    That's very nice of them to send this all to you. I went a bit overboard starting seeds around the start of the year and have a bunch of the same ones you received. The lizard skin should be super cool.
    One little tip I picked up from a Thai grower is to top your seedling containers with a thin layer of coco coir. Just enough to keep the surface a bit more moist and cover any rocks.
    Best of luck! Looking forward to updates.

      Oh, thank you so much for the tip on the coco coir. I should try that sometime. Yes, I’m excited on the Copiapoa lizard skin. I’ve seen it full grown and it looks strangely interesting.

    Now that's a lot of great plants in those little baggies!!! I've seen ads for plants and seeds out of Serbia, but wasn't sure how good this would be from out of country. I got scammed from China on sulcorebutia raushii seeds. My order from Italy just took too long and one cereus spirals out of two died not long after arriving. So many great species of cacti!! Show us when they sprout!!! Great demonstration of preparing for planting of the seeds 👍 makes sense using small particle soil for them!!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🍀🌻🌱🌾🥀🌿🌷💐🌴🌹🌳🪴🌸😃👍

      I know there are a lot of scammers especially from eBay, especially on seeds. So sorry you experienced those, Clyde. So far it has been 2 weeks since I sowed these seeds and 6 out of 8 already germinated. Crossing my fingers I’m not growing peppers. 😁 Just kidding, they look like cactus seedlings. 😉

    • @morrisparkintheozarks6831
      @morrisparkintheozarks6831 Год назад

      @@jimmyna5644 First off, it's something I won't do again!! You have to make sure they have sanitary paperwork to prove they are able to enter the county , if not, the plant or plants will be destroyed at customs!! Many overseas sellers dont care if it makes it or not!! They will send it anyway without the proper paperwork. DESTROYED!!! Second, it takes a while for them to make it here, so a long time in a box, drying, bare root, no sun. It took well over a month to get my cereus spirals from Italy. And one died immediately after arrival. Still have one. Some people do this as a business and do well buying from good sellers. Don't ever buy from China!!! They talk a good show, but will rip you off!! I ordered from there once, that's what I got!! Was supposed to be a cactus, got some kind of seeds that were not cactus!!! Some kind of weeds. So be careful!! A lot of bad out there!!! I stay in country with purchases from now on!! Thanks for watching!!! Hope this helps. From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful week ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌴🌿🌳🌸🌷🌾💐🌱🌹😃👍

    If you have access to a big pot and thermometer i would suggest pasteurizing instead of sterilizing.
    Not only does sterilizing kill any good bugs, but it also leaves a fresh field for ANY bacteria/fungus, and typically its the bad ones that grow FAST, preventing the good guys from getting a foothold

    Many thanks Ana, great video, very interesting and nice to see! Indeed, I use a very similar method, as I am a bit lazy too, haha! I noticed however that you use a lot more organic material in your soil mix, do you ever have algae or moss development due to that, or is that not an issue for you? Thanks again for sharing, have a wonderful day and lot's of cactus greetings out to you in Las Vegas, from my little cactus greenhouse in Germany!😊👍🌵🌱🌵🏵🌺

      Moss is not a problem so far for me. I control the amount of sun that the seedlings are exposed to. Usually, the seedlings turn pink first before moss grows so that is my sign that it’s getting too much sun. Once the bag is opened, we have such low humidity here that moss don’t get a chance to grow on top. As a matter of fact, moss hardly grows here in the desert. 🤣 Haven’t seen them here ever.

      I do many of my seed sowing during winter. As long as you keep them indoors, they should be fine. Germination and growth may take a little longer, but they will still grow. Just keep them away from the cold draft from the window.

    Hello Ana,
    I don't know what are the cacti seeds prices in USA, but for EU standards these are extremely overpriced (especially since dealership is in non-EU country). I can remember at least 5 well-respected cacti seeds dealerships in Europe out of the top of my head where you can order seeds for 3-4 times lower prices. Also, I'm interested if you were provided with Phytosanitary Certificate which is obligatorily needed in international trade?
    Best regards,
    Nino

    WARNING!!!! DO NOT MICROWAVE SOIL!!! There are SOME soils that are okay but the majority of soils contain minerals that instantly fry and kill your microwave! I did not know this and just followed these steps and had to replace my microwave because it killed it instantly! I talked to the service people at the store when buying a new one and they told me never to microwave soil because you can't tell if it's going to have the wrong types of minerals.

    • @oldkingcrow777
      @oldkingcrow777 Год назад +2

      This isnt a thing haha
      You may have an unnaturally high amount of iron but I highly doubt it. I've microwaved steel/aluminum so much as a curious kid fascinated by the lightning it formed and it never broke the machines.
      I can't think of a single mineral that would "break" your microwave.
      You shouldn't sterilize soil because the good germs help seedling germination and growth, but I don't know if I wanna risk expensive/rare seeds testing if a soil has an imbalance of fusilium or whatever the damping off bacteria is called

    • @itsjustahaze
      @itsjustahaze Год назад +1

      @@oldkingcrow777 Yea it's interesting when I looked online I saw some people say it's killed their microwave but apparently there are a lot of people that use it fine.. But I did see a lot of people also say don't sterilize it! My dad also told me he killed his once microwaving dirt.. We do have a lot of red clay out here so It may just be really high in iron I'll get a test ran. thank you!
