How to Save Facebook Messenger Messages as PDF

- To download Facebook Messenger Messages to save as PDF or to print, you need to access facebook.com from a computer.
Once you log in, click on settings and go to download my information.
Deselect everything and only choose messages.
Select a rate range and leave everything on high-quality media.

I’m, unfortunately, in the same position and would love to do likewise with my brother’s Messenger communication. Unfortunately, even though I’m using Chrome, I’m not seeing the same options as displayed in the video.

I appreciate that this video doesn't go on and on and on with a super-long essay wasting my time before getting to the goods. And even though it's a couple years old, the steps are more or less the same, so it's still helpful.

This will be invaluable and so much easier than the copy and paste I already did as it wasn't very clean, images were all overlapping text. I needed my entire conversation with my wife from a year ago and your video was helpful and saves a lot of time. Thank you for the upload - however when i logged into facebook and went to settings and my information like the video suggests i had to request a copy of my information to be downloaded before i could copy to my pc. Nonetheless this video is very helpful, thank you

Unfortunately, this doesn't work anymore. Facebook removed Messenger chat from the list of information you can backup.

Since all the files are in HTML is there a way to put them back together with photos? When you print them in PDF to the pictures get put in sequence where they came from if there was any pictures within the messages
thanks for this it worked... except when I go to print the saved PDF file has the Facebook Header on top of every page and it covers some of the messages. I've tried adjusting margins etc and nothing seems to work. Any thoughts?
Also (see my previous comment) (below, I hope) I had to go through a number of other things to do this, and then after all of that, I could not find the .pdf file on my laptop in documents or downloads when using details view and selecting by date and finding today's date. I hope you can help me with this. Perhaps you could add a comment to this current video to refer us to an updated tutorial video. I will check back on this video soon. THANKS!
It doesn't look like this process works any longer. You can download profile but not messages. By chance do you have an update?

I've followed the steps to downloading my messenger messages and when I access the page that has the list of names for me to choose from that is where the problem happens. I click on a name and I get, "file can't be found". I've tried it in the c:/users, the html file under the name and under the data folder and even on my hd where I downloaded the zip file. No where can I open the html. I still get the "file not found". any ideas on how to fix this?

Actually, I found a problem, not with your description, but with the process itself. The pdf contained the photos that I had uploaded, but it did not contain the photos that my friend had uploaded. This seems to be a general feature of the Facebook print or save. Messenger apparently saves the photos and references them. But, if they're not on my computer, they don't show the photo. I'll have to research this question further.
You are correct; FB says it won't attach anything user linked or images. Darn, I wanted those too to complete the conversation.

@@ronaldb1656 Sorry, goofed and I misunderstood your comment actually. You are right and I haven't been able to find any other workaround for the other user's links or images other than what I had been doing before this...just selecting the whole chat in Messenger and pasting into a Word or Libre document. It works for all but it leaves images hanging a bit off the left margin and wastes a ton of space.

Simple search for my username "J H" finds all. For me on PC, my long info reply shows up just below this primary comment as another independent comment to the video.

Excellent tutorial. However, is there a way to format oldest to newest? I downloaded a convo but its going from newest to oldest meaning you'd have to scroll all the way to the end and read up to follow. Thx

what software app are you using to put the circle around your cursor? Mac or PC (i have a Mac)

similarly, the main and only html page that was called 'start_here' doesn't let me click on any of the messages because i get the following error:

So, where do you find the file you created, and how do you do this on a PC version of messenger?
