- Hey guys! In this video, I share what low porosity natural hair looks like. I have done many informational videos on specific subjects on low porosity hair but I have never dedicated a video to just simply show what it looks like to give a simple visual. Please see the video below from another RUclipsr who I was inspired to do a video similar to hers because I really loved the idea and feel like sharing it with you all may be helpful!

Hey everyone! I pray that you all are doing well and staying healthy and safe! Let me know other visual attributes you can think of that pertain to what low porosity hair looks like that I may not have mentioned in the video! Thank you :)
❤❤❤❤hey babe i love u im soooo proud of u beautiful. God bless u and your family stay safe
Thank you soooooo much! I pray that you and your loved ones are happy, healthy, safe and prosperous in every way!
Great Video. Can you ask your High Porosity RUclips friends to also do a similar video🤗🤗🤗
I think you are Ethiopian very gorgeous I had same hair type with u
Iyda can you please tell me a good product for my 10 year old. Watching your video ive notice her hair does this which is probably why her hair falls out alot...Thanks 😁
I will completely immerse myself in a pool and when I come up my hair will still look dry
Same lol
Same!! 😭😭😭😭
Same,and it makes Washing difficult
That is me. It takes forever for my hair to get drenched and dries so fast.
That’s me!
Sometimes I think that hair porosity is much more important that hair typing. You can have the same type as someone, but if you don't have the same porosity their products will not work for you. This was such a good video.
I agree with you! :)
👈💯
My sister and I have almost exactly the same curl type but she's low porosity and I'm high. Which makes our haircare techniques very different. When you know porosity, you'll know how often to use heat, how to properly seal or open your cuticle, when you should use a protein treatment and that's just the health of your hair we haven't even talked about styling products.
Evolution20 it REALLY is... and most of us don’t know what hair type we have anyway🤷🏾♀️
I honestly feel hair typing is completely irrelevant
She’s so pretty
thank you :)
Isn't she though? Just gorgeous
emosh73 bruhhh
@emosh73 why did u feel the need to say something like that? Did that make your life a little less miserable? What was the point?
She's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. There's just something about her!
FINALLLYYYY found someone whose hair looks like mine
no kidding!
🙌 i feel this! lol
Same!!!
Same🙏
Said the same thing!!
This is hands-down the perfect illustration of low porosity hair 👍🏾👏🏾 it kills me when other videos are just advising to do various tests with hair strands to determine the hair type
Yea because my strands sit on top of a glass of water like in those tears but my hair does not look like this when wet 😕 but I have been finding hella success with treating my hair with low porosity methods.
Share the love on Tiana Michelle yt page as well. She does a great job demonstrating what low po hair looks like when wet in less than 5m.
Alexis K Barnes same here!!! I have been trying to accurately determine my porosity for almost 10 yrs now. Smh.
And then there are RUclipsrs thinking that they are low porosity when they're clearly not, which in turn confuses people who are trying to learn about it 🙄
@@sensimania right.
1) you're very beautiful
2) you have gorgeous hair
3) make-up is on point- especially your eyes
4) good clear demonstration of low-po hair and great tips on how to manage it
5) rating 5/5
Vroxzz Roxz Yup, I subscribed 👍🏾
I wasn’t even looking at the hair😭, you’re so beautiful😩
You're so kind, thank you :)
emosh73 I said what I said, she’s beautiful because of all her features combined, hair, skin, eyes, etc. I don’t know what you were trying to say here but she is definitely a 10 without her hair being “straighter”.
@@gaellea.984 I think emosh73 is just trolling on Iyda's page. He has been saying negative comments for months now. So disgusting and pathetic. I agree Iyda is stunning I found her channel like over a year ago and have been a fan ever since.
I’m a guy and this lockdown has caused me to grow my hair so Ive been learning how to take care of it better than with waves and you have been a BLESSING. I’ve watched so many videos cause my hair looked dull and got so dry and listening to you I realized I’m low porosity. I followed info from your videos and it worked for me. Thank you ! I’m a fan lol
Glad I could help!! That's the positive of staying inside, gives us the time we need to look after ourselves much better!
My hair dries so rapidly when I get out of the shower this last time I didn't even t-shirtl blot it. I just sectioned it off and put a plastic shower cap over it to keep it moist & I took my "bantu knots" down section by and then started twisting my hair with product in it. It turned
out pretty good though.
Some things that have changed my fine/low porosity hair: 1. Spending time rinsing before shampooing. Helps loosen any dirt and product on scalp and hair. Also drenches my hair so it’s easier to get to my scalp with shampoo. Shampoo can get right to work. 2. I stopped using all creams (moisturizing shampoo, leave-in, styler etc.) they always lead to build up for me. I use products with water like teas, acv, aloe water etc. 3. I went back to grease. I’ve noticed that type 4 hair thrives with heavy fats. I used Shea butter but I found that to get the consistency that my hair liked I would have to mix it with a lot of heavier oils. In the end it looked like grease but a lot more expensive.
Thank you for sharing! My hair really hates anything too heavy but ut did like the shea butter mixture when I added oils but I could only use a very small amount or I would get buildup. I've heard some other people with low porosity hair love using grease too! I guess there are many different levels to low porosity hair! :)
I’ve started using grease again and that’s when my hair looks and feels the healthiest
I feel like my hair love grease as well I will focus more on this now 😄
Doesn't the grease just sit on your hair?
Great tips
Lol! I just washed my hair today and was so bummed out I can never achieve that wavy long hair look fresh out the shower. I also have to get leave in in it RIGHT AWAY like can't even get dressed first or it will dry out 😂 thanks for sharing!
Same!!!
Omg me too!! I think I’m gonna start just doing my whole hair routine in the shower 😭😭
same 😭 I can never enjoy just looking at my hair fresh out the shower and taking my time. It's a time challenge to get leave in and moisturiser on before my hair gets cold 😄
Start putting your leave-in before getting out of shower it’s a game changer
me too 🤣🤣🤣
I knew I had low porosity hair when I jumped in a pool with a friend and she had hang time for dayyyyyssss while I still had an afro. 😂😅
😂😂😂
😂
Lol!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yess! 😂
Learning my hairs porosity really changed my hair. I used to get so frustrated when deep conditioners didn’t work or products would just on top of my hair but now it’s so much easier to manage
What product do you ise
You and your hair are soooo beautiful 😍
Right? She looks like the main character of a movie!
Wowowow you literally defined my hair COMPLETELY. I thought I had a scalp condition because of how quickly my flakes appear. I always start sneezing and have to wrap my hair when it does until I wash it 😂
I have always found this the most beautiful type of hair. I know it’s hard to manage but I’m just so jealous of how beautiful it is
Same here. I now wash in the shower, and I let that water flow on my hair for at least 5 minutes. Best thing I ever did for my low porosity hair.
i have 0 idea why this is in my recommended, i have no interest in porosity hair whatever but HOLY SHIT you are beautiful! you literally look like a doll. stunning ! k bye
Aweee thank you so much, you are so sweet! :)
This is very interesting! All this time I thought that the hair types (4a b & c) were going to help me in my natural hair journey but it seems like it is totally irrelevant. Knowing your hair porosity, density etc are more helpful in retaining length! (I'm high po btw)
Me too my hair dries out so quickly and I only found out recently. I thought that since hair rolled of my hair I was low po but it was just that my hair has oil on it. It NEEDS moisture everyday
Hair type only shows the curl pattern.
Finallh a habesha with type 4 hair, feels like I'm the only one sometimes 😭
Me too!! Thank you for your comment! Glad there is more out there!
Wedi Squad What is habesha?
Jenni Tulls she’s Ethiopian
My hair is just like this
The same here my hair is exactly like her wow 🤩
If only my mom, aunties, and sisters understood this when I was younger! Would have made life alot easier. I always had to leave relaxers in way longer than suggested and when I bleached my hair, my stylist had to use a 40 volume and heat to get it to take.
Me too, and after I applied it, it lasted 2 weeks😪
You and me both!
@@IydaMichael please my hair always cut a lot but i don't know what to do maybe i should stop putting relax on it for a while or what please reply me because u are very beautiful ❤️
omg yesss they would even use the extra strength ADULT relaxers when I was little smdh
@@faithyayi Oh I know the feeling.
thee VERY first time i’ve seen someone with my hair type exactly on youtube like a dream come true 😩
YESSSS!! More videos like this please. This is a perfect description of what my hair does. Thank you for the tips on warm water. I was always confused as to why my hair wasn’t taking in oils too. I need heat!!!
Will do!! Thank you so much! :)
OMG! I've been natural for almost 14 years and this is the most helpful info I've seen to date! Thank you so much for this video and the additional details provided in the links! This is really great!!!!
This is exactly how my hair responds to water and how it looks. Thank you for the tips.
Girl, I feel you.. The struggle with our hair type is sooo real.
Omgg yes love this video! My roots get sooo tangled now especially as my hair has grown!! I have medium length medium to high density type 4 hair I would love if you did a video on how to combat the tangles in your roots!
I love that this inspires others with low porosity hair to embrace and love it and grow their natural hair out.
My hair is just like yours and I’ve tried numerous products and the best product that worked for me was rice water shampoo and conditioner. GAME CHANGER!!!!! I no longer hate my dry, tangle, fine and curly hair.
Where do you get it
This is the best video I’ve watched I’ve just learnt today that I have low porosity hair and would spend so long in the shower to try and get it soaked. Also the front of my hair is fine so product build up is crazy. Thank you so much for the information and demonstrations❤️
You're my hair twin. That's exactly my hair texture and length.
I love it! Hair twins! Nice to se more people with the same hair type!
Mine too !!! There is more like our hair texture also. Like Kaice Alea, Neptune’s Quest , Armani B, Jonell sequeiraxo.. you should check them out
My hair is exactly like yours, but shorter & fine textured. I've been SO frustrated with it recently because I haven't been able to find products that work for keeping it moisturized without ending up feeling greasy or super flaky with build up. PLEASE please make more videos and let us know bc ya girl is tiredttt.
I don’t have low porosity hair but I’ve always wanted to see what it actually looked like! Thanks😀❤️
This is the most informative video I've seen on how to tell what porosity hair you have. So tired of seeing the Strand test in a glass of water
So true. I saw this video and a high porosity video and I figured out what I was.
I’m so glad I watched your video this help me understand better now that I have low porosity hair! I had high porosity when I was bleaching & coloring but now that I’m natural I my hair absorbs water, moisture and products much more slowly. Thank you for this!
😢oh my goodness, I have found my hair twin!!😢
L yay hair twins!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Same here
Same here!!👌😍
Same sis 😁
I big chopped last month and I just want to say that your videos have been super educational for me as I learn about my hair! I still haven't gotten super far when it comes to my staple products and what really works, but you're giving me so much insight into what I should be looking out for and how to improve my routine. So thank you!!!
I too have low po hair, and it is the biggest challenge I have. This was a great visual example instead of a bunch of verbiage, thanks for sharing!
This actually was an epiphany for me! Thank you so much!
It's exhausting working with LPH. Thank you for explaining, and for the instruction.
This is my hair all day long. Team Low Porosity hair... Thanks for product updates. Your hair is beautiful!
Mane Attraction Team Low Porosity! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Thank you so much!
So funny I’ve been looking for a video EXACTLY like this all week & only came across 1 or 2 good videos that shows exactly what low porosity hair looks like. Thank you for this.. Came right on time! This will help so many who are still trying to figure their porosity out. 🙌🏾
Thank you so much for this video!!! I'm semi-new to my natural hair--I chemically straightened it for most of my life (like literally since I was 8 or 9) and started to get it permmed when I was a junior in high school as a way to transition. Did a big chop/nearly shaved my head after my first semester of college, and now it's been growing for almost a year and a half. As it got longer, I found more ways to style it up, but I've been wanting to wear it out. These past couple weeks I've been trying so many things and doing so much research on trying to get it to look nice, and this video was like the final piece to my puzzle!!! You are a godsend 😊😊😊
I just watched a old video of yours where you recommended Giovanni 50/50 Balanced & Calming Conditioner. Omg. It Is The Absolute BEST!!!!! Putting a plastic cap on for a few minutes AFTER the leave in helps things absorb into my extremely low porosity hair. You have been an amazing source of information. Thank you ❤️
Clays mixed with Acv have really helped my low porosity hair
That's amazing to hear! My hair likes it better with the clay being mixed with water instead so it leaves the clay in a higher Ph level to absorb into my hair but also it is a bit more drying that way but I always make sure to follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner :)
I want to try the clay wash but I’m afraid I’ll dry my hair out 😩
@@Clauds71 I think you should just make sure the ph of the mask is between 4.5-5.5 and it will not dry out your hair.
I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WHO HAIR IS JUST LIKE MINES. Thank God. Great video Lady!
Yes! Thank you! So happy to hear that! :)
Quite possibly my favorite video from you. Super informative and perfectly illustrates the intricacies of our low porosity hair! Thank you Iyda! Love and light ✨🔮
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate your kind words~ Blessings to you and your loved ones :)
I finally fully understand what having low porosity natural hair is. You confirmed I am low porosity! Thank you, Lyda! Great video! 😃👍
Same! I feel so seen. This is amazing
Thank you so much. This is my daughters hair!! Strong, healthy and full! Buttttt can’t absorb anything!! Will be binge watching your videos.
I'm so happy to have found this. I have low porosity hair so it's nice to find a youtuber who has it aswell.
You nailed it!!! This is exactly what my hair does 😩😩
But I have realized when I smooth products in my hair it is very helpful.
I think I found my natural hair twin! Thank You for demonstrating and explaining.
Thank youu Iyda now i know for sure I'm low porosity, time for me to start on different products & new regime now x
Happy to help!
Thank you for these detailed videos, you're a God sent. Its so hard to find low porosity hair naturals on youtube. The struggle is real.
As if you could hear me talking, I kept saying, “Yes! That’s my baby’s hair”. I always wondered why it took so long to moisturize, condition and dry my daughter’s hair. Thanks for your thorough explanation and information.💕
Best video hand down I was still trying to figure if I had Low or High. Thanks to you video I now know I have High. Thank you Queen for a great video and you’re so Beautiful.
So glad I discovered your page!! Textures and the way our hair reacts to things are so similar! 🖤
I'm so glad too! :)
Thank you so much for this video because it described my daughters hair perfectly I've been having so many issues with her hair and I could not figure out why and now I know! She has low porosity hair and the products I've been using have been ALL wrong! This video has been heaven sent!
This helped me immensely with this concept. Seeing is believing when it comes to this. My hair behaves very much like this and I often have to use warm water (esp in winter) to moisturize & seal my hair. Thanks so much!!! ❤️🌺
You're so welcome! And yes, same for me in the winter as well! :)
Omg..,.I have been watching RUclips hair videos for years now and this is hands down the best explanation of low porosity hair!!!! Bravo and thank you!!!!
Your videos are saving my hair!! I could only find high porosity videos in my language… even though we got a different curl pattern and my hair is fine texture, your tips are gold ♥️♥️♥️
Gabriele Garcia awe thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear that my videos have been so helpful!! I will start adding more videos specifically about the different hair textures too! ❤️
@@IydaMichael that'd be awesome! Thank you so much, I can't believe you answered me hahahah
Love from Brazil ♥️
I love the way you wear your beautiful hair naturally
i can not get over how gorgeous she is, like how you go about life looking like that?
thank you! such a kind compliment :)
Hands down, the best video describing low porosity hair!! 😍❤️ really informative
New subby here 🙋🏽♀️
You are gorgeous 🥰 Thanks for providing the difference between high & low porosity hair! My daughter & my niece have low porosity (4b & 4c types), while mine is high porosity 3c.
Finally! Someone who has my same exact hair and understands the struggle. 🙌🏾
I would love to have more information since I am low porosity and have a hard time taking care of my hair. It’s protein overload and very difficult to manage and have a decent day after. I’m a 3b 3 c hair texture. Thank you so much Yda and kind regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
Today on 8/4/24, was the very first time at almost 30 (which I should’ve been doing this kind of research about four or five years ago) that I’ve FINALLY decided to open up in depth to understand my kind of hair and what hair porosity levels, etc. that is fully needed for myself (which this is also me dating me to take better care of me. Haha).
I’ve come to find out a few things. My hair texture a mix of loose and tight coils (curly), and yet my hair is 3B-4A. My hair porosity level is: Low porosity!
So because of finally having clarity about my hair type, I had to start watching hair videos only about, low porosity and the first video that came up….was YOURS! Your hair is very beautiful and wonderfully made By the hands and grace of God, and I just wanted to THANK YOU 💕💕💕💋🥰for this video. What kinds of products do you personally use for your kind of hair?? You’re very beautiful inside and out!💕💕💕💕💕
XOXOX, - Pastiche (A friend with low porosity hair) 🥰💕💜
This just confirmed that I have low porosity hair, thx.
Extremely, informative.
GORGEOUS face and hair.😘
Thanks for doing this video.. This is so my hair.. I had to do a big chop about 4 months ago, toooo much heat damage. Going to try thise flowery products you we're using.
Corey Davis you are very welcome and at least now you have a fresh start! Good luck on your hair journey and let me know what you think about these products, I highly recommend the clay wash and the leave in! ❤️
I could cry, this is the information I’ve been needing. Thank youuu
I JUST CANNOT WAIT UNTIL MY HAIR REACH THIS LENGH
Wow! 🤩 You have great hair! Such a fun look with all the curls! Enjoy!
I need a Makeup tutorial! Gorgeous 😍
You got it!
Low porosity hair is definitely a blessing in disguise. I love my hair
This is my hair. Water Just sits on top of my hair
Your hair looks so much like mine. Your videos help me! Thank you.
You have helped me SO much. My daughter just turned 5 and her hair is VERYYYYYY much like yours. I wish I could post her photo for you to see. I’ve been studying for the past couple years, trying to figure out which products and approaches work best for her and I feel like I’ve finally found someone who I can follow who has the same hair type or texture. She doesn’t look forward to wash day as her hair so easily tangles all up. I have also watched the product reviews you have posted. Thank you so much!
Your make-up is always on point. I would love 😍😍 to know how you get your eyeshadow to look as good as it does, also what make-up and brushes you use on a regular basis lol.
Thank you so much! Will do!! Makeup videos coming soon!
Great video Lyda!!
Very informative! My daughter has low porosity hair. Never heard it explained like this before. 💕💕
Wow that is so different than my hair. Water and products just absorbs right into my hair
ryn whats this hair type considered to be, high porosity?
Nimat Allen yeah. My hair is high porosity. It absorbs moisture very easily but can get dry really easy too.
My hair is high porosity too and it soaks up moisture so easily. It also dries easily as well.
Thank you for ths vídeo! Im a teen and ive always stuggled with my hair and im finally ready to figure it Out, finally understanding my porosity will really do me wonders!
Young lady you're truly blessed with a gorgeous face. Wow!
I love your hair…I have straight thin hair…and props on being so knowledgeable about how to care your GORGEOUS hair 💙
Hey Iyda 😊Could you do a review on Camille Rose lavender leave in and Mane choice soft as can be 3 in 1 conditioner on low porosity hair 😇😇
Yes I can!
@@IydaMichael Looking forward to it 😊😊💜
The water looks like glitter in your hair, it's so pretty
Ok I have high porosity hair because mine goes flat immediately when it gets wet
Me too. But when I do the strand test, my hair sits on top of the water. So that test is really not acurate!
A. Rogado right me to I’m confuse if my hair be at the top for the cup test but become flat when I put it under water
@@a.r.tavares1322 Yea the strand test is inaccurate due to surface tension!
Same here. For the strand test in the cup, you have to push the hair past the surface of the water first. Then you will get an accurate result
omg finally someone with my hair type
Your hair definitely got bigger!
I think so too! :) lol
Omg. Where has this video been all of my life. You have my exact hair. No one does. But you do.
Ur literally the only person on yt i seen actually have low porosity hair. Anlot of naturals just slap anything as their caption for views, and even just formppl to say “you dont have-“
Great video. I just started my Natural Hair journey. I was a Total weave lady. Conditioning. That's the secret. I use shampoos with conditioner. Then conditioner. Then leave in conditioners.
Your hair is so healthy, full and beautiful
I definitely have low porosity hair, so I appreciate the product recommendations! But Sis...can we get ALL the makeup tutorials?! Please! Stunning!
Of course!! Those are coming soon!
PERFECT explanation!!!!!!! Oh the struggles with low porosity...lol. I have to clarify often (every weeks). If not my hair absorbs nothing. But, maybe it's also the products I'm using. I start using lighter products last wash day. Let's see if that works....ill also try the products you suggested.
Great video! I’ve been watching videos for help in caring for my daughter’s hair. It’s long, dense, and fine strands. Little to no curl pattern and very healthy. It trains a lot of time and small sections to care for it 😊. Your video is very relatable and helpful ❤
Best video I’ve seen on low porosity hair
Very informative video! In the past when I was trying to find out what my porosity was, I had to watch several videos until I was able to determine my porosity. This will make it a lot easier for the most people!!!
Love from Switzerland 🥰😘
I'm so glad! Love you back!!!!!
Awesome, informative video, but you are GORGEOUS and your hair is GORGEOUS.
