This video is so enlightening. I know I'm not the only one who thought: "If I can't pronounce it, I shouldn't put it in my hair." But you flipped that upside down. It's awesome seeing a smart woman explain what these ingredients that I can't pronounce *actually* do. Grateful for you. Please keep it up!
Thanks Tonya. I ❤️ You. I am Caucasian but I have a biracial daughter. I enjoy learning as much as I can so her hair will be 🔥 But I have thin straight low porosity hair and you can see my scalp. I make my own Oils and deep conditioners as well as scalp scrubs.
Try aloe vera gel as a pre poo or to detangle the hair. Mix a little almond oil or avocado oil with it to see if you get that pre poo detangling slip. ✌🏾GL-- hope it helps/works.
@@hannajay6928 you are probably using wayy too much oil on your hair and it's building up between wash days. or if all else fails use a betenite clay mask and apply coconut oil during your usual wash days.
My low porosity tips are: wash hair in warm/hot water and immediately Apply moisture for best absorption. Hair masks make my hair stronger and shine. Apply light oils to lock in moisture in winter. Heavier oils in the summer (I live in TX)
I have low porosity hair and steaming my hair as part of my deep conditioning regimen is an absolute MUST! Without steaming, the product just doesn't penetrate and no matter how long I let it sit on my hair, it does just that....sits ON TOP of my hair. It barely gets through the hair shaft. I've gone through about 3 steamers over the years and at this point, I refuse to buy another one because they're pricey so I recently invested in a steam cap that I got on Amazon for around $30. I also bought a travel steamer. Although it's intended for clothes, it works just fine when I use it on my hair, just be careful not to burn yourself.
I thought about steaming my hair also, but I found an even better way for me. While still in the shower after 1) washing, 2) conditioning my hair, I then put a deep conditioner on my hair and place a deep conditioning cap to trap the moisture and then leave on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse out.
Thank you for this! 🙌🏾 One piece of advice for low porosity hair is to deep condition with heat and alternate at least once a month with a protein based conditioner so your hair will be balanced. Low porosity hair is protein sensitive but a little protein is still needed to avoid moisture overload and mushy hair. Hope this helps! ✨👌🏾
Some actually cut down on the deep down conditioning or leave it out of their regimen, the hair doesn't suffer from it at all. And I am sure my mama never deep conditioned my hair and it was bra strap length before I was ten.
My advice to people with low porosity hair. Is moisturizing is important with light oils , Like grape seed oil, jojoba oil and steamers. Once I found that out because my hair is also 3a-3b fine and thin. Thats what works for me.
I am low porosity. I discovered that by opening my cuticles with warm water to get products in and closing my cuticles by using cool water to lock in moisture has helped immensely with the appearance and over all health of my hair. I get the extreme darkness and shine after doing this method on my wash days. The nice form of my curl pattern. Strength of my hair. The speed of growth. And manageability. And I must add that topping it off with a quality oil just enhances it even more. And last but not least a little goes a very long way when it comes to how much product I use in my hair. Just using very little makes a drastic difference in how my hair look and feel and grows versus adding a lot or too much which makes it look and feel dirty and dull when all the dirt in the air gets attracted to it.
These videos are so informative! I have low porosity hair and I’ve noticed that my hair loves honey. I looked up that TGIN leave-in conditioner and saw that the 2nd ingredient is raw black honey so I’ll definitely have to give it a try. Just an update, 1 month later. This is probably the most moisturizing leave-in conditioner that I’ve ever used.
I am also have low porosity hair and I am agreeing with the honey. My goodness it's the best. I use ETAE Carmel treatment and my hair love, love it. Check it out
Hey! A piece of advice I’d say for my low porosity hair is to not be scared of protein. Just because your hair is low porosity doesn’t mean it’s automatically protein sensitive.
@@elielerilibe1340 Hey, Tonya actually has a video on this misconception that can explain it better than I can 🤣. It’s a short 4 minute video that gets to the point, just look up “how to elevate your hair fast with coconut oil” it’ll be the first one!
My low porosity hair I use a hot cloth on my hair after adding oil, and leave in conditioner. I can see the product on the surface of hair that's when I started using the hot cloth "game changer"😍 I love this video thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge for us naturals.
Great suggestions as usual. I have a lot of fine, low po hair. My tip is: Don't be put off by 'cones. I spent several years mixing things in my kitchen and doing totally natural "stuff" and Curly Chemistry's suggestions and endorsement of 'cones was a game changer. My hair is thriving and growing like mad.

I do the Aztec clay healing mask once a month just to completely get ride of product buildup and usually use apple cider vinegar to cleanse my scalp if I don’t want to use shampoo. Grape seed oil is great for people who can’t use coconut oil
I'm low porosity; hair takes 36 hours to air dry lol One tip is honey and glycerin are our friends! Also, deep conditioning with a hair dryer is key to quick and beneficial conditioning! Thank you for this video! so helpful!
I rarely comment on You Tube videos but I had to tell you that all of the products that you recommended have saved my hair. I had so many problems such as tangling and drying with my hair because I have low porosity and 4c hair. I just used the products recommended (African Pride pre-poo, Carol's Daughter Wash Day Delight and Conditioner (not recommended in this video), TGIN Miracle Repair Leave In, Pattern Hydrating Mist, Melanin Multi-Use Pure Oil Blend) in this video and it changed my wash day experience. I just wanted to say thank you for educating the masses!!!!
Thank you. My mom and I never knew how to take care of my hair. I was taking down faux locs I left in for too long, snipped 6 inches of hair off and saw how fried my ends were. I gave up and started crying. My hair is untrained and it’s so hard to get products to work. I constantly need protein treatments. I literally broke down crying and felt my heart racing. I’m tired of the synthetic natural styles to feel presentable. I will try these products and keep my hair in mini twists. I’ll cover it up when I go to work. Maybe 6 months from now this will work 😭 🙂
My lo-po advice is to switch the way you use a product if you don't get results the first time. Eg. The TGIN leave-in works so much better when I mix it with water. I absolutely love it My moisturizer TGIN hair milk works better when my hair is almost dry. My deep conditioner works best on soaking wet hair.
Melanin haircare multi use leave in conditioner is also great for low porosity. My hair eats it up! Usually products just sit on my hair. She has a deep conditioner out, I may try that as well
I’m finding out that my hair can’t be soaking wet when I apply products. I have to dry it with a cotton t-shirt until it’s damp and then apply my leave-in and oil.
Hi Tonya! Would you kindly dedicate an in depth video for gray hair? I used to have fine to medium thickness high porosity hair. Now that I'm going gray and stopped coloring, I've noticed that the strands are thick, wiry, brittle, frizzy and just refuse to curl like the non gray hairs.I don't even understand the porosity of those hairs which make up about half of my hair now...
This video was God sent! I was already using the TGIN Leave in Conditioner but I also purchased the Wash Day Delight Water to Foam shampoo and the aloe conditioner. They have officially become holy grail products for my hair! I believe that the products and my new routine have helped with my seborrheic dermatitis. I experience much less flaking and my scalp looks very clean afterwards. My hair is also softer and more shiny than ever. This is one of the few natural hair channels that I trust!
This video Is extremely Informative. My favorite leave In conditioner Is Talia Wajiids leave In and mist bodifier. It's very moisturizing on my low porosity hair, also acv vinegar rinses
I just want to say thank you sooo much! I’ve been watching so many natural hair channels for years and have never been able to find the right way to moisturize my hair, our my daughter’s hair. I’m low porosity and my daughter is high porosity. Based on the information you’re provided this is literally the first time our hair has felt moisturized and I am grateful! Thank you again!
Thanks so much for this information! For my low porosity hair I do the following: on the night before wash day, I wet my hair with warm to hot water and then apply (DIY) a combination of tgin leave-in conditioner, aloe vera gel and glycerin to my hair / blow dry my hair on a warm setting (to help the products thoroughly penetrate the hair shaft) / wrap in plastic cap / scarf and leave it in overnight. The next day I rinse it out and then wash with tgin rosewater shampoo and use tgin conditioner (both of these are made specifically for low porosity hair). After wash/condition/rinse, I then use my DIY again (tgin leave-in conditioner/aloe vera gel/glycerin) to my hair while still in the shower to keep my hair moist. Afterwards, I seal with shea butter and put in a protective style.
@@raynafields6478 African Shea Butter 100% Natural. Now, I'm keeping it even more simple by not blow drying my hair at all and simply applying tgin butter cream daily moisturizer and then I seal it with Palmers Olive Oil Formula (grease).
I have low porosity hair and I love the Pattern hydrating shampoo and Pattern heavy conditioner. I use these 2 on wash day every 7 days.I also use a moisturizer by Naturalicious daily .All 3 works wonders on my hair
Am recently liking oats gel. Soaking in some oats and extracting out the gel adding in some oils amla, grapeseed oil, sesame oil, black seed oil, apply it and leave overnight then wash it out... I apply coconut oil after letting my hair dry out naturally. Coconut oil on the scalp only then seal it in with amla oil for some lustre.
I have low porosity sections (front and crown) and some normal porosity sections (every where else). I shower without a shower cap so my hair gets streamed if I need to touch up some small sections of my wash n go I will do so after my shower and then wrap my hair for bed.
I have low perosity hair: what has help me is not washing with shampoo, not putting silicone, or grease in my hair. My hair loves Lemongrass leave in conditioner from All Things O’Natural.
This is great information. I am more of a diy person. I have recently mix rose water, aloe Vera juice, distilled water glycerin, avocado oil for a moisturizer and am over the moon about the results for my LP. Do you have any recommendations for a diy moisturizer for HP. Thanks in advance.
Miss ma’m! You know your stuff! Aloe Vera is a great ingredient for moisture on hair and face/body, cream/gels are amazing for low porosity and how easily these complex words just slipped through! Yup! 👏🏿 You’re certified!
I’ve been watching on replay over and over! I got notes and ready to go! Thank you. My advice to other low porosity friends would be to use heat with your conditioners. Heat really helps to infuse the moisture into the hair strands/cuticle. Thank you for another awesome video and as always very informative!
Thank u, Thank you, Thank U for this video. I'm low porosity and it seems like there is never any info for us low porosity bae's. Most of the RUclipsr I follow are high porosity. I love how you explain everything, I never know what to buy as people mindlessly recommend products which hardly ever end up working, thank you for this!
I went to get the Pattern beauty mask but protein was high on the list. Also people who are giving it bad reviews are saying they are low porosity and their hair was dry. The people that loved it said that it defined their curls which says again higher protein. I am conflicted but won't get this one. I did get the Camille rose algae deep conditioner and my hair feels interesting. It melted in effortlessly and the result is that my hair is soft and moist so I would say that it worked. I looked at the wash day shampoo but didn't get it yet. The As I am is hard to find in store but says strengthening so I am concerned
Where have you been all my life?? You are amazing 🤩 Thank you for sharing your knowledge to us !! May God bless you for sharing your knowledge ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
I use the Aussie super moist hair insurance…. Liquid conditioners work for my hair…. Steaming my hair, using wild growth ( white bottle),taking my Vitamin D3 and medium knotless braids.
So needed this video!!! I’m also Low porosity and currently struggling with keeping my hair from drying out so fast…. My hair drys out after 2 to 3 days of moisturizing😩😩😩
Your moisture cycle may be 2-3 days, you can either moisturize your hair on day 2 or look into one of the moisturizers I mentioned in this video which may increase your cycle. Also, try sealing with hair grease (if your hair responds well to it) this can also elongate the moisture within the hair. I hope this helps!
@@CurlyChemistry ok that sounds about right lol bc it seems like by day 3 I have to moisturize my hair again lol I will definitely try this tips grease does responds to my hair very well I just seem to over do it sometimes lol but thanks so much again will definitely try this out!!!!🥰🥰🥰
I would like your take on the no oils no butter trend that is going around right now, based on porosity. I would also like a lesson from you on porosity and gray hair.
Yes! I color as I’m not ready yet to embrace the gray. Texture has changed too over the years. Should I treat it any different (more fragile) and what can help with wiry texture as it wants to noticed?
Thank you so much!!! I am definitely going to try some of these. What's helped me with my LP hair is making sure ALL products have slip and not using heavy/sticky butters while making sure to use protein treatments every 5 weeks consistently.
I like Hello Hydration Conditioner by Herbal Essences, Kinky Curry’s Knot Today Leave-In, the As I Am shampoo she mentions in this video is amazing, and I seal lightly with an oil or butter.
Oh! And the Aussie Moist curls leave in milk! Their 3-minute deep conditioner is bomb too for mega moisture. I use that one with a hair steamer for 20 minutes.
I feel the biggest low porosity tip is to be sparing and/or avoid protein. My hair is so low porosity that almost any protein or aloe can give me overload, when I color my hair I have to leave it on 2x as long and back in the day texturizer barely changed my hair lol
My favorite shampoo is Sebastian twisted and leave in conditioner is Paul mitchell The One Conditioner. One advise is to deep condition your leave in. After adding your leave in, cap your hair, sit under the dryer for 10min. I've been doing this since December, now I have moisture for a week.
Thank you for educating me on my low priority hair😂 I just found out I had low priority hair. I have used Aussie miracle curls leave in conditioner also Melanin multi uses pure oil blend and loved both of them and will keep them in my regiment. Thanks again
I’m medium porosity. My advice would be to keep it simple. Use shampoos and conditioners that have JBCO and apple cider vinegar in them to help with the protein-moisture balance. I love using Shea Moisture’s JBCO line. I use Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner as a leave-in. I use the conditioning cap from Glow by Daye and keep it on my hair for 15 minutes. It works best when you heat up the cap on each side for a minute. After the 15 minutes I use my own DIY oil to seal the moisture in. I braid my hair up and put on my bonnet. When I go to work, I leave my hair tied up in a durag (scarves can’t fit my head because it’s too big 😂🤣) with a beanie on top. I usually moisturize my hair every 3-4 days. That’s how I maintain my hair every week.
I am ready for a relaxer I’ve been natural for about 2 1/2 years my hair has changed from normal porosity to low where its super dry and breaking off. It’s like I have normal on my ends now and low on my roots. I did too much of something . I have no idea so many people on and off RUclips giving advice. I am happy I found someone who can break down the porosity as well as the ingredients. Thank you!
Hello! I enjoy your content young lady! I had 4C hair at 54 years old. Look, I am still trying to work what products that work best for my hair but I have come a long way. Unfortunate, it's being discontinued soon.
From my low porosity 10yrs of experience, I advise using oil mix (Olive and Coconut oil/other oil preference) for hot oil treatment overnight to wash day. It condition the hair to be silky, shinny, also penetrate deeply to hair shaft that detangling is easy/ free with less hair loss during washing hair.
My dear Tonya, you are a God-send!! My favorite low Porosity tip is I have never use heat on my hair not do I plan to. I use indirect heat (heat cap) to allow deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner to penetrate my hair shaft.
Yeah, I don't think my hair really like glycerin, I also have mixed porosities. You've taught me so much about my curls from a science perspective, which is my favorite way to learn why things work the way they do. Keep being a beautiful Black Chemist we appreciate all your value and love. Best, D

You ever thought about making and selling monthly subscription box? You could have two versions: tester/travel series (I don't want to dive deep, I just want to get my feet wet) and full size products (I want to/ready to jump off the high dive). I could test out some products without worrying that the rest of the product will go to waste if I don't like it.
Perfect timing because I definitely need a good quality shampoo for my low porosity hair. My hair does not really like the shampoo that I use now. I can’t wait to try your recommended shampoos, thank you!
Hey! Can you please do a video on the best products/ treatments to use for seborrheic dermatitis, scalp psoriasis, and scalp eczema? Would really appreciate it!
For my seborrheic dermatitis, I add 1% zinc pyrithione to my favorite shampoo, .5% to my deep conditioner, and .25% to my leave in. I weighed my product and then add the right amount of zinc pyrithione and mix well. I apply the shampoo to my scalp out of the shower with a nozzle bottle and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it out. The deep conditioner is used normally. I rub the leave in into my scalp and along my strands. This allows me to go up to 3 weeks without washing again but I normally wash every 10 days. I sorry that I can’t speak for scalp psoriasis or eczema. I got the shampoo idea from Dr. Dray , a dermatologist on RUclips.
@@aprilracine thank you for this advice it is much appreciated and I’ll definitely check out Dr. Dray’s channel 😊 but where can I get zinc pyrithione ? At a pharmacy ?
@@ashbee5305 I purchased mine on Esty. A 1.7 oz powder for $15. A little goes a long way. Or you can try Head and Shoulders Royal Oils conditioner, which I also like. However their shampoo is too stripping for me. I should also mention that I have high porosity hair.
I have low porosity hair and I recently found that a liquid leave in conditioner works wonders for me. Especially if it has Aloe in it. I did like Urban Hydrators Aloe and Cucumber liquid leave in. But they discontinued it. Haven't found another that I like yet. I'm experimenting with a dyi liquid leave in with water, glycerin and aloe. I decided not to use an oil as I will be using this daily and my fine hair doesn't handle oil well. Makes it limp and slick. I"m working on the right proportions for my hair.
This video speaks to me! Thank u as always. U dropped a gem about soybean oil. A hair stylist that I know is so against oils, as far as applying as a styler, sealer or moisturizer. She said that it cooks your hair. It's discouraging to me b/c as a woman with low porosity hair, it seems like sealing is key for me. I really want to try the Melanin oil.
@@CurlyChemistry thank you for reiterating what I have been telling many. Our natural hair needs oil and butters period! All these stylists who don’t know the science of black hair and want to advise us. Once again thank you for teaching us!❤️
Oh and since low porosity hair is protein sensitive I do a VO5 protein hot oil treatment once a week, no more or my hair will totally have a protein overload and look crazy.
I have heard of some of these products. Especially the TGIN and the Melanin oil. They are both great products. I am low porosity. Pre-poo helps your hair tremendously. I do it every time I wash my hair. It sets your hair up for the shampoo and conditioner. And it grows the hair. Also using heat with your conditioners. It is a game changer. It locks in the moisture. I have seen a big change doing this.
@@memes.1114 Yes or a hooded bonnet. When you put your conditioner on. Sit under a hooded dryer or bonnet for 30 to 45 minutes. So the conditioner can penentrate into your hair. I also put my conditioner in the shower. When you do that. The hair is moisturized. And you see a big difference. I also do Avacado treatments as well. Adding oils of your choice, eggs, honey and coconut milk. That works tremendously as well. You can do that once a week or every two weeks.
I have low porosity hair and Putting my hair products in warm water was kind of tiring so before I moisturize my hair I always sit in front of my heater for a little while, and that seems to do the trick. I have notice no build up from adding so much product to feel some moisture when I wash my hair so I guess my hair is actually absorbing these products now.
Can you talk specifically about deep conditioners and recommend some? I'm confused at what actually makes a deep conditioner. Talk about the best ingredients (what to look for etc.), the difference between a moisturising one or a protein one or one that is both. I don't know if I'm high or low porosity, I may be both so please suggest ones that can be used by all. I want to invest in one but won't until I know which to buy.
Thank you, thank you Lady Chemist, you have helped me so much. I already use the tgin leave in and Hollywood oils, so I am excited for the other products. Since I've seen improvement while using those. I feel it in my tippy toes at the very least one of those shampoos will work for me. To the community. My hair has a million and one textures. However, the porosity is consistent throughout. What has helped has been treating the porosity and the most susceptible texture prone to moisture loss. I also have psoriasis, and acne, and all of that affects my hair. Slowly; but surely I am getting the hang of it. Don't feel bad if you have not yet, I will be 44 in a few months, and I am now. And by now I mean a few months ago am finally getting my regime together. There is hope for us!
Thanks so much for sharing this… awesome takeaways. My tip is, I can't say enough about pre-poo or hot oil treatments. That has really changed the game in my hair journey. Looking forward to the next updates! 😀
I have low porosity hair and I get buildup and flakes from almost every moisturizer and gel I use. Does anyone have any tips or product recommendations?
Maybe, I’d you want, I don’t know how you are applying your products, but a little can go a long way. Actually using like a dime size or a little bigger on each section can actually work. I started steaming (and your talking to a person who flakes year round, I got it from my dad) and let me tell you, on day five, still no flakes!!! Steaming really changed my hair. Depending on your style, try to use only 2-3 products and that’s not including your oil. Warm up your conditioner if you want, it opens up the follicles!!! You know what, I’m gonna send you a video!
Just curious, have you tried doing a cleanse with bentonite clay at least once a month? Usually doing this will strip the hair of product build up and help in the moisturizing process. If not, there are plenty of videos on the process. I try to do this when I notice my twist out seems limp and lifeless. I hope this helps.😊

I am also have low porosity hair and I am agreeing with the honey. My goodness it's the best. I use ETAE Carmel treatment and my hair love, love it. Check it out
Hey! A piece of advice I’d say for my low porosity hair is to not be scared of protein. Just because your hair is low porosity doesn’t mean it’s automatically protein sensitive.
yeah my hair loves protein
I totally agree.💯
What about coconut oil sensitive?
@@elielerilibe1340 Hey, Tonya actually has a video on this misconception that can explain it better than I can 🤣. It’s a short 4 minute video that gets to the point, just look up “how to elevate your hair fast with coconut oil” it’ll be the first one!
I'm low po and my fine hair loves protein as long as it's balanced. Hydrolyzed protein especially
I have been using heat every time I deep condition and I’ve been noticing a huge difference.
Same here. It is definitely a game changer.
Thanks for putting everything in the description box, you're the best !
No problem!! :-)

@@sabrinaalston1243 Rhassoul clay followed by ACV rinse or shampoo; Aussie Moist 3 minute miracle for deep conditioner and Aussie Moist Leave-In. I also take Biotin and Mega Food Skin, Nails&Hair that has been awesome for addressing thin spots in my crown area.
@@50fitnfrolushous So is the 3 min miracle your only deep conditioner???
@@miaporche2256 Yes! I have spent a fortune on so many conditioners cuz I thought I hated silicones. However, I do alternate with Rhassoul clay to wash and deep condition. I make a paste with aloe juice and leave it on for 30 minutes or so and then rinse it out and follow with ACV. GOOD TO GO!
I have bought products that have been ridiculously priced, but the Aussie line stands up to many of them. I was surprised.
I do the Aztec clay healing mask once a month just to completely get ride of product buildup and usually use apple cider vinegar to cleanse my scalp if I don’t want to use shampoo. Grape seed oil is great for people who can’t use coconut oil
Are you using regular ACV like from the supermarket or is there one formulated, specifically for hair?

I'm low porosity; hair takes 36 hours to air dry lol One tip is honey and glycerin are our friends! Also, deep conditioning with a hair dryer is key to quick and beneficial conditioning! Thank you for this video! so helpful!
How do you use the honey and glycerin
@@yngclothing Hi! I use products that have glycerin or honey in the top 5 of the ingredients list.
Maybe 6 months from now this will work 😭 🙂
I am low porosity! That hair oil by melanin hair care is absolutely incredible. Definitely recommend!
Using the green House method of deep conditioning is amazing for low porosity, my hair love the method, make my hair super soft
What is the green house method?
@@leilahdeb it the method of using our body heat to help deep condition our hair without using a steamer of heat cap.
Mine too!!! I use this method almost everyday!!
I've been using these products for a week or so. 10 days. My hair is so happy.
My lo-po advice is to switch the way you use a product if you don't get results the first time.
Eg. The TGIN leave-in works so much better when I mix it with water. I absolutely love it
My moisturizer TGIN hair milk works better when my hair is almost dry.
My deep conditioner works best on soaking wet hair.
Thank you! Could make a detailed video on how to use these products in a routine over a month?
Melanin haircare multi use leave in conditioner is also great for low porosity. My hair eats it up! Usually products just sit on my hair. She has a deep conditioner out, I may try that as well
I’m finding out that my hair can’t be soaking wet when I apply products. I have to dry it with a cotton t-shirt until it’s damp and then apply my leave-in and oil.
Finally, same for me. If I do on wet hair the next day my hair turns brittle and dry
Yeah me too. My hair has to be damp to soak up product better.
I'm the opposite my hair have to be soaking wet when applying products and I use a hot cloth on top of the application.

This sounds like a great idea and pretty low maintenance! Do you have a specific Shea butter you use?
@@raynafields6478 African Shea Butter 100% Natural. Now, I'm keeping it even more simple by not blow drying my hair at all and simply applying tgin butter cream daily moisturizer and then I seal it with Palmers Olive Oil Formula (grease).

Honey banana aloe little almond oil egg mix and apply hair mask it’s super good for low porosity

My low porosity advice: pre-poo, finger detangle, less product (but moisturizing) is best.

Yes, because I’m gray and so many things lift your color.
Yes! I color as I’m not ready yet to embrace the gray. Texture has changed too over the years. Should I treat it any different (more fragile) and what can help with wiry texture as it wants to noticed?
Thank you so much!!! I am definitely going to try some of these. What's helped me with my LP hair is making sure ALL products have slip and not using heavy/sticky butters while making sure to use protein treatments every 5 weeks consistently.
what are some of the products you use that have the best slip?
Yes, I would like to know too. Thanks🙂

One advise is to deep condition your leave in. After adding your leave in, cap your hair, sit under the dryer for 10min. I've been doing this since December, now I have moisture for a week.
I had this idea but never tried it yet.... So you don't ever use deep conditioner period???

Try using a steamer. I use my hand held steamer after I use my leave in and there's a big difference in how my hair absorbs the moisture.

Oh and since low porosity hair is protein sensitive I do a VO5 protein hot oil treatment once a week, no more or my hair will totally have a protein overload and look crazy.
Melanin has a really nice leave in and twisting cream that my low porosity hair really likes
How do you use heat during conditioning? Do you sit under the dryer while conditioning?
@@memes.1114 Yes or a hooded bonnet. When you put your conditioner on. Sit under a hooded dryer or bonnet for 30 to 45 minutes. So the conditioner can penentrate into your hair. I also put my conditioner in the shower. When you do that. The hair is moisturized. And you see a big difference. I also do Avacado treatments as well. Adding oils of your choice, eggs, honey and coconut milk. That works tremendously as well. You can do that once a week or every two weeks.
Thanks for the tips! How and what do u preepoo with?
This couldn't have come at a better time. I was just thinking about this yesterday. Thanks
I have low porosity hair, but i hate washing my hair with shampoo, it makes my hair feel crispy and super dry.
True. I pre-poo as well.
She really helped me a lot!!! I got one more video of hers for you
Just curious, have you tried doing a cleanse with bentonite clay at least once a month? Usually doing this will strip the hair of product build up and help in the moisturizing process. If not, there are plenty of videos on the process. I try to do this when I notice my twist out seems limp and lifeless. I hope this helps.😊
Does this stuff clog the drain because my hair is super thick.... I use this on my face at times and I see how that ends up when I rinse my face so I'm worried about putting it on my hair...
