- Living in the tropics that too along the coastline can make us face many new challenges..one such is thunderstorm and rain without any warning..and when this happens some or the other orchid gets affected due to it.
Vandas especially due to their upright growing habit tend to accumulate water in between the leaves and on the crown that leads to rot and infection.
In this video I jave shown how rot in Vandas look like.Rot of this sort could either be bacterial or fungal.(Erwinia or phytophthora species).
I treat my vandas without using any toxic fungicides by aggressively removing affected tissue and by spraying Hydrogen peroxide thoroughly and applying powdered cinnamon on the soft spots and on the cut ends..check out the video for more details.

Thanks .....😂
How do you save orchids without spraying fungicide during monsoon ? Specially when it is raining continuously and humidity is too high.
Hello ma'am,
The leaves of one of my Vanda orchid seedlings are wrinkles,
It's mounted on a piece of wood n I water it well, the root r also very healthy...
What could be the reason for this ?
Great video as always!! 😇I spotted two spikes on my Vanda(First ever spikes)this morning. However, the 1 inch spikes are surrounded by many red ants. Are they harmful? If yes, please tell me on how to get rid of those red ants from spikes🙏
Mam how much time takes the seedlings orchids will bloom
Mam , why the bottom leaves of my vanda orchids are falling down?
What is the formula using hydrogen peroxide
What is the percentage and how many ML to be added to 1L
If its of 3% strength(commonly available in med store) then use as it is ...no need to dilute...
Mam does orchids love rain,as it is raining in mumbai so can I take inside or let it be outside
That depends on the media your orchids are potted in. If it is a water retentive one like coconut husk, it’s better to take them in. If it is in charcoal or lava rock or tile pieces, keeping them in the rains up to 2 days wouldn’t hurt, as the media is well draining and there is no water collecting at the crown of the plant.
How to use 6% Hydrogen peroxide in orchids MAM?
You have to dilute with equal volume of water to reduce concentration to 3%....
