I´m from Sweden, but I find this song to be so universal for all humans in the World and I love to here it in Welsh also. Music realy makes people come together Let´s take care of eachother... sorry if I misspelled...
It sure is. The group ABBA was/is still a national treasure there in Sweden, too, and you and your fellow countrymen have every right to be proud of them and their awesome work, and sound!!!
I've heard 3 of the 4 soloists on other videos and I know they're incredible, but I didn't know what to expect from the final soloist. I can tell you I didn't expect to get chills. What a powerful and beautiful voice he has!
These young men are such good singers that unlike pop singers they don't have to hold the microphone against their mouths. You only see that in very good singers like opera singers. Good job, Tim.
Are there words to describe this post? The four soloists were a-maz-ing! No.4 was outstanding. I'm sure that I'm 3x his age, but oh, for his voice in our church choir, of a Sunday Morning! Simply superb: Backing vocals, an' all !
No man, no madness Though their sad power may prevail Can possess, conquer, my country's heart They rise to fail She is eternal Long before nations lines were drawn When no flags flew when no armies stood My land was born And you ask me why I love her Through wars death, and despair She is the constant We who don't care And you wonder why I leave her But how I cross over borders but I'm still there now
The last gentleman who sang solo is a light tenor. That's the quality of tenor voice needed in a big singing group in order that the rest of the voices can be equally heard!
Lovely performance. Since these young men burst out onto the world in BGT, singing Calon Lan, this American, meaning me, has learnt that song, in Welsh. Was a bit rough at first, but I did it. Also, in the 2 years since BGT, is very nice to see these young people evolving. Different looks from 2 years ago and much more confidence. I do think the blond young man and the more robs young man…had the most distinct voices. Very good job, singing a song, written in Swedish then translated into English and then translated into Welsh! Bravo to the group of them!
A while back I just said one word would describe this pure singing and my one word was "Enchanting", okay that word is still good but no words can fullly describe these magic lads. They are just pure beauty in singing and bring pure joy to my ears
Just Wonderful. Thanks for putting this online. Hope to see and hear more. I see old faces from britains got talent here. How nice they are still there.
Another for my bucket list " Attend to Only boys aloud concert " once the concert finished for sure I will need medical assistance ! :) love you guys! A fan from Puerto Rico !
I am so happy when I see another video uploaded that I haven't heard before. I love the job you do Tim! The young men you are teaching will be able to use this gift the rest of their lives and if it keeps them from the streets and possibly an early death, God bless you and all who have had the opportunity to sing for you. I can tell you that I am from the center of the U.S. and LOVE YOU AND ALL THE BOYS I HAVE LISTENED TO!
Ever since I followed their mega-successful appearance on BGT through RUclips, I fell in love with OBA. I've been following them ever since (all the way from Nebraska-USA). Their newest video and audio releases are truly fantastic; and, although I am not a Brit (let alone Welsh), I feel proud of their accomplishments. As a musician, teacher & performer, I can say to them with confidence: BRAVO GUYS...YOU DESERVE ALL YOUR SUCCESSES! And, a BIG congratulations to their 'exceptional' director!
I am quite surprised, though, that the audience did not give them a standing ovation, after that performance. If it were me, there, they definitely would have had me on my feet, applauding and calling for an encore!!! Wow.....
Just listened to the musical soundtrack version from Broadway, beautiful song and lyrics in English. Worth a listen-to if you want to know what they are singing, in English.
The boys were singing live on television and in order for the schedule to be kept the audience were asked to keep seated until the very end of the concert. The boys received a well earned standing ovation lasting many minutes once the broadcast was over.
I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing the available RUclips clips of the wonderful talents of these Welsh lads. After listening to them all - with a tear in my eye - I am proud to say that I am a Welsh descendant musician living in Australia. You are so wonderful - Only Boys Aloud !
Fantastic boys!! As a swede i love this this!! i think and hope Bjørn and Benny from Abba liked it too!? I superfinish from the "last boy", the tenor, fantastic!!!!
A choir... with 136 plus soloists! Can it get any better than that? I think not! A choirmaster must pick single or groups of various (non-trained) voices in this case, and create the notes, harmonies, and tones he needs, to come up with the end results that he presents to the audiences. Tim, your musical instincts are genius!
you are an amazing choir! Congratulations to the four soloists... when the first guy started he was so perfect that I felt that the others wouldn't be able to top him, but unbelievably they did... each one of you had a lovely tone and the sound was perfectly controlled, with power and energy, without being forced. Particularly the last soloist, when you opened up on the big notes, I got goosebumps! I look forward to seeing what you guys do next.
Walter Bravo, the last soloist is Ben Bateman, a notable young voice talent from Resolven, Wales (a tiny, impoverished place near Port Talbot-Swansea at the Bristol Channel).
Wish I knew these boys’s names. One is Tom Hier and I think one is Ben. Just would like to know if any of them besides Tom has gone on to a musical career. They’re incredible. I’ve started to think I can speak Welsh 😊
There is no other way for the boys to sing Anthem from Chess except to sing it with conviction. It is dedicated to a Russian chess player, who was emotionally torn between love of the game, i.e., Chess, for which the West will allow him to defect, and his extreme love of his country, Russia, which makes him sad if he leaves his homeland!
i like this song even though i know nothing about this language (not English) ^^ Hope the choir will put on the performances in Hong Kong one day in the future! Cannot wait!
You are very fortunate to live there. I hope to one day tour all of the UK, but especially so Wales. I have an acquaintance who lives in Cardiff, who I would dearly love to visit again. He came to my city on Easter Sunday several years ago and we spent the day together. It was a special day, and he graced me with a gift of the Welsh flag for showing him around. Be proud of your heritage!!!
I AM ALL FOR THESE YOUNG WELSHMEN SINGING. TOO BAD THE ENGLISH DON'T KNOW HOW TO BETTER MICROPHONE THESE TALENTED CHORISTERS. HAVE THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP & THEY SOUND AS IF THEY ARE A CITY BLOCK AWAY.
The big guy sings like an angel, wow, wow, wow. Excellent group!
That bigger fellow at the end, props and respect!
The last soloist is so stunning!

These boys are gems.
Marvellous boys.......
Don't understand a word, but oh my, their voices are amazing, just beautiful
The last soloist...OMG you are gooood! keep it coming! :)
The last soloist is amazing !!!

That was, without a doubt, the most beautiful, moving piece of music I've heard in a very long time! Thank you!!
These boys have such beautiful voices I am amazed that some of them are not more famous as individuals.
+Donald Edward the first soloist Tom Hier is now appearing in the west end
What can I say but MAGNIFICENTLY chillingly beautiful. Shivers ran down my spine. What voices, what a choir ! Thank you all
No man, no madness

I hope that their future will turn lucky because of their lovely voices!
Thank. God for. Tim. Rhys he has done marvellous work with the boys. It is lovely to hear them.

Another superb performance from these amazing boys (voices).
This brings me to a moment of life thank you guys
It makes sense to have Ben sing "Anthem", It was his signature song. Nice to see Hywel involved as well.
you sure can say that again & they are really good too.

The Welsh language is fucking beautiful! I would rank it right up with Italian for romantic song potential! What a gorgeous language man! Seriously...

Let mans petty nations tear themselves apart
My land's only borders lie around my heart

None of the lads in the choir are related to any of Only Men Aloud, soloists do vary according to performances.
Musique magnifique, et des jeunes gens très enthousiastes ! Que sont-ils devenus ? Chantent-ils encore ?
A welsh version? So pretty!
Fy hoff band cymraeg
