  • Welcome FLocers (fellow locers and aspiring locers). In this video I am talking about how knowing your hair porosity can aid you in your Loc journey with your Loc maintenance! Just because you have locs (traditional locs, free form locs or microlocs) that doesn’t mean that you are 100% exempt from ever having to do anything with your hair.

    I have come to realize that my hair and scalp needs did not change just because I locked my hair. I needed to moisturize at least twice per week as a loose natural and I've found the same routine is necessary to keep my locs happy. Like you, I must add oil to the water or aloe juice that I add for moisture. I do use a rinse out conditioner on wash day and a leave in for maintenance..
    Love your content and love your locs!!

      Thank you for supporting and watching! I use aloe in my water bottle sometimes too! Especially in the dryer months.

    Greetings, I know this is an old video but this is the first video about moisturizing locs that makes sense. I am starting my loc journey with high porosity hair. My hair gets extremely dry if I do not put some type of conditioner and oil on it. Thank you for your common sense advice.

    Locs look good

    I'm so grateful for this. Have you tried the rice water deep condition? I have the same hair type as you and I halfway hear that it does nothing for 4c hair. I have so many questions if youve tried it.

      I only tried it a couple of times on my loose natural hair. I wasn’t a fan of how my hair felt afterwards and I feel like I had to do repair work to fix what rice water did to my hair.

      That's all I needed to hear. I will not be trying rice water. Have you tried the aloe vera? I know for a fact that's not for 4c loose natural but have you tried it in locs?

      I have tried it and actually add it to my diy leave-in conditioner concoction. But I haven’t sprayed it by itself into my locs.

      I'll give it a shot! Thanks loc king!

    I heard you could use very small amount of conditioner on your scalp when you have locs

    • @DavidJaysWay
      @DavidJaysWay  Год назад +2

      I don’t concentrate it on my scalp, but instead on the length of my locs. And I use the same amount as I do shampoo if not more.

    Do you recommend conditioning starter locs?

    • @DavidJaysWay
      @DavidJaysWay  Год назад +3

      If they are short locs and easily unravel, then no. But if your hair is longer and you’re not worried about them unraveling then yes. Since you’re still washing with a stocking cap, I would wait a little while before using conditioner.
