6:42 That's a very nice terrarium setup for a phal in recovery. I've heard of letting the orchid soak in a weak solution of seaweed extract overnight and then staking it.
Do the leaves need to be in the water or can i just suspend the orchid with string above the water? Becuse mine has only two small leaves that are dying off and petty much no roots?
I have never tried it without the leaves being in the water, but because the phaleanopsis orchid can get its water from the air I think it should be enough to hang in high air humidity. And high air humidity is what we create in the two cups placed one on the other.
@@roxannereneeburns5953 I purchased my terrarium in a regular store where they sell glass jars with lids. It didn't come with a fan. I purchased a small 5V fan with a USB plug. To place the USB cable of the fan and the light I drilled a hole in glass lid and soldered the cables to the light and fan.
@@jenniferdas7809 depends on the concentration of the solution. If you have a 3% solution you don't have to dilute it, but higher solutions I advice you to dilute with water to a 3% solution.
Water peroxide you can purchase either in most drugstores or, in some countries, they might even sell it in supermarkets. Chemically it is H2O2 and it has a desinfecting and bleaching working. It will in time divide into H2O (water) and O2 (oxygen). Be carefull when working with it not to spill on your skin, cloths and of course be carefull it won't come into your eyes. If so clean immediately with lots of water and if necesarry get medical help. In most case they sell around a 3% solution which less agrassive. Personally I have a bottle with 35% which I dilute. This stuff is more dangerous.
@@ksrhrieber95 I have no idea. I thought the same when I saw someone doing this. Because I couldn't believe this would work I tried it myself. And it worked.
Orchid isn’t easy to take care. Thanks for the great video 😃
Indeed you need to have patience and watch them all the time. But they are so beautiful that its worth every effort.
I am happy you enjoyed the video.
@@botanicdesigns yes indeed. Thanks again 😃
Do you know how often should the water be replaced? @@botanicdesigns

Thank you Sir ,it adds more knowledge to care no roots Phalaenopsis orchids .exactly what i am looking for an answer
This is fascinating..💚 If only I'd seen this a few months ago, I'd still have my favorite phal!
Thank you for a beautiful video. I am trying to save a phal with only one good root and several waterlogged roots. It will take months!
For orchids one needs patience.
I've got two baby orchids and one has no roots at all. The leaves and shriveled and wrinkly. Im going to try this! I feel hopeful!
Did you try? Did it work?

Is the peroxide mixed with water or is it simply the stuff from the bottle?

@@botanicdesignsWe usually call it hydrogen peroxide in the US. Do you have video showing how you make the lid with the light a fan?
@@amyheckathorn7172 unfortunately I dont have a video showing the making of the lid.
why don't the leaves rot in the water
@@ksrhrieber95 I have no idea. I thought the same when I saw someone doing this. Because I couldn't believe this would work I tried it myself. And it worked.
Leaves don’t rot in water, the crown does. Crown rot is an infection that happens when bacteria gets in the crown through water, not the leaves.
