eyes on the States!!
Love your channel! So informative and yes, funny too. Keep it up! Beautiful orchid oasis. And yes, how do you dispose of the bucket of “Banrot” solution?
I wish you would've qualified your statement about orchids not growing in freezing places . . . THESE types of orchids don't grow in freezing places, but there are over 200 orchids that call North America home, all the way up to Alaska, as well as whatever might grow in Europe. The presence of betaline and anthocyanin pigments also indicates the potential ability to handle temperature extremes outside of what may normally occur in a species' natural environment. I can sleep comfortably with my Cattleyas getting blasted with 35F air for a few nights as long as theyre dry, and have never once incurred cold damage from it. Just offering a different perspective so as not to scare anyone away from the hobby if they dont immediately live in a tropical place (I’m outside of DC).

With all the constant rain you had recently, how did you avoid your orchids getting crown rot?
Greetings from northern New South Wales, Australia.
I did have a lot of rot. I used Banrot at the first sign of it and it helped a lot.
healthy is the word for your orchids and happy.
Lowes is my orchid hack!

Thank you for a good tips! Would you please let me know how to get those great hurricane proofed shutters? My pool is very similar to yours. Thanks.
I can't remember the name of the company. If you search for hurricane shutter screens you will find lots. They are NOT cheap. Mine were like $20,000

dump it in the grass. It really isn't that toxic believe it or not. Doesn't hurt the grass. Mildly toxic to fish.
Banrot not available in my country 😿
Your advice is amazing...hope u saw the SHORT that I tagged you in

If your orchids could talk, they would call you " Daddy". 😂 i can see your love for them. How do you dispose off the Banrot ?
I am ashamed to say I just dump it in my backyard. Doesn't. hurt the grass or anything.
What a collection you have. I thought I was addicted to buying orchids, but you are worse 😂
