Being a total novice I loved this Vid. We don't have many Prickly things that thrive in the Scottish climate, except Thistles and Highland Cattle. So this will be a real challenge. HaHa! Looking forward to an update.

Thanks for stopping by.! There will not be an update. I had a mealy bug problem. I think I have one left, which is sad, but it was best to get rid of the plant so it didn’t spread to my other ones.

I bought some ferrymorse seeds from Walmart but they don’t say what type they have so I guess I’ll have to see once they grow

I’m so happy I found this video! It’s cool to see that it’s possible, and what progress they might make. I got some mystery cactus seeds that the packet said would include, but aren’t limited to giant saguaro, Joshua tree, barrel cactus, and agave plant : ) Fingers crossed! 🤞
Also, if you’re interested in the pronunciations, Cholla is choy-ya like in “tortilla “and saguaro is sa-waar-o (the middle syllable is like “are” but with a w) 😂 It’s funny being from Arizona how I grew up with these words, but they’re so tricky phonetically(Gilla is a fun one to hear people say too 😋)

You’ll recognize the Saguaro as these guys!! 🌵🌵🌵No clue what varieties there are though, some take 10 years to grow to be an inch! Also! Just a fun fact about chollas, they can be crazy! (They take forever to grow, but) one type is called the jumping cactus because it’s spines are needle sharp, and it has segments that detach with very little pressure, making it appear as if the cactus had jumped out at people! I don’t envy those who have experienced that...

@@dianemummvideos I’m starting to see tiny little spines on some of them now!! There are about 21 now, and most of them are about the size of pencil erasers : )

Hello, great video. I’m still kind of clueless about growing so this is my first attempt lol. Does it matter what kind of soil I use? I just have some organic container mix from Better Homes & Gardens.

HI Angel, to have the best success make sure the soil does not stay too wet .. I have used other mixes just fine but kept on the dry side when they germinated.. they seem to handle better when they are small.. if you can find some sand, perlite or pea gravel to mix in would help
