Your back ground looking so beautiful with all of your orchid flowers you really doing something right. Love watching your videos thanks for sharing happy growing ❤
Great video Dave! Tell you a secret.. when I first started watching your channel, I thought you were a bit cocky. I was so wrong, you are such a funny, nice guy. 😀
He's just a no bs kind of guy and I find it refreshing even if I don't agree with all of it or if I feel it's extreme.. the core is accurate and the passion for his plants and learning about them is very real!
Love your videos and I’m going crazy with my collection I’m 70 and I have the need of buying orchids the way you describe you passion is the way I feel about them they are helping me a lot I was a little depressed and now I feeling a lot better no medication only orchids and I’m so happy with this hobby, and my husband is helping me and happy to see me happy. Thank You for your videos and the tips .😊
New sub, attempting to save a neglected grocery store orchid. I’m not religious myself, but orchids are definitely divine, and your excellent advice is “heaven sent” so to speak. 😜 Understanding their natural habitat and hence their needs really helps a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
I repot every orchid that comes into my collection because I prefer to repot only once. I use lava rock as the medium, and when an orchid outgrows its pot, I simply place the original pot into a larger one filled with more lava rock. This way, I don't have to disturb the plant again.
It sounds like you have a great system in place! Repotting can be such a hassle, but using lava rock seems like a smart way to ensure your orchids thrive.
Thank you giving God the glory in His creation. I totally get the spiritual connection. I too find great peace in spending the time tending to what God has given us. Thanks for the confirmation. God Bless you!
Your blooms are so beautiful. Thanks again for your tips. Love your delivery; from the very first video I watched, I laughed quite a bit at your funny comments.
I have been binge watching your channel, and can see all my mistakes , so it's spring in Australia Sunshine Coast . I am going to repot all my orchids In terracotta pots & use you mix plus mount some & continue watching utube Dave u are good at getting your message across Thankyou
Hello Dave, your collection is amazing. I just hit the SUBSCRIBE button because you are my Orchid Spirit Animal! I have been collecting orchids for about 6 years now and they were always the plants I wanted to grow when I was just growing regular houseplants. I was gifted two orchid which of course once the blooms were gone, I surmised, its dead and unfortunately threw them away. After that my common sense took over and I purchased three and a beautiful hard bound how to grow orchids book and the rest is orchid history! I'm already looking forward to your next video. Happy growing to everyone and God Bless!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s great to hear about your orchid journey. They can be a bit tricky at first, but it sounds like you’ve really embraced the challenge. Happy growing!
I totally get what you're saying about this hobby being spiritual. I thank the Lord every time i come into my orchid room. They are just so magnificent! It's almost like magic... Thanks for acknowledging that.
Oh do I get you!! It started with one, and now I’m at 30! I only have space for about 5 more. Taking care of my “babies” is such a labour of love! Taking care of them and watching them thrive and grow is so very satisfying and completely fulfilling! It really is my passion too! I’ve only been passionate about orchids for a couple of years, but has always been a dream to grow them!
It's amazing to hear how your passion for orchids has blossomed! Watching them thrive truly is a rewarding experience. Keep nurturing those "babies" and enjoy every moment!
Great video. You have a beautiful collection and I think everyone can pick up some tips from you that will apply to their collection. Probably most of us can relate to most of the experiences you talk about - and you’ve got me chuckling at the fun down-to-earth way you talk about it. 😀
Your first thing of over watering and killing your orchid is the main problem that I had for years. I killed so many cattleyas that way. Thanks for all the tips Dave.
Help! I have taken your excellent advice and bought some cork pieces. I have cattleyas I will mount as soon as my order arrives, I bought the zip ties in advance. NOW I need to know where you get those hooks to hang them up please?
That’s awesome to hear you’re diving into mounting your cattleyas! You can find those hooks at your local garden center or online. They usually have a good selection for orchid hanging!
Thanks for sharing!!! I’m growing them on palms in Los Angeles we don’t have the day time humidity here but we have the night time mist I wanna call it 😂😂😂 it’s a process finally I got it to work
Props for making the christian comment because it is a spiritual experience or at least a very meaningful and beautiful life altering thing to work with orchids. Its funny you said "play with your orchids" because this is the common thing my parents and boyfriend say mostly becausethey dont care about them like i do. They dont get it haha. But they have no choice but to suffer it. Orchids really have lit a passion for me wben my wholelife i just desperately wished i had a passion. Not only that but bring brought close to nature in a very real wag can greatly humble the spirit at the vastness of beauty fhat still exists all around us. Its amazing how much better my mindset is after my time with these unique and magical plants. God is indeed a most incredible creator. Nothing compares to the natural world in this regard p.S i appreciate your blunt and sarcastic tone as i myself speak the language quite fluently. O_- -L.
I'm so glad to hear that orchids have ignited your passion! It's amazing how connecting with nature can truly transform our mindset and bring us closer to the beauty around us.
I don't repot my orchids either.. I started doing it because I was watching too many RUclips videos on it and felt like I was neglecting my plants. Needless to say, many of them died because of what I didn't know at the time was root damage, which made the plants susceptible to all sorts of problems. Some of them had a lot of sentimental value as well 😢
It's tough when we learn the hard way about plant care. Orchids can be quite sensitive, but it's great that you're sharing your experience. We all grow from our mistakes!
Your back ground looking so beautiful with all of your orchid flowers you really doing something right. Love watching your videos thanks for sharing happy growing ❤
So nice of you
True! It’s a passion for me too! Thank you, Dave!🙏🌹🙏. True you say, God’s Grace !
Great video Dave! Tell you a secret.. when I first started watching your channel, I thought you were a bit cocky. I was so wrong, you are such a funny, nice guy. 😀
Thanks for the candor. It's good for me to tone down the cockiness. My wife thinks i have too much self esteem :)

That's awesome to hear! Growing plants can be quite the journey, especially with varying humidity levels. Keep up the great work with your palms!

I am with you brother: thrips make me cry. Yesterday, I discovered the buds on my vanda killed by thrips😭😭😭😍
I'm so sorry to hear about your vanda! Thrips can be such a nuisance. Hang in there, and let's keep fighting the good fight against those pests!
Dave, I agree is addiction. I am running out of space L O L.
