You are the Queen of Orchids! Without question. I tried and threw all in Dumpster. They do require a lot of attention. Obviously you have time and you love what you do. Queen Orchid Lady!
Thank you Danny for your wonderful videos ! Until recently, I didn't want to own an orchid because I always killed them ! however, I am an avid gardener & wondered why I couldn't seem to keep them alive. That's when I found your videos. Thank God ! I have watched several videos now and feel much more confident. I have learned a lot. I do want to comment on treating infections--- I noticed that I have crown rot on a new orchid that was given to me. I may have caused it by poor watering practice. You showed how to apply cinnamon with a napkin (different video)--- napkin doesn't work well. This video shows you using a Q-tip. In using napkin, I couldn't control where cinnamon landed. Thanks again for all your hard work teaching us.
+DynamicDarren Correct, that is why I pour it in that small spray bottle and leave the rest in the original dark bottle it comes with :) I'll keep it in mind to mention in the next video, although it does say it on any hp bottle label :)
A helpful video! Is it useful to control pests too? I often have problems on silvering leaves, especially at the bottom side while the upper side remain green. What should i do with this silvering leaves? Should i remove it?
hi Dani I'm always watching your tutorial I'm learning a lot now I'm in trouble maybe I bought sick orchids from a friend.as I can see white powder in they're leaves everywhere.theyre blooming now but I think think they're dying sorry
Thanks for sharing the details ..PL let me know how many times should you spray hydrogen peroxide and at what interval.. thanks..Its urgent as my Vanda is loosing leaves too fast
Hi Danni, thank you for the link that you mentioned. I had a brief glance at it and I can see how informative and helpful it will be for me in the future. Great job. Love your channel.
Great video, thank you! You recommend taking steps to make sure that the water evaporates as quickly as possible. Some people recommend spraying orchids with water once in a while because they enjoy the humidity. But would you recommend not spraying with water (unless living in a extremely dry climate)?
Hi, I personally don't find real benefits in misting and yes I would definitely be more cautious in environments that don't promote fast evaporation, or unventilated, still environments :)
should I keep a sick orchid separated from the rest or just on the edge row will be ok( a bit on the side)??Also should we cut the leaves when the orchid has only a few of then? Thanks!!!!!Love your videos.
+Jackie Fu True, that is why I pour it in that small spray bottle and leave the rest in the original dark bottle it comes with :) I'll keep it in mind to mention in the next video, although it does say it on any hp bottle label :)
Question: Do you dilute your 3% hp with water? I am guessing not since you did not mention it but before I do this to my orchid, I wanted to be sure. Thanks Danni.
I have watched this video several times trying to save my Wils. Eye Candy 'Pinkie'. It came to me in September 2017 in full bloom and was absolutely beautiful. I decided to repot it on October 14, 2017 and used an Oncidium blend medium. It is in a clear, slotted orchid pot which sits inside a clay pot. While I was repotting it, I got an urgent call and had to leave while in the repotting process. The roots looks good so I did not use hydrogen peroxide on the roots before putting it in the pot. I did water it from the top at the sink and left it there while I was gone. After that it was watered by soaking the pot. Suddenly on December 28, 2017 I noticed a black spot on the edge of the leave that turned yellow as it got to the healthy tissue. Within 24 hours the entire leaf turned and another had a spot. I removed the entire bad leaf and the damage of the second leaf. I treated the cut with cinnamon and sprayed all of the leaves with hydrogen peroxide 3% and sat in a room with a ceiling fan. She was looking great and then it happened again on February 19, 2018. I repeated this treatment and now it's happening again for the third time, 3/3/18. I am at a loss. Do I need to treat the medium as well, or remove it from this medium? I have photos, but didn't know how to attach them. ~ Thank you, Connie
I have an orchid that was given to me very sick and I’m trying to save it. However I don’t know if I can is there anyway I can send you a picture of this orchid so you can tell me what I need to do for it.
Hi, Danny. I think I have a sick orchid, but I'm not sure. I wish I could send you a picture of it. Also, could supstrate be causing leaves rot? Thanks in advance, Vesna
Hi Danny, sorry to boder you, but I need your opinion. Like four weeks ago, I started to notice this spot on one of my orchids leaves, it is brown surrounded by yellow, it started on the tip of the leave. I think is growing slowly, I know I saw another spot more in the center on the same leave. I have another orchid and the tip is yellow. At the beginning, I thought it was sunburn or intense light damage, so moved them away from window (South face and sun is coming back) then thought it could be spider mites, but only this leave has the damage, I've been spraying a solution with water, dish soap and alcohol and don't see that is working. Can it be fungal infection? I am attaching a link to photo bucket so you can see, but the lesion is now bigger and more brown. Thank you Danny. I want to save this orchid and don't want the problem spreads to my other phalaenospsis. i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6095_zpsen7c4zrp.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6264_zpsyctosvdf.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6266_zpsq8rkovtf.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6267_zps6o509wo0.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6268_zpszaf2awsr.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6269_zpsffveagn4.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6271_zpsnrxsevux.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6272_zpsjvih0fpp.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6274_zpsnnmepody.jpg i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss23/contactj07/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_6278_zpsbwafi6dh.jpg Here are all the pictures I have with problems in leaves. Hi, the cinnamon should be available in any market, at the cookies section.. or baking section :p where spices like vanilla and stuff are. Take a better look, just any super market or store.
Ciao!
Thank you one of the orchids I have just got cheap has this and I shall treat it straight away 😊 the lady in the store reduced them to £1 each as she thinks they are doomed! How silly she is!
The normal hydrogen peroxide that can be purchased at your local pharmacy store (or wherever) is already a 3% dilution. Use that straight out of the bottle.
Oh, well, you didn't say that in your first post. Now I understand your question. The answer is "yes," you may dilute the hydrogen peroxide further by adding water. The ratio to dilute it to achieve a 3% solution would be 1:1. Good luck!
You are the Queen of Orchids! Without question. I tried and threw all in Dumpster. They do require a lot of attention. Obviously you have time and you love what you do.

If my orchid survives, then you’re a miracle worker :)
I have a black thumb but my MIL keeps buying me flowers...living ones.
Wonderful job of presenting this
Thanks for the tips! FYI: Hydrogen peroxide degrades in the presence of light. You might want to use an opaque spray container to keep it fresh.

Ciao!
all leaves on my orchid or yellow. They have red spot on it...
hello. thanks for a great channel. what type of Alcohol do you use? thanks again :-)
+Madelene Englund Hi, I use ethanol but if you have isopropile use that one better
MissOrchidGirl okey, thank you for your fast answer, I'm going to shop later today and I'm gonna by it :-D
Thank you one of the orchids I have just got cheap has this and I shall treat it straight away 😊 the lady in the store reduced them to £1 each as she thinks they are doomed! How silly she is!
Do you use full strength hydrogen peroxide
Hi, if it's 3% then yes :)
If it is 6percent, then how to use it?
Hii , have u ever had a jade plant?? :-)
+12109babygurl ow wow yes I did, about 20 years ago hehe :P it's a succulent right?
MissOrchidGirl aww cool and yes it's a succulent :-)
Hydrogen peroxide will oxidize in clear bottle. Just put spray muzzle in the brown bottle of Hydrogen peroxide
Did u used the hydrogen peroxide with adding water or only alone.
The normal hydrogen peroxide that can be purchased at your local pharmacy store (or wherever) is already a 3% dilution. Use that straight out of the bottle.
Miss Havisham but my.dear nothing 3% available in my country I looked for it all available is 6% so am asking can I add some of water.thanks
Oh, well, you didn't say that in your first post. Now I understand your question. The answer is "yes," you may dilute the hydrogen peroxide further by adding water. The ratio to dilute it to achieve a 3% solution would be 1:1. Good luck!
Miss Havisham thanks very much God bless you
