  • (◕ᴗ◕✿) Growing cacti from seed is easy and rewarding! It takes knowing a few guidelines and a lot of patience, but not much else (besides seeds.)
    We're planting the Mammillaria Haagenea seeds harvested in my last video ( • How to Harvest Seeds f... ) and taking a look at some progress from a few other seedlings I've started this year including Echinocactus grusonii 'Golden Barrel,' Mammillaria haageana, and Aloe maculata. I've included several macro shots.
    Cactus mix recipe and sources: sucsforyou.com/...
    Close-up of M. haagenana progress: 05:09
    Sowing demo starts: 07:06
    TLDW: Start seeds in a plastic tray with drainage and cactus soil. Cover with 1/4" of sifted dirt. Keep humid. Water gently and daily, or when the soil dries out.

    Well.... I find myself back here again for more cactus info. You inspired me to give it a go. I spotted some cactus seed at Home Depot and snagged a pack of Ferry Morse. I think there were 10 whole seeds in the pack. :P Anyway....I did as you instructed and low and behold one of them came up, and I am thrilled. Today I was afraid I may have transplanted it too soon but I couldn't wait. I now have it on my eastern kitchen window seal. It already has some little spikes which for some weird reason.... thrills me. My wife laughed at me when I excitedly called her in to see the spikes. I was, "you don't think that's cool?" She smiled and walked off. At any rate....thanks for the wonderful info. Now...I have to get online and find a better source for seed....one out of 10 ain't that great but it made me smile. :)

      Actually, sadly to say, I am not sure how Instagram even works, Lol !! I want to ask a question, not sure if its ok to ask here, but can you recommend any quality places to buy seeds ? I started out on ebay, then come to RUclips to get more facts on how to grow !! I am not sure about buying seeds from ebay because so much come from other countries.. Only if you don't mind, could I get your opinion ? Lol..! I am not sure if you get anything from these particular seed companies, but it would be a great way for you to get free items for mentioning their company... I have no idea, but I am new to the cactus game, just started last year, killed them all !! So this is why I search out information via RUclips !! Thanks, I enjoy your channel ! I seen to many that just have music playing while the plant, transplant etc... but No Info like you give out !! Blessings to you sweetie, June

    For me, it's easier and more uniform to sift the final layer directly over the seed trays.
    I've also had really good luck with and without using a top layer...try both and see what works for you.

    I am grossly confused over the components of soil. There are so many variations of the components on RUclips that I need your valuable suggestions. I cannot get perlite where I stay. I have vermicompost, coco peat, river sand and garden soil. Please help me with the component composition. Also, can I keep the container uncovered. I live on the outskirts of Kolkata.

    • @SucsForYou
      @SucsForYou  4 года назад

      For seeds you can use a combination of the river sand and garden soil since seedlings need more moisture than mature succulents. I would still keep the container covered until they germinate :)

    My stepdad just bought me some "succulent seeds" from Wish, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to attempt growing them? Wish is pretty riddled with scams so I'm honestly doubtful that these seeds are what they claim to be but I figured I'd give it a go anyway, as they were a gift, and I don't want to tell my stepdad that I don't think they're actually succulent seeds. They claim to be that 'spiral grass succulent', but I know nothing about it or how to try to grow it. Also, if they're not the spiral grass succulent seeds, what are they likely to actually be?

    • @SucsForYou
      @SucsForYou  6 лет назад

      Follow the same method as in the cacti seedling video. Who knows if they're legit, but it sounds like they are Albuca spiralis maybe

    It is amazing how succulents will rebound after being in harsh environments.

      Tell me about it!! We've had a major hurricane, snow, and a hard freeze - keeping me on my toes but the plants just keep proving their tenacity to live :)

      One of my 30+ year old Jades had almost 99% freeze damage to it. I had to cut most everything off down with just a small amount of trunk left. recently I just noticed new growth toward the bottom. Will do a video soon.

    Latin is a dead language. NOBODY speaks it anymore. You will probably be able to find people that say that they know how to pronounce Latin words correctly, but I really don't think they will have any better idea than you or I do about how to pronounce Latin words. So don't worry about your pronunciation. You're probably doing just as good a job is anybody could do.
