People need to learn to be patient. Nintendo is against crunch and they rebooted the entire game and the pandemic hit. They were still hiring new people to help last year. When it’s ready it’ll be shown. Kinda silly to think they would forget about a game that has cost them so much wasted money from scrapping everything.

I'm buying it on the eShop just to have it in the morning and then I'm getting a boxed copy too in case my cousin wants to borrow it.
I think there's a very good chance it'll do just that. This games looks to be fire.
I really hope it will be. The franchise needs it desperately and the switch has a massive mainstream audience that the game is hoipefully appealing at.
But sadly, topping the sales in the Metroid Franchise isn't very hard. The majority of Metroid games sold significantly less than even miserably 1 million copies and those that are above 1 million barely hit above that. Metroid Prime from the Gamecube and the original NES Metroid are sold the most with 2,84 and 2,73 million units, which is a massive gap to the other games.
Just to put those numbers into perspective. The entire Metroid franchsie sold roughly 15 million copies, which is about equal to just Super Mario Party. Which is one of the worse games on the switch. The majority of good and small indie games are sold to bigger numbers that most Metroid games and there are even small little indie games hat sold significantly more than the entire franchsie.
It's not like the Metroid games are bad or something, they are really good for the most part. Definitely better or at least equal like some other major Nintendo games. It's just that they really never have done any proper marketing for Metroid, which is the most important aspect for a kind of niche franchsie like that. I really hope for at least 10 to 15 million units sold but I really have no idea how realistic it is for an relatively unknown franchsie.

you can also directly move from sliding to morph ball.
Lots of new tricks integrated into this one. Should be a fantastic return to the 2D version of the franchise. I've only been waiting a decade or so ;P

I hope this game is really great but Super Metroid has reigned supreme when it comes to official 2d Metroid games for a long time and has set the bar very high, but we will see come October, would be great if you're correct in this assessment.

@@The_Muznick Super is almost 30 years old by now and Metroid didn't really have a lot of chances since then to surpass it. Remakes aside, there was only Fusion and that's almost 20 years old itself. A lot has happened since then and chances are good Dread will be the new best one in the series.
@@Ray_2112 I like said, I want this to be the case, but you have to look at it from all perspectives, story seems like an easy win given how simple the Super Metroid story is, but when it comes to exploration and freedom, how open is the game. What really hurt Fusion a bit for me was how linear it was up until the end. Super Metroid just let you wander about and sort of figure it all out. There's a lot to consider and from what we have seen so far Dread is looking promising, but remember people were also very excited about Cyberpunk (yes there is no chance we will get that sort of shaft from Nintendo but CDPR tanked their reputation with a single botched release, so we have to acknowledge its happened before, also the guy at the head of this game is the one responsible for Other M)

This is probably the best Metroid game ever made, after beating this, I can say that with full confidence.
I see people asking for more of the Metroid Dread Special Edition. Could we also get more of the Amiibos while we're at it?

They actually love it when you are pissed about missing the special edition. Because then you’ll go online and complain/talk about it.

You know what, Everybody has their opinions on different 2d Metroid titles, and that's ok, because I like several titles like Super Metroid, Zero Mission, Fusion & Samus Returns which was made by the same studio who is making Dread a total reality.
The sequel to my favourite Metroid game is actually happening… this feeling is incredible! Thank you Nintendo and Mercurysteam for making this a reality 🥺🙏

Never played a metroid game. Then I watched happy console gamer talking about how excited he was and going into the lore it made me try super metroid and now I'm hooked! Really excited for metroid dread

can you play this on the switch lite ?
Switch Lite is just a Switch in permanent portable mode, not a different console. Only games where joycon motion controls are mandatory can be an issue (Super Mario Party, 1-2 Switch, RingFit Adventure, etc...) as you would have to sync a pair of joycons to your Switch Lite inorder to play those games.

On the back cover you will see 3 symbols. Switch with TV for TV play, switch with 2 joycons infront of it for tabletop play, and a Switch with controls attached/Switch Lite for handheld mode.
If the one for handheld mode is faded out / crossed out / etc... it means that joy con motion controls are required. The games are still playable portable (as the tabletop option IS still portable) just you cant play the game with the attached/fused controls.
So if you see the handheld option faded/crossed out, you will need to have a pair of joycons to sync to your Switch Lite, and (if you dont have something to prop the Switch Lite against) a playstand to hold the Switch Lite.
As far as I know, there are no games that are TV play ONLY.
I have played Zero Mission on my Wii U and just passed Samus' Returns on my 3Ds, now im playing Super Metroid. (Its my first time playing all the metroid games)

Other M may be the black sheep of the Metroid franchise but I agree with you, we need it on the switch along side the superior Metroid V.
@@azurecorviknight4189 The Other M is basically Ninja Gaiden 3, unfortunately. But I'm sure that it would still play a whole lot better with the joycons than it did with the Wiimote. Controls were probably my biggest complaint about that game.

People clearly are willing to buy 2D games it’s moreso how appealing is 2D Metroid to the masses.
@@Deletetarek I sort of agree, but I don't like evoking Mario because I don't think that's realistic. Third part games are a better comparison IMO. While games like Stardew Valley show the 2-D genre is certainly alive, the most popular Metroidvania games recently (Hollow Knight, Ori, Bloodstained, Axiom Verge) top out in the 2-3 million copies sold range. I'd be disappointed if Dread doesn't get in that range, especially with the install base of Switch at this point.

They have never marketed their games as hard as Metroid Dread. They are extremely confident that the game is very good.
